I’m about to leave for the physical I need for clearance for my ocular cancer surgeries.  Assuming that the Kitty that did the scanning yesterday has the results as promised, and there are no contraindications, we’re shooting for the 20th and 24th of this month.  I’m taking a bottle of water along, because I’m using the regular bus and Portland is under an Excessive Heat Warning through Sunday.  I’ll have more info when I return.

I’m back.  Kitty Kitty CAT Scan said there is no evidence of metastasis,  A couple more minor test results are out until this evening, so I should get clearance for the surgeries on Monday.  I hear the sound of my pillow calling.  You’d better sleep now, before I use up all the ZZZZZZZZZs,

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:51 (average 5:17).  To do it, click here.  Hoe did you do?

  1. Cartoon: "Such art was banned on the grounds that it was un-German or Jewish Bolshevist in nature, and those identified as degenerate artists were subjected to sanctions. These included being dismissed from teaching positions, being forbidden to exhibit or to sell their art, and in some cases being forbidden
    to produce art entirely.
Please view this link, as it has a few artists at the time, with pictures of their painting.

Whew!! Good news of not having metastasis! Get some nap time in, take care and Thanks, Tom.

    • Amen to that Whew!

    • I studied fine arts in high school and recognise many of these artists.  Trust the 3rd Reich to find this art degenerate . . . trouble is, the degenerate was the 3rd Reich!

      Thanks for the memories Pat!

  2. 4:25 (5:17)  Do western cats drink tea?  A Siamese I would expect to …

Glad the news is good !!!

Cartoon – Well, there goes "Hamilton."

  3. Good news, at last! This is great news! Hopefully, ALL your tests come back to your advantage and the surgery goes well.

Have a great day, Tom Kitty!

  4. I like that Kitty Kat CAT!

The Nazis attacked anyhing that seemed to be full of life, art jazz, books, oh, and people, etc.

Now reading a heck of a book: "My Grandfather would Have Shot Me, A Black Woman Discovers Her Family's Nazi Past," by Jennifer Teege…granddaughter of the "Butcher of Plaszow."  He was the commandant characterized in "Schndler's List."

  5. Very encouraging news WRT your CAT scan!

  6. Good news on your scans!

Cartoon:  We may be having more of the same if Trump is elected Prez.

  7. Puzzle — 5:30  Almost at the average time and done by laptop w/o mouse.

Cartoon — The 4th Reich, or the Republican 1,000 year Reich would do the same thing since it is living in the past.

Glad everything is coming up roses in prep for your surgery.  I am sure that everything will go very well.

  8. Recently your health reports have taken a positive turn, TomCat. First your pulmonologist told you to ditch your oxygen tanks, then you were told you don't have rheumatoid arthritis in your hands and now the CAT scan cleared you on metastasis. And George is a more balanced and smooth fellow, giving Stumpy less of a bother. That all doesn't take away from the seriousness of the upcoming operations and the difficult time you'll have to get through, but at least you are healthy enough to go through another operation now and you stand a far better chance of a good and full recovery and being able to cope with the change in sight it's going to bring. So keep working on your health by giving your mind and body priority, TomCat. Catnaps from the Napster are on their way to support you in this.

  9. The poster of the "degenerated music" (Entartete Musik) exhibition (1938).

This exhibition gave start to a series of art events in Germany of that time, and occurred to be a very powerful way of leading the overall opinion. The Nazis were good psychologists: instead of simply destroying the art works they thought inappropriate, they chose to do it publicly, in order not to create martyrs, so dearly loved by the people. In the way they did it, it worked, and the art of 1930s was labeled by the contemporaries as "incomprehensible and elitist".

    • JL, I've read it, but opted not to sign it, because ikt calls for an Open Primary.   The Demolcratic Party belongs to Democrats.  People, who are not Democrats, have no stake in who represents the party.  In states that have open primaries, I've seen the damage Republicans can do by crossing over en masse.  However, you are certainly welcome to post it here.

  10. Sending good surgery energy, TC – may all be well!!

  11. REALLY happy to hear the good news, Tom!  (HIGH FIVES)
