Julie has been here, and I’m a polished puddy tat,  She brought her companion animal, a pup named Prince.  You’ll get to meet him today.  I’m setting up the jumps through the bunches of hoops I need to accomplish before my eye surgeries. Later:  Groceries have been delivered, and I put them away.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:42 (average 4:51).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

A good win for Bernie cut into Hillary’s lead by 5 delegates, but that’s not enough to close the gap. Bernie needs 913 more delegates to win. Hillary needs 143. The remaining states have 897 delegates. Vote Blue No Matter Who!!

From Daily Kos: A meme shared on Tumblr and Reddit instructs people to mix household chemicals together in order to make a glowstick.

Except the instructions are lifted from a how-to guide for making a chlorine bomb out of common chemicals. This device overpressurizes its container and explodes. The explosion releases deadly chlorine gas which when inhaled, interacts with the water in mucus membranes to transform into hydrochloric acid. It causes chemical burns in the throat, eyes, and lungs. It has been used as a chemical weapon for just over 100 years, and was first introduced by the German Empire at the second battle of Ypres in 1915, and most recently used by terrorists in Iraq and Syria who were targeting civilians with makeshift devices such as the one described in this meme.

I’ve removed the actual instructions for the device because some people are stupid and might try to see what would happen if they made one of these.

I also found this video to see what would happen non-stupidly.

I found the meme on Reddit, and the people spreading it are mostly Cruz and Trump supporters, based on their other posts and comments. Please be warned! This is one of the vilest things the Republican Party has ever done!

From Upworthy: It’s pretty rare that a Department of Justice press conference will bring people to tears — today was a rare and historic exception.

Today, Attorney General Loretta Lynch issued a formal response to HB2, North Carolina’s anti-transgender law. In it, she said:

"This is not a time to act out of fear. This is a time to summon our national virtues of inclusivity, diversity, compassion and open-mindedness. What we must not do — what we must never do — is turn on our neighbors, our family members, our fellow Americans, for something they cannot control, and deny what makes them human."

"This is why none of us can stand by when a state enters the business of legislating identity and insists that a person pretend to be something they are not, or invents a problem that doesn’t exist as a pretext for discrimination and harassment."

She also urged the state not to repeat the mistakes of the past, pointing out that it wasn’t so long ago that restrooms were segregated on the basis of race.

Amen to that!

  1. 4:43  The hummingbirds are welcome to it.

    RCP – Ah, yes.

DKos – At least the warning seems to be getting as much publicity as the hoax is – more, where I go, since I don't generally see Tumblr or Reddit but stick with Dem/Lib/Prog sites for the most part.  I do hope the instigator(s) is(are) found.

Upworthy – So of course McCrory is suing her.  Well, the Department.  How crazy-assed can they get?  Wait – don't answer that.

    Cartoon – What a cutie.

  2. Lynch deserves major kudos.

    Shades of disgustingly dangerous.

Maine's numbers are no longer accurate since the superdelegates have to shift to align with the voters per the convention decision.

Hope the dog is friendly with cats.

  3. RCP: Thanks for the chart. Yes, "Vote Blue No Matter Who". Go Bernie, Go!!!

DK: Extremely dangerous! I just read about 3 young men, putting the bottled ingredients in mailboxes, and they exploded. Thankfully, no one was injured!! but the mailboxes are completely blown apart. Yea..faux.

Upworthy: Epic! Well spoken speech! Kudos to Ms. Lynch, and Ms.Gupta! Let's see what happens next, with McCrory. ugh!!

Cartoon: Aww…Puppy doesn't look too concerned, he looks sleepy. Sweet!

Julie has been an asset for you, so glad you found her. Enjoy and relax this evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. GOP glowsticks…I'll tel you where I would like to stick them!

    Upworthy:  Well said, Loretta!!

George has a new friend? Womnderful!

  5. Julie is turning out to be a real gift, so glad for you.  The pup is precious.

Real Clear Politics:   Bernie won't get enough of the super delegates to vote for him, too many are beholden to the Clintons.  He fought a good fight, though. I will vote Blue, no matter who!

Daily Kos:  The author and publisher of these posts should be charged with public endangerment.  This is beyond belief, that people would descend to such evil.

Upworthy:  Good for Ms. Lynch. She is so right.

  6. Sorry, too sick to even read let alone comment!  Hope you all have had a good day

  7. Man, Cruz and Drumpf supporters are REALLY EVIL!!! Vile little hypocrites, they are!!! They want to play dirty!!! I wish that could be directly tied to Drumpf or Cruz! Drumpf, REALLY!!! That along with his tax returns that are "being audited" might wake some the rubes up!!!

What's up with George? Has he gotten his new spiffy ankle yet? Take care, TC!

    • Actually, there were some supporters for most Republican candidates, and a couple Bernie fans wjp had been duped.  I saw no Hillary supporters, though.

  8. You'll need to get George something more than a shiny new ankle soon, TomCat. Republican reflux, dogs…what is he going to have to put up with next. How about buying him a nice bunch of flowers and use him as a vase? Nice little doggie though, it didn't seem to mind too much, perhaps because you already were a a repolished puddy tat by then. Good luck with all the planning and arranging you need to do to get your eye surgeries done. I was wondering: will the oncologist take care of the cataracts at the same time or will you have to go through those procedures separately because that's not her area of expertise? The latter would mean you'll be in and out of hospital for the rest of the year, poor you.

RCP: Glad Bernie is still in the race as he's still pulling Hillary further to the left, but in the end (we) Bernie supporters must face reality and Vote Blue, No Matter Who.

DK: Don't tell me these absurd posts, intended to harm people, are not taken from the internet because it would infringe on their freedom of speech! Does freedom of speech now also include freedom to harm people? Thank goodness a lot of Bernie supporters have far more sense than these Republican thugs and see it for what it is: a dangerous chemical weapon and a killer to anyone who mixes the chemicals without protection. Where Bernie supporters realize what 'bern' they are going to end up with, children and adolescents attracted by the 'glow sticks' will not. The people who put this up on the internet and social media should be prosecuted.

Upworthy: Attorney General Loretta Lynch made an excellent statement to the press. Not only did she ask the people of NC to reconsider their position on the disgusting HB2 law, she also made the correct, but painful link to the racist 'past' of the states who have or about to adopt similar discriminatory laws. Segregation of people, no matter if it is based on race, gender/sexual identity, religion or anything else is wrong no matter how many laws Republicans pass.

  9. Puzzle — I will be off to the doctor's shortly so I'll try the puzzle later.

RCP — Too bad that Bernie doesn't have a chance at the nomination now.  However his work is not done.  Bernie has shown that there is a real appetite in the country for his policies.  Keep pushing Bernie!  You the man!

Daily Kos — Why is it that there seems to be a pre-occupation with violence and stupidity on the right wing?

Upworthy — An excellent piece.  Kudos to Lynch!  And AMEN!!!

    Cartoon — Cute pup . . . for a dawg!

  10. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!
