Yesterday turned out to be a thoroughly frustrating day.  My LIFT Bus arrived over 45 minutes late.  Once it became apparent that I could not make it to my appointment on time, I called my doctor’s office, explained, and asked if I could come in late.  They told me not to come and to reschedule.  I said I would call as soon as I could get to my computer, where I keep my calendar.  When I did, they told me that Megan is going on maternity leave until July.  (Rest assured, I didn’t do it).  She wasn’t even showing when I saw her before.  Fortunately Ellie, Megan’s PA, who took care of me, when I had pneumonia, can fill in for her until she returns.  I was very happy with her too.  In any case, I rescheduled my appointment for Thursday morning.  I’m waiting for Lu to arrive, as I really need to de-stink.

Jug Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:49 (average 5:38).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Republican front-runner Donald Trump was crying foul on Monday after Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders allegedly dispatched an army of vegan thugs to attack a rally of peace-loving Nazis in Cincinnati.

According to Trump, he had begun to address a group of “orderly and civil Nazis” at a downtown arena when his audience was suddenly set upon by an unruly mob of angry vegans, many menacingly clad in Birkenstocks and sustainable garments.

The Sanders supporters, singing an alarmingly militant version of Simon & Garfunkel’s “America,” marched into the arena and began “intimidating and threatening” the Nazis, Trump said.

“Make no mistake about who is starting the violence at these rallies,” Trump said. “It’s the vegans.”

Is Andy quoting Hateful Hairball? It sounds like one of his lies.

From Daily Kos: It is a probably too late, but a Republican SuperPAC is finally hitting Trump especially hard with a new ad.

These Republicans made an excellent ad. The irony here is that women would be no better off in their Republican role as chattel under any of the other three Criminal Clowns.

From NY Times: The Obama administration is expected to withdraw its plan to permit oil and gas drilling off the southeast Atlantic coast, yielding to an outpouring of opposition from coastal communities from Virginia to Georgia but dashing the hopes and expectations of many of those states’ top leaders.

The announcement by the Interior Department, which is seen as surprising, could come as soon as Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the decision who was not authorized to speak on the record because the plan had not been publicly disclosed.

The decision represents a reversal of President Obama’s previous offshore drilling plans, and comes as he is trying to build an ambitious environmental legacy. It could also inject the issue into the 2016 presidential campaigns, as Republican candidates vow to expand drilling.

Kudos to Obama. Could it be that this decision might spark the reemergence of Drill Baby Dingbat, aka Bloody Bullseye Barbie?  Barf Bag Alert!!

  1. 4:51 (5:38)  Trying to get out as fast as possible.  Not very fast, but I did make it safely.

    New Yorker – Riiiiiight.

DKos – Someone pointed out that unless it's recorded in Trump's OWN voice his supporters will simply deny that he said it.  "RINO libruls just making it up."

    NY Times – Good news.

Cartoon – Happy Birthday indeed, Edie!

  2. NYer: I have a pair of Birkenstocks, somewhere…let me go get them on! LOL, Andy.

DK: I'm sure this, (his supporters) will affect the Drumpf in a negative way. Not.

NYT: Excellent news, some of the coastal marshes in the South is pristine, and should stay that way for future generations.

Poutin' Palin should just go away. Far. Away.

Happy Birthday, Edie. Hope it's great!!

Glad to read that Ellie is filling in, she sounds nice. Good luck w/your appt on Thursday. Enjoy your evening, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. I got many emails confirming no Atlantic drilling today…others announcing more Artic drilling opportunities….

    Happy Birthday Edie!

Ecards were working again this morning FYI.

I guess they failed to consult real women for their policy claims.

AB is spot on as usual.

Glad your reschedule is so soon.

  4. Too bad about your LIFT bus being SO late! Sounds like you have it well in hand now.

I LOVED Andy's take on HumptyDrumpf's "Insane Clown Posse" arrival at his so-called "rally"!!! Just TOO friggen close to his truth!!! ARG !!!

And the clip of the RepukkklicanTs new ad has the need of a double barf bag alert!! To think that these idiots waited THIS LONG to put out an ad AGAINST the way that HumptyDrumpf has vilified WOMEN is way beyond the pail!!!

NOW, President Obama has FINALLY started to put some backbone behind the #KEEPITINTHEGROUND movement!!! That is FANTASTIC!!! The oil spills that could have happened off the SE coast will NOT happen!!! Just tickles me to no end!!! Hurray!!

Take care, TC! Hope you can get to the doctor as soon as needed!! Have a great day!

  5. WOW!

Say, Edie – not only do you get to enjoy celebrating your Birthday with all of us …

But you ALSO get to enjoy celebrating your SHARED Birthdays with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg!

    Happy B-Day!

  6. Happy Birthday, indeed, Edie!

    Borowitz is so sharp!

    Kudos to Obama!

    The video is right on!

  7. Thank you so much for the cartoon with birthday wishes.  I had a lovely day.  It sounds like you had a rough one, though.  Better luck Thursday.

The New Yorker:  I love Andy.  Trump is really about to get the Republican nomination.  I shudder to think about how the campaign will progess after he gets it.

NY Times:  Glad to know Pres. Obama reversed his decision on this, now if he would also do that on the TPP I would be a  happy old lady.  Bullseye Barbie had to go home to Alaska for her husband after his accident.  I am sure she is peed at him for inconveniencing her this way.

  8. 3:15  I was trapped!

  9. Puzzle — 3:15  I was trapped!

The New Yorker — Ya!  Andy is quoting Hateful Hairball!  I wish Andy would stick to comedy/satire rather than news reporting!

    Daily Kos — And the war on women goes on . . . and on . . . and on . . . and on . . .

NY Times — Good on Obama!

Cartoon — Congratulations Edie!  May you celebrate many more birthdays!

  10. Oh dear Heaven – you don't mean that $$arah is back – God help us all!

  11. Happy Birthday Edie!

  12. I'm sorry you missed your PCP appointment, TomCat, and hope you manage with your hands for another week. Let's hope the LIFT bus is on time next week, but I can understand it's hard for them to keep tight schedules as there are only a few of them and they provide services to people with special needs who's appointments must often go terribly awry waiting on doctors or stuck in traffic. If that happens there's no way they can catch up unless someone cancels. Did Lu arrive in time to help you wash away the smells and frustration? You needed that for a good sleep, I think.

TNY: One of Andies better parodies I think. I just love the way he turns the world upside down by quoting Drumpf's lies in which he blamed non-violent protesters for being aggressive and "wheeling their arms around" and telling the audience that these people are no good and had it coming to them. But Andy goes further than parody, doesn't he. He calls Drump's audience Nazis and no "peace-loving" and "orderly and civil" can take away from this truth.

DK: The ad is indeed excellent, but it would be even better if it didn't come from a Republican SuperPAC and therefore wasn't so terribly hypocritical. This is the way Republican politicians talk behind closed doors about women and this attitude towards women is the basis for their war on women in public. Drumpf has only peeled of the cellophane.

NYT: Three cheers for Obama, but in the meantime crossing my fingers this isn't just window dressing for his environmental legacy, one that he makes the history books with as the president that did the most to bring climate change to a halt despite fierce opposition, but whose actions in the last of year of his second term were all annulled in the first year of his successor. But for now, let's celebrate the respite the Atlantic coast is given and the frustration it causes many Republican leaders in the coastal states.

    Happy Birthday Edie!

  13. KOS: Interesting ad from the GOP… lol. A bit of hypocrisy, eh, GOP Poopies… lol.!

NYT: Glad that Obama is doing what he can on Climate Change. We really need to use alternative sources of energy than using oil, gas which are big environmental polluters. Germany is the leader in the world for using solar energy whole USA lags far behind.

Drill Baby Dingbat, aka Bloody Bullseye Barbie? Barf Bag Alert!! has been "resurrected" by The Drumpf… Ugh! The "word salad" huckster needs to be put back into the dank hole of the outhouse and drilled in permanently!!
