I got through yesterday no worse for the wear, and feel good, albeit tired, today.  However, since I’ve been fasting since Midnight for my labs, I’m hungry enough to eat a dawg: a big one.  I’m taking a PB&J, so I’ll have a snack when I’m done, unless that Sasquatch foot-flattens it so thin that I can’t find it.  I’ll finish this paragraph when I return.  I’m back.  They got me right in and out,  Facing a two hour wait, before the beginning of my lift window, I called and cancelled that ride, and took the regular bus instead.  It went well.  I slept poorly last night, so I’m gong to post this, reach up, and grab a Lona nap.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:06 (average 5:28).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Upworthy: Samantha Bee spoke to one of the authors of one such law — Texas’ HB2 — which currently is being challenged at the Supreme Court. To hear him tell it, he’s just a sweet old guy who’s concerned for everyone’s safety. How considerate!

For my comment, a picture is worth a thousand words.

AbortionGOP

From Daily Kos: Democratic challenger Ann Kirkpatrick launched a gut-punch of an ad Monday against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), showing how "The Maverick" is just another Republican when it comes to lining up behind Donald Trump.

A Hateful Hairball nomination could be the best thing that’s ever happened for the Democratic Party, because of the down ballot gains it would bring.

From NY Times: Ben Carson, the only Republican to have once threatened the lead of Donald J. Trump in national polls, said on Wednesday that he saw no path forward and would skip a debate on Thursday in his hometown, Detroit, signaling an end to his candidacy after paltry performances in the nominating contests.

Now that the Clown Car has barfed out Uncle Token, it appears increasingly likely that KKKasich amd Border Booter Bot won’t last long. I would have never predicted that it would come down to Hateful Hairball with TRUSed Uranus in distant second.

Contrary to Republican lies, the the Founding Fathers were not involved.

  1. Upworthy: Unbelievable that women have to go over a hundred miles in this state (TX), to get to a clinic. If they have the money. If they have a car to get them there. And back home. Unfortunately, for these women, a back alley is their alternative, with no hope for a safe abortion. How very, very sad.!! I sure hope that this doesn't get deadlocked in the SC.

DK: John McCain: Ugh. Good ad though from Ms. Ann Kirkpatrick.

NYT: Bye, Bye, Ben. Trump/Cruz scare me!!

Cartoon: ''It did not become the national anthem until more than a century after it was written.'' On March 3, 1931, after 40 previous attempts failed, a measure passed Congress and was signed into law that formally designated “The Star-Spangled Banner” as the national anthem of the United States.''  There are 9 things you may not know about the National Anthem. *History.

Glad to read of your day, and a good report all around. Get a good nap, and take care.  Thanks, Tom.

  2. Donald DRUMPF

Why is he winning… The uneducated and unwashed mass supporters of Donald Drumpf aka "hairball" are voting for him because they want to completely eviscerate the GOP "professional politicians" for its continued obstructive, do nothing tactics in Congress.

Uncle Token will be leaving soon enough if not already. As for KKKasich, he will lose the Ohio primary and drop out thereafter, and the "Bot" does not have enough support going for him which leaves TRUSTed Uranus in the far second position placement.

  3. 2:55  Pretty flutterby!  No flutterby fricassée today Puddy Tat!  BTW, you sat on your PB&J . . . that's why it is flat!  If I was anywhere near it, I would have eaten it!

  4. 4:40  Probably even prettier in real life, in the sun, with interference coloration.

Upworthy – Mr. Flynn lives in a Republican bubble.  I mean, there's a chance he is so crazy he actually believes what he is saying.  Does the phrase "put out of one's misery" begin to sound attractive?

DKos – Glad you're happy about a Hair Hitler/Il Douche/Hairohito nomination, because it looks all but certain at this point.

NYTimes – Yup. You think Carson's candidacy was a con all the time?

Cartoon – The words were written during the War of 1812 and the tune was an old English drinking song; it's not beyond the bounds of possibility for a founder or two to have sung "To Anacreon In Heaven" in a tavern while hoisting a brew.  But the founders would have had better sense than to make something so un-singable the National Anthem.  1931 – in the depths of depression, wouldn't you think Congress would have had more important things to think about?  Oh, that's right – a Republican was President..

New topic – Got this from the SOA Watch today.

  5. WRT SCOTUS, the best-case scenario would be if swing-vote Justice Kennedy sides w/ Justices Breyer, Bader Ginsburg, Kagan & Sotomayor to make it a 5-3 vote to strike down the Texas law, HB 2.

Kennedy is hard to read, but he did note several times that it might be wise to return it to the lower court to gather more evidence.

Like when Justice Breyer asked Texas Solicitor General Scott Keller to provide examples, from before HB 2's admitting-privileges requirement, of women who had abortion complications but were unable to get care at a hospital.  Keller had to concede that NO such examples were ever provided to the court.

Isn’t that the entire thrust of their case?  If they’re contending the HB 2 was passed to make having an abortion “safe” – then it would seem incumbent that they need to prove that it WASN’T prior to the law.

Worst case scenario if Kennedy sides w/ the rest of his Catholic brethren (yeah, I know Sotomayor is Catholic – but she’s not a “brethren”) in a 4-4 vote tie.  If so, then the 5th Circuit Court ruling stands – and clinics will close.

Scroll down to take a look at this “Fund Texas Choice” map of the impact of HB2.  Then consider Keller’s claim that it won’t be “burdensome” for the women of West Texas – where there will be  NO clinics – because they can just drive on over to New Mexico for an abortion.

But as Justice Bader Ginsburg pointed out, New Mexico does NOT require their physicians have admitting privileges (like HB 2 does) NOR does it require their clinics meet the standards of Ambulatory Surgical Centers (like HB 2 does).

So how is THAT then “protecting” Texas women and making it “safer”?

  6. Puzzle — 2:55  Pretty flutterby!  No flutterby fricassée today Puddy Tat!  BTW, you sat on your PB&J . . . that's why it is flat!  If I was anywhere near it, I would have eaten it!

Upworthy — Isn't he just the sweetest little cupcake on the platter, but not smart at all.  His arguement has more holes than Swiss cheese!

Daily Kos — How can these idiots call themselves patriots when their allegiance is to the party, not the country?  Blind fealty is no fealty.

NY Times — As I wrote yesterday, "not see a political path forward" sounds suspiciously like Carson is suspending his campaign, but when asked to clarify, he simply said "We'll see."  Apparently he will make a further announcement Friday.

Cartoon — Gee, according to Pat B, there have been previous obstructionist Congresses if it took more than 40 shots to get this song designated.

  7. I'm glad things went well, speedy and another regular bus trip managed well!

Those at a distance in south Texas can't easily go to NM…

Like Jim, I read where Kasich has no intention of quitting before the OH election.  I have read where GOP strategists want to keep enough others in the race to prevent Trump getting 50% of the delegates.  Rubio triumphed in MN.

That song is not just hard to sing but also difficult on some musical instruments.

  8. I haven't been able to find your posts of late. I gotta catch up and see how you are doing!

Hairball is supposed to debate Megyn Kelly tonight. That should be a comic's DREAM!

Hope you are feeling better. I haven't seen a post since you were coming down with the crud!

Be sure to send me cards so I can get your news! Take care of yourself and be safe!

  9. I hope your PB&J was good.  That is my favorite lunch.

UPworthy:  Yes, a coat hanger would be their choice.  Pregnant and in the kitchen is the way they prefer their women.  Their concern for the child ends as soon as it is born.  Our new governor has wasted not time in dismantling any clinic left in Ky that performs abortions.  There is a petition floating to have him impeached which I signed of course.  Doubt it will go anywhere.

Daily Kos:  It seems the GOP is in a frenzy of fear that he will get the nomination and a Dem will win the White HOuse.. I hope they are right.  He has released the demons of racism and hatred with his vitriolic comments and will get those votes.  I just hope there are enough sane Americans left to defeat him.

NY Times:  Looks like you were right.  Cruz and Trump are leading right now.  Rubio comes across as a spoiled, not too bright child, while they both appeal to the baser instincts.

Cartoon:  The Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves at all the Republicans have been accusing them of doing.

  10. The Repuglicon debate makes me feel ill – and 'horrible hairball' really defies belief.  He goes from horrible to vile to abysmal in one sentence – then repeats it all over again!

Thanks TC – loved the butterfly jigsaw!  3..27.
