In politics it is said, that when not fueled by hope there is a vacuum for fear to fill. Since artists turn to the muses, Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomene, Terpsichore, Erato, Polymnia, Ourania and Calliope we are exploring what they can offer us for inspiration to have the hope fueling politics.

"Hold your head high, stick your chest out. You can make it. It gets dark sometimes,

but morning comes. Keep hope alive." — Jesse Jacksonforgotten-muses-1226788

"Men and women are limited not by the place of their birth, not by the color of their skin, but by the size of their hope." — John Johnson

Let us first turn to Polymnia (it takes geometry) with Terspsichore (dance):
Badass UCLA gymnast Sophina DeJesus pulled off a must-watch floor routine.(text and brief video)

Gives me a bit of hopeful energy, how about you?

Now to Clio (history):
The human remains just found at Stonehenge could change how we see the ancient world.

History worth remembering I think, how about you?

Since this was Presidents’ weekend, some Presidential trivia:

http://www.funtrivia.com/en/World/Presidential-Trivia-13690.html

Erato (love)would claim this one:
They Say Love Is Dead. They Haven't Seen This Video (very short)
http://www.motherjones.com/mixed-media/2015/09/love-real

Did it help restore your faith in love?

Back to Clio (guitar):
The Top 30 Best Damn Rock Riffs Ever. Period. (video-10 minutes)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=invnCfdq-fk

Does it inspire hope?

And then to Thalia (Colbert video clip):
Stephen Colbert: New Hampshire Diner Woman Just Wants Breakfast                      26SB1070.jpg
http://therealnews.com/t2/component/hwdvideoshare/viewvideo/80290

Does laughter enable hope?

And finally would Ourania claim this as Celestial:

or only this?

Thank you dear reader for joining me on this journey of discovery and quest for hope.

  1. Polymnia: Excellent flawless floor routine, loved how her classmates cheered her on!! All about Teamwork!

Clio: ''Perhaps once we learn more about the women and men buried under Stonehenge, we'll have to stop describing regressive cultural attitudes as "Stone Age" like it's a bad thing.'' Good article!

Clio2: I'm going to have to come back to this later, did bookmark it.

Erato: Aww…how very sweet! Bet she was happy too!!

Thalia: Hilarious!! Kept getting a 404 on link. Here's Youtube's link to show, just in case:

Ourania: Rocking band!! Like the music!!
Ourania2: Amazing!!! Great video that shows how vast our Universe is, and the wonderous galaxies out there! Liked the music too!

So enjoyed this!! Thank you for this wonderful post, JL.

  2. Polymnia: Personally I'm not a fan of all the show in between the jumps, but Sophia DeJesus sure made up for that with a spectacular routine. She must have had a kangaroo as coach who taught her how to regain all the energy put in a jump and just use it again an again. Wonderful.

    Clio:
Stonehenge: The discovery of an equal amount of women and men buried underneath Stonehenge is very interesting in that it seems to suggest a certain equality between the sexes, at least at that period in time and in the 1% group. As such this is hopeful: equality has been possible and will be possible again. But you know me, I'm the one to point out the downside too: if equality is something that hysterically occurred in waves, the attainments of the sexual revolution that started in the sixties may be short-lived too. The way Republicans think of women isn't a very positive sign, is it? Women everywhere need to be alert and keep on fighting for their rights.
Presidential Trivia: "former President Theodore Roosevelt ran for a non-consecutive term as a third party candidate for the Progressive Party in the election." Ah, them good old days. What a pity he didn't win.

Erato: My own age must have something to do with this, but I consider these moments between the older and elderly couples the "true love" the young think is their prerogative.

Clio, guitar: As I was a glutton for all kinds of music in my younger years, I knew nearly all the riffs except for three. A bit too much hard rock for my taste, but Day Tripper, Sunshine of your Love, Layla and my favorite Sweet home Alabama brought back some memories. But hope? The Bach I try to listen to each day, that is what gives me hope these days . LOL.

Thalia: All my hope was dashed when I couldn't access Stephen Colbert's video. Darn.

Ourania: First video, sorry, no thirteen to the dozen. Second video, definitely yes. Those stars are too big to imagine, and to name apparently as they're already running out of superlatives. Makes you humble again, doesn't it. We're just a speck of dust on the largest star, and this is only the largest of what they have discovered! Amazing.

Thanks again for this journey, Judi.

  3. Terpsichore – Wow.

Clio – Well, those of us who do look at archaeology occasionally are already reclaiming the term "Neanderthal," who were apparently quite peaceful compared to "Sapiens."  I have no problem reclaiming the term "Stone Age."

Clio 2 – Oh, man, WAY too many questions!  I only made it to number 48, then realized there were many more pages.

Erato – Oh, no, you don't.  I already cried over this.  Not going back to it.

Ourania 2 – The largest known star may be smaller than a gaaxy, but it's still one big dog!

  4. A real strar!

    Stoner women? devil

    Thanks for the rest.  Pooped!
