This has not been a good month for my friends and family.  Shortly before Christmas my nurse of many years at work, who was 10-15 years younger than I am and a model of healthy living, had a massive coronary event, went into pulmonary failure and was subsequently taken off all support systems.

Then shortly after Christmas a favorite aunt, who had been in a car accident, developed pneumonia and passed away.

And yesterday I learned that the nurse practitioner in our office, with whom I became fast friends with both her and her family, had also passed away.

The deaths of three people I cherish in a month’s time have kind of taken the wind out of my sails.

I had already started work on this week’s “Friday Fun”, so I should be able to post it by tomorrow or Sunday.  And I’ll still be commenting, because I hope it’ll be therapeutic.

As a preview, I’ll note that Lynn had recently mentioned she’s working her way through the 2009 Oscar-winning movie “Avatar”.  In the dregs of my mind that reminded me that a number of the surreal locations in the film were actually inspired by other-worldly spots right here on earth.  We’ll visit some of them shortly …

  1. Nameless, I wish there were words that could bring you comfort, when you have so much cause for grief.  Know, my friend, that you are in my thoughts and prayers,  Should you need a shoulder or an ear, you know how to reach me.

  2. Nameless, I am sorry for your losses…my condolences.

  3. Words fail me.  I can certainly empathise and sympathise as I was in a similar place in 2007.  Know that you are in my prayers my dear friend.  Please be patient with yourself and allow yourself to grieve the way you need to grieve. Peace be with you.  Namaste

  4. I can empathize–my mother had three of her generation's nearest a dearest go in about two months of each other and that is a hit none of us can avoid feeling.  You continue to be in my prayers.

  5. Nameless, if words fail you, please understand they are failing me too.  I do thank you for being a wounded healer (more about them later), and I send every good wish I can muster.  We will await your judgment as to when we see your work.

I am putting this on Care2 because I know there are people there who will care.  It's at http://www.care2.com/news/member/101612212/3947991.

  6. I am so sorry, Nameless.  The older we get, the more people we lose, that is the worst part of it.

  7. My sincerest condolences to you, Nameless, during this most difficult time.

I wish you Healing, and Peace.

  8. Thanks to everyone for all your kind words and thoughts.

It's been literally years since I've been to a funeral … and then to have three in one month reminded me I'm getting old.

(I decided to hold off and put the "Fun Post" up Sunday, as I'm just tired today and don't want to botch it.)

  9. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your losses, all in such a short space of time, Nameless. My sincere condolences.

The older we get, the more we're confronted with the deaths of our dear ones, but it never gets any easier, only harder. Take all the time you need to morn your friends and family and to find a new balance. You're in my thoughts.

  10. condolences……
