In yesterday’s Open Thread, I forgot to tell you that I have a medical appointment.  I think I’ve mentioned that I decided to fire my primary care physician, the one about whom I’ve told you all the horror stories.  My appointment this morning is my initial visit with the woman I chose to replace her.  I need to leave before 9:00 and will not return until after noon, so this is today’s only article.

Jig Zone:

Today’s took me 4:40 (average 5:52).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. A new PCP?

Hope you enjoy your single-digit + latex-glove + KY experience … well  at least as best you can.

    • LOL!  Once, when I was in the military, a group of officers gave a much-loved retiring General a "sterling silver silver stallion."  An unusual gift – but he was a very unusual General.

    • You mean it is supposed to be an enjoyable experience?

    • Having fun… yet… with single digit… hmmmmm… lol.

      • No Digit.  She gave me a test to take home.

        • That sounds more like a Hemoccult Card – a test for blood in one's stools by smearing a small sample on a filter paper & then bring/mail it back in.  (Of course by now maybe they also provide the liquid reagent to drop on the other side of the paper to check for color change.)

Digitally, I was thinking about a prostate exam.  (I know you can do a PSA – but from what I've read they're not as accurate as a digital exam, and they have to be repeated to see if they're rising).

  2. 6:55  It was looking at me like it thought I was breakfast.

Good luck with your new physician.

Cartoon – Very true – but the NRA needs to do something about its seal/logo.  When it was established in 1871 it was honorable.  Now, not so much.

  3. The best to you today. Good luck, hope all goes well for you!

  4. 4:37  Looks like a fractal design.

  5. The GOP needs to "secede" from politics.

The NRA needs to be classified as a terrorist organization.

  6. May your new PCP and all the office staff prove to perform to higher standard in providing you care and meeting your needs that you found before.

  7. Excellent decision to switch primary healthcare physicians, TomCat! I wasn't aware you were about to, otherwise I wouldn't have kept going on and on about a switch after the latest horror stories about her (and her staff). I'm sure the next one, including staff, will be much better, especially after you have carefully sampled their competences.

  8. Puzzle — 3:19  Looks like the mouth of the monster that was in a dream last night.

Cartoon — Terrorist organisation indeed, along with the Republican party!

Having been forced to change doctors a year ago (the old one moved to New Zealand where his wife is from), I understand what you're going through.  You can't tell from one visit how things will go, although you can get a sense of things.  My new doctor takes time to listen and to answer questions, and tries to work with patients as opposed to dictating things.  Good luck with your interview.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!  So sar so good!!

  10. To Jim Philips.  RIght on both. Good for you.

  11. I hope you have found a good doctor this time.  Sorry about being late.  I got my computer problems fixed, now C2 is not letting me reply to emails, and making it very hard to comment on articles.  Joanne is trying to get me some help.  Thanks, Joanne D..
