Hi gang.  Here’s the latest.  I’m in a wheelchair and have taken my first spin around the hallways to chase nurses.  I am amazed that using one is so much more difficult than it was the last time I was in a wheelchair.  It was 63 years ago.  My surgery is scheduled for 9:00 AM Monday at the burn unit at Legacy Emmanuel Burn Center on N. Gantbein.   They do not know whether I will stay there, return here or go somewhere else.  That’s very frustrating.

Short Take:

From Daily Kos:

"As a teenager, I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers. And, of course, many people know the story when I was 14 and I tried to stab someone."

Wait… What?!?!?!

Lest you think I am quoting him out of context, behold:

We already had a president with a history of torturing animals and attacking people.  That didn't end well.  Now we are supposed to believe a guy who went after people with rocks, bricks, baseball bats and hammers… is who we want to put in a position where they control real deadly force?

The video in the original is different from this. to suc

The only reason I would hold Uncle Token to account for teenage behavior is that he still exhibits, daily, the absolute, concrete thinking that leads to such behavior.

  1. Kos: All the more reason NOT to allow this "Uncle Token" anywhere near the White House. Carson's ideas on policy matters are out of touch with reality. Carson continues to be delusional in so many ways. Makes me wonder about te people's mental status who apparently support him as the current fron runner for the GOP/TP/Koch Party nominatins.

Carttoon: Hospitals are not known as torture chambers but they sure feel like it. lol.

By the way, today is dated the 28. not the 29th. You really have to stop chasing the nurses.

    • Looks like my copy from text edit app and pasted into PP was sloppy. Here is the missed portion:

Post Op: Most likely, you stay at the surgery hospital until you have recovered from the surgery and return to where you are currently residing with all the candy-striped gals are. As for the W/C, you'll get the hang of using one from chasing the nurses. lol.

    • The joys of being a site administrator . . . TC fixed the date Jim.

      • Ah yes, the joys of being a site administrator… Aren't they wonderful… lol. Hugzzz…

Thanks TC for fixing the date.

  2. BEST of luck with the surgery!!

Carson is something of a marvel: Just how did he manage to do the selfie?  No, not a photo, a pre-frontal lobotomy!

  3. Arm strength makes a difference with wheelchairs…glad you've got some certainty on when of the surgery.  Given the answers I got to similar questions with my mother today, the where and whens will be dictated on how well you handle the surgery and come out of the anesthesia, etc.  Sounds like it could be as little as a few hours before back to your new digs or not for a few days.  Another friend having a shoulder replacement this week goes in not knowing if she'll stay overnight or be sent home when she awakens.  These days the research indicates as little hospital time as is safe is best for recovery so there are no longer set answers for number of days like we used to hear.

Love the turning of the leaves in your cartoon!

  4. "They do not know whether I will stay there, return here or go somewhere else.  That’s very frustrating."

When I had surgery on my busted ankle 14 years ago, they told me I'd be going to a different ward afterwards so I should take my belongings with me.  OK.  When I got to surgery, I was asked why I had this stuff.  They set it aside with a roll of the eyes.  Afterward, I was returned to my old room rather than orthopedics.  That is when they lost me and I never saw the surgeon for a post op.  Go figure.

All the GOP presidential imitators scare me . . . I think they have all been tippling too much.  In the case of Carson, he swapped formaldehyde for gin!

Take care on Monday but we'll chat before then I am sure.

  5. Very frustrating.  I hope they will forward mail  Including small packages.

My wheelchair can be a pain in the butt (pun intended) but it can also beat the alternatives.  It just depends.  And then I've been in it on and off or years.  I agree that arm strength helps.

I had a colleague at my last "permanent" job who had an electric one, and let me tell you, he was dangerous.  Not that he didn't have good control, but he was full of mischief.  He had no trouble catching anyone he wanted to chase.

  6. Best of luck with the surgery. You have to be in good shape to chase the nurses and candy stripers.

Carson is the scariest of them all to me. He is too quiet. Still waters run deep. No wonder he's the front-runner.

I watched the debate last night. OMG! They're all batshit crazy.

  7. Thanks and hugs.

  8. DK: Seriously…a Scary man, with a smile on his face, explaining the whole experience…creepy.

Hope that you get your 'rounds' made, and safely.

Prayers for you, and I'll be thinking of you on Monday for your scheduled surgery, with hopes that all will go well.

Take good care, TC, and Thanks!!

  9. I somehow did not get this post til tonight.  Hang in there, TC, we are all rooting for you.

Daily Kos:  Shared this on Facebook, all my red friends need to see what they are promoting.

Cartoon:  Oh, I hope it is not a torture chamber, but one that will give you relief.

  10. I missed this sequel of From the Edge and are very late to wish you al the best with your surgery, TomCat, bet here it is anyway. I hope they send you back to your current hospital after recovering from the anesthesia, because it looks like they're taking very good care of you there even if you call it the torture chamber.

I think our Uncle Token didn't get the quality aftercare when he slipped with the knife and ended up stabbing himself in the brain. There's still a lot of putrid infection there and given the unstable state of his brain to begin with, this man shouldn't be allowed any where near a government building unless it's on the inside of a state asylum.

  11. Oh for the days when we healed overnight it seemed.  Things move much slower now all but time that is.  Just breathe and relax.  Easy to say, huh?  Everything in its time TC.

"Now we are supposed to believe a guy who went after people with rocks, bricks, baseball bats and hammers… is who we want to put in a position where they control real deadly force?"

This is how textbooks describe sociopaths.  We won't elect one of those, certainly not a Republican one.  As the tide turns serious over the coming months, I expect this looney tune to fade away.  He might be leading in Iowa, but seriously, what does that matter?  There are like 500 people in Iowa and they tell us all the whole truth just because they have the earliest primary?  Please.  Why the mainstream, and politicians, give so much attention to such a little bit of the voting public I will never understand.  Nor believe.
