Late yesterday afternoon my doctor’s office called.  At the last minute they could not get insurance company approval for the MRI, without a more recent X-Ray.  I have a bone to pick with them over scheduling me for an MRI before having the final approval squared away.  I get the X-Ray at the same place.  It’s a walk in item, but I learned too late to cancel my LIFT ride, so I have to do an X-Ray on an MRI schedule.  Grrr!  I’ll add another paragraph when I get back and let you know how it went.

The day was a complete mess.  I’ll explain it layer.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:37 (average 5:08).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. Oh, TC! Sounds like a ring-around-the-rosie kind of day! I’ll check back later for the other paragraph. Take care, my friend! Insurance is so complicated!

  2. Exactly the kind of thing that CA's Insurance Commissioner is getting our Legislature to address so consumers do not have unexpected bills or scheduling issues for things their doctors order.  So sorry it affected you.

  3. 5:38 average still 5:08.  I hope the eating texture isn't as tough as I found the puzzle to do.

While we're celebrating Alberta's trouncing of their home grown teabaggers, their neighbor BC has a request for us – they want our signatures to help them reclaim powers that have been signed away to Ottowa, including jurisdiction over crude oil transport through BC.  http://BCreview.ca/  It took my signature with a US Zip Code.  I'm sure Lynn Squance is all over this already (in fact, I see from yesterday's Open Thread that she is) but she can't do it alone, no matter how big her feet are.

In other news, the ACLU won one on appeal against the NSA.  It isn't over, of course, but it's something.  https://www.aclu.org/cases/aclu-v-clapper-challenge-nsa-mass-call-tracking-program  (background)

SO, so sorry about all the medical issues.  For someone who can walk and drive, those are just inconveniences.  To you they are major roadblocks.  I also eagerly await a second paragraph.

I am sure that when you go to Salem you will habe neither the time nor the energy to visit Schreiner's Iris garden there.  I only mention it because I see they have an iris named for you.  http://www.schreinersgardens.com/page_7798_6942/tomcat  A real beauty too.  Quite tall.  I am putting it on my shopping list  😀

    • thanks Joanne–it took my real zip, too

    • Joanne, I have that iris!

      • I'll bet it's even nicer in real life.  It looks like one of the nicest that isn't a broken color.  (I am a sucker for broken color irises.  Have you seen Bewilderbeest [which I have] and Meerkat Manor [which I want, but Schreiner's doesn't have]?)

    • Thanks for the petition JD.  This is a petition I had't seen but I have been following the debate and protests etc. for some time.  With the new social democrat government in Alberta, the new premier elect has been making some encouraging statements but Kinder Morgan is not one of them.  I have posted this to C2NN http://www.care2.com/news/member/775377582/3878689  so I hope that more will sign and those that have signed here will also note it, getting more exposure.  I have also posted to FB.

    • I am thrilled to bits that one part of the world has come to its senses in Alberta, Lynn – but it looks as though England has gone quite bats – it looks as though Cameron is back.  God help us all – especially all those on those pernicious 'zero hours contracts', the sick,, the poor, the disabled….  ARRGGGHHHH!  The SNP has won hands down in Scotland and I was hoping for a coalition government – Germany has done very well out of them for decades….

    • Even more than the beauty of irises, I LOVE their heavenly perfume.

Had a 10×10 area of one of my gardens (a raised bed) at the old place dedicated to irises.  I used the raised bed because it made it easier for sniffing them!

But sadly, I haven't put any in at my "new" (does 10 years count as "new" any more?) place.

  4. I hope  tomorrow is a better day for you!

  5. 3:38  I'll let the Puddy Tat fight with the cactus needles!

  6. Poor TC – what an alarming photo of you – you must be feeling quite see-through with exhaustion!  So sorry your day was full of aggravation and official incompetence, that is SO annoying!

  7. PSA – PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Today, Friday, May 8, is National Public Gardens Day!

If you're fortunate to have a botanical garden near you that participates (and most do), you can get in FREE today.  You can find a garden near you, and learn more, here:

    http://www.nationalpublicgardensday.org/

    • According to the site, there is a public garden near me – but not a participating one.  Probably just as well.  It's raining so havily here, and with intermittent lightning and thunder, it's not a great day to go out – and I would need polarized glasses to see through the raindrops.

  8. Sorry your yesterday was so messed up. I waited for an hour for my doctor's appointment and then he sent me for an xray. The good news is no surgery is needed on my leg. The bad news is the nerve pain is worse because of back pain. Oh well. I would rather have that than another surgery. Getting old sucks but I'd still rather be on this side of the dirt.

  9. Thanks all.  See today's Open Thread for the rest of the story.
