The MSNBC special on how the Bush Regime lied us into the Iraq War, did not contain much new information.  In fact, about half of it formed the basis of my own objections to Bush’s criminal attack on a sovereign nation.  However, it does collect and document the information so well and so undeniably, that even  a Republican could understand it, if they were willing to to do so.  In case you missed it, here it is in its entirety.

At the time, I had not yet begun to blog, but I had gotten myself thrown out of several MSN communities, accused of treason, for taking the view that the Bush Regime was fixing the intelligence to support a Republican war for oil and conquest.  I began to blog shortly afterwards.

Ironically on September 11, 2001, several employees were I worked and I were watching the lunch room TV, and knowing that I’m a bit wonky, a couple asked me what I thought the attack would mean for the future.  I said that I thought GW Bush would use the attack as an excuse to invade Iraq and as a rationale for curtailing our civil liberties.  How I wish I had been wrong!  How I wish we had charged the Republican war criminals!

  1. I agree with you completely, nothing new, but well documented and to see it memorialized is rather important!

I also had the same response on 9/11 – that eve – sat with my daughter and said this would result in war, and the war would be probably misdirected to include Iraq instead of aiming for the people responsible .

What disturbs me is that no justice has been brought to any of the war criminals invloved, including the designers of torture – Bybee, Yoo, and Rumsfeld — the list goes on!

  2. I am wanting for members of the bush administration, including bush plus others, to be taken to the Hague and tried as war criminals. In some countries, some members are wanted and are subjected to arrest if any of them step into their countries. I remember that rummy ran out of France as he was about to be arrested. Rummy has not been back since as far as I know.

Will listen to Rachel Maddow later today. Rachel is awesome.

Tom: you are not the only one who thought that the bush administration lied about the reason(s) about Iraq and 9/11. I still contend that 9/11 was allowed to happen as an excuse to invade Iraq and enact the Patriot Act.

    • Jim I am of the same opinion, especially since a small bank, a subsidiary of the Carlysle group, in which the Bush, the bin Laden, and the Faisel families are deeply involved, took record size short positions in the compalyes whose stocks were most hurt by 9/11.

  3. And to think, Chuck Hagel is being crucified by the GOP senators for dissing GWB about his actions during his presidency.

  4. If you didn't understand before why Bush, Cheney and their toadies need to be tried for treason, you will after seeing this, where all the facts are strung together to create a very damning picture.  It was a war for oil and thousands of lives were lost.  A war for profit only.  We raped Iraq and our soldiers died or were hideously maimed. So were the Iraqi people. For what?  Bush was an oil man.  It is sickening that they got away with it.

Look, I love Obama.  But what he needs to do rigtht now is order an investigation that will lead to a trial for each of them. He'll never do it.

    • Angie, it's not fair to blame Obama for this.  During thed 2006 elections, Republicans claimed that, if America voted in Democrats, they would impeach and criminally charge Bush and Cheney and nothing else would get done.  Nancy Pelosi promised that thed Democratic Party would take no such actions.  While I still think Obama should have proceeded with an investigation that would havew led to charges, he could not do so without breaking Pelosi's promise.

      • Well, I am not blaming him.  It certainly isn't his fault.  But Pelosi would incur no wrath from any liberals for publicly re-thinking that position.  I think after viewing Rachel's documentary, if I had lost a loved one in that senseless war I would feel betrayed by my country.

The Bush regime must be prosecuted.  I hope that, with enough media coverage like Rachel's (and I hope that she started a ball rolling here), public opinion could change Pelosi's decision -and Obama's support of her decision.

  5. It has taken me over 12 minutes just to hear 4 minutes of the part 1 because my feed is just horrible, starting and stopping every few seconds.  I'll try again later.

However, I think that Baby Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and others are guilty of war crimes and should be sent to the ICC at The Hague.

Of course if Mr Obama tries that, there could be hell to pay from Republican/Teabaggers even though in 2012 they tried to distance themselves from Baby Bush.  And of course, there are some Republican/Teabaggers that think that Mr Obama is also a war criminal for the use of drones and should be sent to The Hague.

  6. My fellow citizens, at this hour, American coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people, and to defend the world from grave danger.   Our nation enters this conflict reluctantly, that our purpose is sure.

Reluctantly my ass.  At the time, I remember being extremely doubtful of the motives for the war.  I never trusted Bush and Cheney and their merry group of war mongers and idiots.  I wondered if it was about oil, but I didn't know the status of Iraq as far as oil productions/needs.  I knew they went into Kuwait during the 1st Gulf war and blew up oil wells but didn't really know the reason.  Was the war started to "free its people" or to "free its people's oil"?

"to disarm Iraq"?  During Iraq's wars with Iran, and its measures against the Kurds in it's own country, Iraq used poison gas.  But Iraq had given up such weapons after the 1st Gulf War.

"to defend the world from grave danger"?  But who asked the US to defend the world?  Was it maybe more to protect the US designs on the world?  Last year listening to Romney, I frequently commented that the Republican/Teabaggers saw the world as their oyster and they could pick at it any time.  It seems in Republican/Teabagger minds, Manifest Destiny is alive and well on the international stage.

Apologising would basically say that the decision was the wrong decision.  I don't believe it was the wrong decision.

Even when he is wrong, he can't admit it.  The man knows no moral or ethical boundaries, no compass, and should be, along with Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfawitz and others, be tried in The Hague for crimes against humanity or war crimes.
