Clinton for Obama

Republicans have been trying to use Bill Clinton against Obama by promoting the lie that Obama took the work out of Clinton’s workfare.  The Obama campaign countered by featuring Bill Clinton in a truthful ad that Republicans have no plan to put America back to work, but Obama does.

24ClintonIt must really piss off Republicans, but Bill Clinton is hugely popular, so using him to campaign for Obama is just good politics…

…It’s especially smart to use him in this spot, which is targeting middle class voters. Right now, they prefer the Democratic ticket 52-42 over the Romney-Ryan, and the Democrats clearly think they can build on that margin now that Paul Ryan and his zeal for slashing middle and working class programs is on the ticket. And very few politicians can articulate the issues as clearly and compellingly as Clinton.

One unfortunate thing to note about the ad is that it was President Clinton who signed the Gramm-Leach-Billey Act which repealed Glass-Steagall, as well as the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, which deregulated the derivatives market. Clinton, to his credit, later admitted that was a mistake.

Here’s the video:

Republicans claim they will build the economy from the top down, but we have already seen that trickle down always gushes up.  Obama’s plan is to build the economy from the middle class out, actually trying to create the jobs, jobs, jobs that Republicans say they are talking about when they gut our human rights.

  1. All politicians have their faults.  For that matter, all people have their faults.  To think otherwise is pure folly.  But between his mea culpa and the good economy, the legacy of a sizable budget surplus left for the Bushes, and a number of other things, Clinton left a very favourable impression.

  2. With Clinton  there was full employment- a balanced budget and stability– all of which Sonny Boy Bush eliminated in less than a year

  3. I think Nafta was a mistake, too, because it took so many manufacturing jobs out of the country, but I know he had to sign this act due to other projects that wouldn't have passed without his signing.  I would vote for him again if he could run.  I hope they can show people the lie Ryan/Romney are telling about the Welfare to Work act.

  4. I just noticed I said Ryan/Romney, instead of Romney/Ryan.  Hmm what kind of slip was that?

  5. Most things the ReppublicanTs are doing during this election cycle seem to be backfiring on them.

  6. If I recall correctly, the nations budget was in surplus when President Clinton left the White House… I've always supported President Clinton and will take his advice to help working Americans and vote again for President Obama… πŸ™‚
