As I am researching and writing, I am also doing laundry, my least favorite household chore.  On a scale of one to ten, I really hate laundry!  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow appears routine.

And hate hiding behind the Bible is still Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christianity.

From NY Times: The suicide rate among the nation’s active-duty military personnel has spiked this year, eclipsing the number of troops dying in battle and on pace to set a record annual high since the start of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan more than a decade ago, the Pentagon said Friday.

Never before has there been more telling evidence that the the war in Afghanistan has already failed.

From WSET: Members of the House of Representatives voted Friday to protect their own office expense accounts from budget cuts.

The bipartisan 307-102 vote came on a $3.3 billion measure funding congressional operations.

Republicans controlling the House have been trying to cut domestic agency budgets by about 5 percent. But when it came to their own staff, travel and office expenses, GOP leaders opted to freeze their $574 million budget.

They want cuts for everyone else, but they consider themselves entitled, in spite of taking record time off.  What hypocrites!

  1. 3:36  Missed you by 5 seconds.

  2. Isaac Newton would recommend that it’s usually best to let sleeping Cats (or even Kittens) lie:

    • Nameless, such cuties!  Reminds me of my two boys when they were younger.  They’re 4 yr now and interrupt the other’s sleep, and look out — the chase is on!  Thanks

    • Thank you, Nameless, for unequivocally demonstrating the CAT is where it’s at!!

  3. MoveOn — Amen!  I was at my friends memorial service this afternoon.  Part of the Hebrew Scripture lesson was from Deuteronomy 30: 19-20 about choosing life.  My mind was pulled back to some of the things we are witnessing with the pseudo Christians — racism; hatred of the LGBT community; bigotry of all stripes; bullying etc.  I only wish that these pseudo Christians could have heard the message I heard today — to choose life!  Not just for the self but also for others.  If one chooses life, they cannot hate, they cannot be bigoted!  The Christian God is not a god of death, but a god of life and calls on all to choose life.  The message has been percolating in my brain all afternoon and evening.  If I can get a copy of the notes I’ll send them to you TC.

New York Times — No wonder the Republican/Teabaggers want to get rid of abortions, contraceptives etc — they want to have a steady supply of cannon fodder for their illegal wars, because like Rmoney did in his much younger years, their sons and daughters will be seeking 4F status.

My father was relatively safe aboard the HMCS Prince Robert in the Canadian Navy during WWII in the Pacific.  But my step father was a paratrooper in Holland, France and Belgium.  From the time he returned until his death in 2004 he never spoke of the war other than to say “I have seen too much”.  The horrors haunted him.  In WWI & WWII, they called it shell shock.  Now it is PTSD. I have never been in the military, so I  can only imagine the horrors of seeing your mates shot or blown up;  I can only imagine the horrors of civilian casualties.  I think that one thing that perhaps makes things worse now is the blurred line between combatants and non combatants — they often look the same.  Soldiers don’t always wear uniforms, and women and children will wear concealed suicide bombs.  These things put a lot more stress on soldiers which could account for the higher suicide rates.  Just a thought.

House of Representatives’ Budget — I might remind the Republican/Teabaggers of the words of their leader — “What is good for the goose is good for the gander”.  If they want to slash agency budgets all to hell, they should expect to do the same with their own budget.  After all, they are just taking up space and not doing the business of the nation.

Cartoon — That’s the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City?  Damn, it looks like Hogwarts Castle in the Harry Potter movies! — all the spires and windows.  So 1978 eh!?  A little behind the times but I suppose better late than never.

    • I’m so glad that you got a dose of authentic Christianity.

Plus poverty is the biggest factor in maintaining an all volunteer army.

That is too rational for Republicans to accept it.

It is the main Temple.  What struck me is that is so rencnt that Romney was still in his 30s when it took place.
