Here’s some linkey-love in return  The best ways you can spread the message to others is to use the share button at the bottom of each article to list our articles on the the networking sites where you belong. Quote PP articles on your own blogs also helps.  The operative commandment here is “thou shalt steal.”  We’re on the same side here, and I encourage it.  Even if you want to repost a whole article, that’s OK.  Just link back, please.  Also, feel free to swipe my graphics in the articles.  If they are labeled with our Politics Plus URL, they are my work.

Here are the top fifteen commenters for January are.  I actually copied them off in time. The widget is in the right column.  I don’t count, as I’m the resident big mouth, and I try to reply to every comment, except replies directed at someone else.  Those who leave their URLs in their comments, get linkey-love here.

We have 623,138 links on other websites, down from 604,268 last month.

Technorati recognizes we exist again, but not as a political blog.  Our authority rating is 468 and our rank is the 3,708th most influential blog of all types in the world.

We have 3,146 articles and 28,590 comments, as of midnight 2/1.

I recommend using your own avatar. Go to Gravatar.  Sign up using the email address you use to post comments here and upload the image you want to use.  Whenever you comment under that email address here or on any WordPress blog (several others too), that image will be your avatar.

Your participation remains a major part of what makes this blog worth reading, not to mention worth writing. I’m pleased to see things picking up after a couple slow months.  Many people who visit here have told me that they come here to read your comments in addition to my articles, and people continue to write comments about your comments on other sites.  Politics Plus exists to help end right-wing insanity and send the Republican Party the way of the Whigs.  Thank you all for all you do, here and elsewhere, to help make that happen.  Together we will make a difference.

  1. You are growing TC! Congrats!!

  2. Those little red dots on the map are growing. That’s all I understand about statistics.

  3. You are doing great!  I’m so honored to share a “top” spot, even though I know I irritate the hell out of you at times – I have a soft spot for PP and you TC keep on keepin on!

    • NOTE: I know this is entirely OT … but yesterday you had asked for some suggestions WRT security systems for your PC, and since I’m not sure if you go back to review old comments, I’m sticking it in here so you’ll have a better chance of seeing it.  And just to be clear, I’d recommend getting both an Anit-Virus AND Spyware setup on your computer.

For FREE AnitVirus software, reviews from PCMag, PCWorld and CNET all agree that  [1] AVG AnitVirus Free Edition 2012 or [2] Avast Free AntiVirus are your best bets.
Here’s a link to the CNET site where you can review the specs and download a FREE copy of AVG.  If you scroll down toward the bottom, you’ll come to an area called “More Popular AntiVirus Software” – and you can see that these are the top two downloads.  So if you’d prefer Avast, just click on its link.

For FREE Spyware software, they recommend [1] Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, [2] Ad-Aware Internet Security and [3] Spybot Search & Destroy.
Even though I have Norton Internet Security (complete package of AntiVirus, Firewall, Spyware, Anti-Spam, Anti-Phishing, etc.) I still also have both Malwarebytes and Ad-Aware.  (I had a problem w/ Spybot really slowing down the computer, so I removed it.)
The one major advantage to Ad-Aware is that it provides some real-time protection, whereas Malwarebytes you have to manually run it.
So here’s a link from CNET you can review and download a FREE copy of Ad-Aware:

Of course you can download any of the others at CNET also, just scroll down to the list of other similar programs toward the bottom and click away.
And be forewarned that when you run a “Complete Scan” of either Malwarebyte or Ad-Aware it may very well take several hours to complete that task.
      • I have Norton 360 Internet which I think is the same as yours Nameless and I like it.  Dell uses Malware when they monitor my computer.  Thanks for your recommendations as I am contemplating upgrading.  My computer regularly shoots out messages of high memory use so I either have more memory added or get a new one.  I think mine is a pentium 3 purchased about April 2005 (Dell Dimension 3100) and was fast when I got it but now it can be very frustrating (I upgraded from a 486 at that point — I can hear you laughing!  Stop it!).  Any way, that’s for the advice.

      • I agree Nameless.  I did get a virus once while using AVG free, but it’s better than nothing.  I also have Malwarebytes and run it monthly.  It has never found anything Ad-Aware missed.

I recommend using a full scan the first time and rarely after that.

    • Lee, I have to admit that is true at times, but agreeing with me in all things has never been a prerequisite for respect and friendship.

  4. I am Very Impressed Tom,  You have alot of talent.  You are a great Political Writer. You have all the facts, figures and findings correct.   It must take you hours of research to put together a Blog to fill us in on whats Really Happening.

    KUDOS !!   to YOU –    For a Great 2011 and a Wonderful 2012 !!

THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. You do such a good job and I know I personally have learned a lot about US politics from you.  That has helped me to look at Canada’s differently and recognise some disturbing concerns about our Baby Bush wannabe, Harper and his minions.

TC, I know you’re concerned about the bandwidth being lower but if you look year-over-year, you’re in a good space for growth over the coming months.  Also, I would expect January with all the festivities still on for the first half month, to be a little slower.

The ‘hole’ in the mid west area of the US is smaller on the new cluster map so you’re getting more coverage there too!

All other categories are up over December.  And then look at your 2011 averages that I included in my comments from December’s report.  Your January 2012 is above those too, so I would say you’re having a good start and growing!

    Way to go my man!

And although I’m interested in my contribution, damn am I ever mouthy!  I seem to talk a lot, but I am enjoying it!

    • Thanks Lynn.  Actually, the bandwidth figure did nit worry me at all.  I used fewer videos in January than normal, and they drive bandwidth.  Also, in December I live streamed an event and that REALLY drives it up if several people watch.

      Thanks for the averages!

  6. We love you in Canada Tom! We get the straight goods from you my man and you are a breath of fresh air in a hailstorm of Right Wing crap out there. Hope you’re well Tom! LD
