Yesterday I continued to improve, even though unpacking and putting away $200 worth of groceries tired me thoroughly.  I’m current with replies.  Today is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, and I am blessed, because the Broncos service will be televised here.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 4:00 (average 4:34).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The Daily Herald: Mitt Romney, a multimillionaire who is by far the wealthiest of the Republican presidential candidates, said he has no plans to release his income tax returns if he wins his party’s nomination.

Romney, whose most recent disclosure in August estimated his personal wealth as high as $250 million, said yesterday he had already released extensive financial information and had no “current plans” to make his tax returns public.

Is he afraid he might lose his Middle Class Mitt, the working man, persona? 🙄

From Time: Congress on Friday approved a two-month renewal of payroll tax cuts for 160 million workers and unemployment benefits for millions, handing President Barack Obama a convincing victory for his jobs agenda.

Back-to-back voice vote approvals of the measure by the Senate and House capped a retreat by House Republicans who had insisted that a full-year bill was the only way to prevent an immediate tax increase on Jan. 1.

My!  Reporting a win for the good guys is a most unusual feeling.  I think I like it.

  1. Off to have brunch w/ some friends and pick up a few last minute grocery items – but for all of you who will be traveling this weekend, be careful … things aren’t always what they seem to be:

(Of course this does NOT explain why Santa thought he could fly through the Christmas tree, either.)

    • Need a name – you must be a generation or two younger – the things you get to cheer up the site with all sorts of images is unbelievable – really fantastic!!! LMAO

      • Why, thank you for your kind words – but I’m 63 years old.

        • Thanks you two.  I’m trying to get through this stuff and feeling shitty because of mother problems today (she has severe Alzheimer’s) and I run into your exchanges.  Thanks LMAO.  I really needed that!

    • Love it!  Enjoy your festivities.

  2. I think I liked the great video the best TC – especially the aide’s (?) expression when Harris (?) tells the guy to “just be quiet” – her eyes start doing a Bachmann – that’s priceless! Romney is so out of touch – no comments here! Your “toon” is right on – except I think leading the slaves in the republican fantasy would be Obama! Thanks for your news – now get back to bed! Take some chicken soup!

  3. I meant to drop in with a comment yesterday. That was our “Christmas Day.”

I’m very happy you’re back in the saddle, Tom. We were ready to call out the hounds to hunt you down and dose you with whatever medications needed to get you better. I guess it was just rest.

    Happy Holidays!

  4. 3:29

Can you imagine the yelling and screaming from republicans if Obama had refused to release his tax returns?  Just more republican hypocrisy.

  5. Mittens — It is interesting the differences in our two processes.  As I understand, our PM must put any business interests in a blind trust while in office.  I will be checking on that further, but I recall that a former PM, Paul Martin whom I greatly admired because he steered the ship into budget surpluses for several years out of deficits, had to put his ownership of Canada Steamship Lines and his investments into a blind trust during his tenure as PM.  Such a vehicle would be good for Presidents too to help stay out of influence peddling and insider trading.  Mittens needs a reality check for ethically behaviour and safe-guards.

And TC, he doesn’t even look middle class — he’s too preppy looking!

Congress — I understand that feeling of reporting a win.  But will the bunch just be back at it in 2 months and will the Democrats hold the line?  I hope they like the feeling too and remember it.  By then, they will have had several primaries so maybe their attention will be diverted.

Speaking of primaries, I heard that old Newtie failed to meet the filing deadline for the Virginia primary and is totally SOL!  The commentator was saying that Newtie was talking up his experience in government as an asset he brings to the table (I believe his comment was that he was the most experienced of all the candidates) and he should have known better.  There was also a comment about the Newster being virtually devoid of competent staff and had no office in Virginia (this part I know nothing about).

Santa — may the big oil companies get coal (higher taxes) in their stockings!

Rep John Fleming — “I’ve yet to meet one person who has a green job! ”  Well considering that Americans are paid in ‘greenbacks’, must be a clear indication of very high unemployment, OR pay is on the barter system for food and necessities, OR that Rep John Fleming is living in a closet and never comes out! (hope he doen’t wear orthopedic shoes otherwise that closet will stink!).

Cartoon — I love the cartoon!  Only one thing wrong, it should also include women, the disabled, the elderly, the hispanics, the . . . all the people that the Republican/Teabaggers are trying to disenfranchise!  I hope this one doesn’t get pulled like that other one.  Apparently, Republican/Teabaggers don’t recognise the truth when they see it.

TC, have a very Merry Christmas and be good to yourself.

    • That’s an excellent idea, but I have to wonder just how blind such trusts are.

      That’s in today’s Open Thread.

      What a fool!

      Too True!

Greeting to be posted as soon as I finish with replies.

  6. Our Christmas was today; now I get the privilige  of cleaning this mess up,  Holy crap, even though my kids are teenagers they can wreck a room in 30 seconds.

Mittens,  how many times have I told you that you are not special.  You’re gonna have to ante up those tax forms buddy.

I really thought Obama was going to cave on this like he has on so many other things.

How  true those last vids and pics are.  If  the Repubs had their way, we’d all be chained up.  Assholes.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
