Yesterday I spent most of the day in bed, but I got up to cover the debate.  Yuck!  I’m current with replies, albeit brief.  Today is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, and the meditation between the Broncos and Bears will be televised here.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:31 (average 4:13).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Business Week: Palestinians are an “invented” people and the peace process in the Middle East is “delusional.” Newt Gingrich, a frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president, said.

What a jerk!  The Palestinian derives from the same root word as Philistine.  If they are “invented”. it was thousands of years ago.

From Crooks and Liars: Our own managing editor here at Crooks and Liars, Tina Dupuy was a guest on Cenk Uygur’s The Young Turks on Current TV this Friday night as part of his Power Panel segment, along with The Huffington Post’s Amanda Terkel and Lucia Graves, and participated in a discussion on Newt Gingrich’s recent rise in the polls and on whether overall President Obama has been good on women’s issues.

Congrats to C&L and Tina Dupuy on well deserved recognition!

From MoveOn.org: Rick Perry’s Anti-Gay Campaign Video: Disliked By Over 300,000 People And Counting.

  1. Cartoon — LMAO!!!  That’s not nice to make me laugh so hard that I can’t breathe and I’m in great pain in my back and ribs with every giggle!  Great cartoon!

Cenk Uygur’s The Young Turks — On Newt, certainly consensus that Newt is a weaker candidate than Romney when it comes to racing against Obama, but no consensus on who is responsible.  After he apparently said that anyone who quotes me directly is lying, and his gaff on  the Palestinians being an invented people, I question whether he could win a game of bingo!  There was agreement that Mr Obama has 3 thumbs up on women’s issues, but agreement that he needs to do more.

Newt — Newt is such an idiot, and this clown is supposed to be an historian?!?  Using Newt’s logic, then the Israelis are an invented people, as are Americans and a host of other peoples.  This SOB needs to be newtered now.

Perry — What would that dumbass know about being Christian, a true Christian?  Jesus, the centre of true Christianity preaches a message of love and compassion.  Perry’s message is about hate and intolerance.  Perry needs to listen to the following on Care2.  Fortunately I saw it yesterday but it has been blocked today re copyright (Care 2 and Youtube). Revised link below was working just before 11:30 pm today

    Jesus Responds To Rick Perry.

I wish you all could hear it.  It is very funny and spot on in its critiicism of Perry’s version of Christianity.  I’m 595,830 on the dislike side.
  2. Great cartoon! Newt is a felonious Trump, just as arrogant but slightly smarter, with more political savvy!

As for Perry – I think it was Cenk who pointed out that the jacket he wore in that ad was the same worn by Heath Ledger in “Brokeback Mountain” – a bit ironic I would say! The ad was more like something I’d expect 30-50 yrs ago, I dare say that even most republicans would think it rather offensive to date themselves in that bigoted a fashion – even if they thought it and said the same in certain “venues” – I think they’d rather leave the subject as well as abortion alone and just speak out about “family values”. It shows how out of touch he really is! I won’t talk about “jesus” today!!!  🙂

  3. On that homophobic Perry ad, I came across it very early because I was about #10,000 Dislike.  But on revisiting it frame-by-frame, I’ve noted a very subliminal message that is actually fairly supportive of gays.  I got some screen captures of it:

  4. 2:46 I’m a whiz today!

I disliked the ad on youtube also. Don’t remember the number.
