  1. Thanks TomCat!  That means a lot to this Canuck.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Back before I lost my hearing, I felt that Canada had the most beautiful national anthem in the world.  (Although you do lose some points for inventing Poutine – please tell me that is NOT a major dish at your Thanksgiving meal!).  Your anthem:

      • The Québecois invented poutine.  You apparently don’t like it but if you had the real poutine like mama makes you might like it on occassion.  Don’t judge poutine by the KFC and Burger King varieties.  Even the New York Fries version was okay the last time I had it about 10 years ago, but it still isn’t mama’s.  All are pure grease!  But mama’s with real fresh potatoes, beef gravy, and cheese curds is a nice change but still fattening.

And no, this is not part of Thanksgiving dinner!  Traditional fare is turkey (yuummm!), sage stuffing, brussel sprouts, carrot/turnip mash, green peas, some have mashed potatoes while others have yams, cranberry relish (cranberries and whole oranges (including skins) through a mincer and then refrigerated) or sauce, turkey gravy,  pumpkin or apple (with cheddar cheese slices) pie.  Many have wine but I can’t drink the stuff so it’s mulled apple juice (apple juice simmered about 2 hours with cinnamon sticks and cloves).  It tastes great, the house smells wonderful!  How does that sound to you?

BTW, thanks for the O Canada link.  I have trouble remembering the english words (they’ve changed a bit since I was a kid) but the French is no problem.  I usually sing the French version.

    • YVW, Lynn. 😀
