Newt’s Contract ON America

Newt Gingrich made it official yesterday, formally announcing his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination.  I’m amazed that he has the audacity to run, considering his hypocrisy and lack of integrity.  The sad thing is that he just might have a chance considering the weakness of his Republican competition.  Newt promises a new contract with America.  However, as we shall see, anything this … person tries to implement is sure to be a contract ON America.

Newt Gingrich of Georgia, the latest entrant into the 2012 Republican presidential race, says he will offer a new "Contract With America" similar to the 1994 document that helped him become the first Republican House speaker in 40 years.

Gingrich, who formally announced his candidacy yesterday, said on Fox News Channel’s "Hannity" that he would ask Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio to join him with an agenda that a Republican Congress would pass and a Republican president would sign into law.

"If we had a contract in the fall of 2012 and we had an election on core principles, we would have a mandate on the very first day," said Gingrich, 67…

It’s hard to find a bigger hypocrite than Newt.  He dumped his first wife while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer to marry his mistress.  Then, at the same time he was trying to impeach Bill Clinton for a BJ, he was screwing another mistress.  He dumped his second wife to marry her.  Look at this article from August 2010.

12NewtHypocriteThe September issue of Esquire features an interview with Marianne Ginther, the second wife of perennial Republican presidential nominee Newt Gingrich. The two were married for more than 18 years, as were Gingrich and his first wife, Jackie Battley. The Ginther and Battley unions each lasted nearly twice as long as his third and current marriage, to former congressional aide Callista Bisek, with whom Gingrich had been having an affair while still married to Ginther. Actually, in a uncomfortable twist, Gingrich first courted Ginther while still married to Battley. If you’re confused, that’s because it’s confusing. Part of his plan is to restore America’s morality to Republican standards.  He uses hatred for the LGBT community and opposition to women’s rights to distract us from the truth that Republican morality begins with “im”.

He is also the only Speaker in history to be fined and censured for ethics violations, as this January 1997 article shows.

12NewtFinedThe House voted overwhelmingly yesterday to reprimand House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and order him to pay an unprecedented $300,000 penalty, the first time in the House’s 208-year history it has disciplined a speaker for ethical wrongdoing.

The ethics case and its resolution leave Gingrich with little leeway for future personal controversies, House Republicans said. Exactly one month before yesterday’s vote, Gingrich admitted that he brought discredit to the House and broke its rules by failing to ensure that financing for two projects would not violate federal tax law and by giving the House ethics committee false information…

…The 395 to 28 vote closes a tumultuous chapter that began Sept. 7, 1994, when former representative Ben Jones (D-Ga.), then running against Gingrich, filed an ethics complaint against the then-GOP whip. The complaint took on greater significance when the Republicans took control of the House for the first time in four decades, propelling Gingrich into the speaker’s chair… [emphasis added]

Look at that vote count.  His corruption was so egregious that even his GOP pals wouldn’t goose-step behind him.

The danger is that he’s as slick as he is shallow, and he has lots of financial backing, from Citizens United, for example, so it’s important that America remembers Newt as the scum-bag he is, with apologies to more respectable scum-bags.

  1. This guy has so much baggage, from the government shut-down to ethics violations to the Clinton impeachment to “It doesn’t matter what I live” to being the poster boy for Republican hypocrisy about marriage. If he’s the nominee, the election will turn into the same kind of circus as the Republican primaries.

    • Infidel, I don’t think he will grab the brass ring, but I don’t think anyone but a circus clown can survive the Republican primaries. They have been feeding their rabid base insanity for so long that the base is addicted to it.

  2. Crank up the late night infomercials — Newt’s back in business.

  3. Given Newt’s frequent philandering and craven, crass treatment of his first wife – telling her it’s divorce time while she’s in the hospital … recovering from cancer surgery – I think I got a bumpersticker for him:

    Newt Gingrich in 2012
You Just KNOW How Much He Loves America …
    Unless It Gets Cancer!

Plus his own website can’t even spell his new (and THIRD) wife’s name correctly. Pssst – Newtie, old boy …it’s CaLLista, NOT Calista
You can click on the Link in this Tweet to view Google documenting the seven misspellings of Callista – all at Newt’s own website:

Oh, yeah … he’s presidential material!

    • LOL Nameless. Consider this though. Callista is a Republican woman by choice. As a Republican woman, she exists for the benefit of men, so with no disrespect of your handle, what does she need a name for?

  4. “Newt Gingrich in 2012
You Just KNOW How Much He Loves America …
    Unless It Gets Cancer!”

That’s absolutely hysterical! And it wouldn’t be if it weren’t so true.

  5. Tom, you could be right, he may have a chance of winning, but I think a lot of it is going to depend on the state of forgiveness, or not, of the southern Bible thumpers. He has never polled well in the south and I read somewhere on Alternet this morning that while he had a lot of support and “forgiveness” from the evangelical males, the females of the species are not so forgiving. It will also be interesting to see how his new RC friends feel about his adultery and divorces.

    • Charles, I think they’ll bend over and say Ba-a-a-a-a to whatever they are ordered to believe, but some of the extreme right ladies may go Bobbit.

  6. I say, “Run, Newt, run. And please pick Palin as your VP candidate.”

  7. Good idea Dave–but crazy as things are these days–who knows what could happen–rofl

  8. Newton Lloyd Gingrich (ha – what a fucked up name!) has no chance in hell of becoming president because of his sordid past with women and his attitude towards them as well. People don’t forget that kind of fuck up.

  9. “Contract ON America” was my name for the first edition, in 1996. I said then, I long for the good old days, when a newt was just a lizardlike amphibian.

    • Welcome TLB! 🙂

I’m not surprised. For most of the 90s I was preoccupied with a personal problem and out of the loop. Congrats on your foresight!

  10. Considering what he did the last time he was in office, not to mention his messy personal life, anyone who votes for Newt needs to have their head examined. 👿

  11. Hi Tom, I think we can all agree that this whole thing has been being set up over the last couple years. Good old Karl Rove, the Kock brothers & the rest of their gang have been hard at work setting things up for Newt to run for president. The republicans have been trying to implement newt’s original contract on america since day one of Obama’s presidential election. If people were to really wake up & take a very close look at newt’s original contract on america, (read between the lines of it) they’ll all see that everything in it is what the new republican party is all about, Facists, at they’re finest trying to gain control of the people, by taking away most everything the people need to survive on they’re own, so that we all have to beg for what we the people need, only to be told, too bad, or to kiss their ass’s & lick their ____’s (shoe’s) & then they’ll say, um, we’ll think about it, only to be laughing about how they ain’t gonna do jack shit for any of us. Making us all slaves to their new american world order. If, (BIG IF) they gain total control here, they’ll attempt to take over the world, because they think they know the reason why hitler failed, (because he didn’t take total control of his own people first) & they honestly believe they can achieve his true vision of a new world order. You know how they play, anything they accuse the democrats or any body else of, they themselves are guilty of in the first place. I am at a loss to think of anything that is more evil than the republican playbook, other than the devil himself & he very well could be old newton fig bar himself. How’s this for a true to life conspiracy theory.? Thanks, 🙂

    • Hi Scott. The one thing about which I might disagree is that the roots of this go back much further than the election of Obama. This was the purpose for Bush’s election.

      • Yes, I remember very well. All these things actually started back in the 1950’s and started to become even more widespread when Reagan got in & has been escalating ever since. I was born in the early 60’s, but my father was able to fill me in on the 50’s and the times of the great depression, in which he was a young boy. His grandfather told him as a boy that if he ever voted for a republican, he deserves what he gets, which won’t be much. When I was 18 & felt I needed to get into a job training program in the early 80’s, I was told that reagan had just cut all funding and the place would be closing up. Man was I pissed about that. I was able to get a pell grant to attent the local community college, which did help at the time. I remember bush’s father screwing things up during his four years and crashing the economy almost as bad as JR did this time, because he continued reagan’s policies and thru in a bunch of his own screwed up policies & his other son crashed the saving’s & loan’s. My family at that time nearly lost everything. We even had to sell our 5 bedroom 2 bath house that was worth over 100,000 at the time for 52,000. The economy was so bad we had to move to vegas and take jobs in the casino’s & we were very lucky that things turned out ok back then. I’m stuggling like everyone, but I’m hanging on as good as possible to the home I have now, atleast I’m not underwater with it, thank God, like we ended up under bush’s daddy. I sure hope we can get rid of these asshole republicans & teabaggers in the next election, before they cause to much trouble, & take out all the ones of either party that agree with their policies. I believe we’ll all make out ok eventually. I always try to keep my faith about that no matter how things are right now. Great talking with you, we’ll be talking again, Scott. 🙂

        • Thanks, Scott. Many can trace crisis in their family histories to Republican rule. Most of the ones who cannot, are the very rich that benefit from it. When Crawford Caligula Bushwhacked the economy, way before the Republican recession, I was replaced with a low paid new hire. My company was in a budget crisis, but I can’t say I’m sad that the lost their two largest accounts. My next job had 2/3 the hours at 2/3 the hourly wage and no health care.

          Welcome anytime.
