Another day of torment here.  I hope that there will come a day that I don’t spend the majority of every hour thinking about a cigarette.  I’m up to date on comments.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 4:15 (average 5:08).  To do it, click here. How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Arizona Family: A well-known human rights activist and his colleague were arrested Thursday afternoon at the State Capitol.

It seems that state Senate Majority Leader, Russell Pearce, only allows white nativist activists in the capitol building, not Latinos.

From Channel 6 News: Space Shuttle Discovery launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Thursday afternoon to begin an 11-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The STS-133 mission is Discovery’s final scheduled flight.

I remember the Sputnik launch and have followed the space program since.  At the rate we are destroying this planet, we should be potting more effort into finding another place to live.

From Moveon.org: On Saturday, February 26, at noon local time, we are organizing rallies in front of every statehouse and in every major city to stand in solidarity with the people of Wisconsin. We demand an end to the attacks on worker’s rights and public services across the country. We demand investment, to create decent jobs for the millions of people who desperately want to work. And we demand that the rich and powerful pay their fair share.

Health and distance keep me from attendance, but I’ll be there in spirit and encourage the rest of you to attend the event in your area.

  1. USA Today has a fascinating timeline animation of how the International Space Station grew (and grew and grew) from the original Zarya module (about the size of an RV) back in November, 1998 to it’s present size – bigger than a Boeing 767:

And your MoveOn link to locate a rally near you is broken – but I think this one works:

  2. TomCat,
Congrats on giving up snoking. As a snoker who quit cold turkey 15 years ago after 29 years of smoking, I know how hard it is. ALWAYS keep a carrot, some celery, or some saltines on hand. Every time you get the urge, munch on one of those. It will help with the oral fixation part of it and may even distract you. BTW, flavored cream cheese in a slice of celery is quite good! Good luck, and pretty soon the craving WILL disappear – FOREVER!

    • Thanks Jack, but you’re advice might kill me. I’m highly allergic to celery. I know how I’d like to deal with that oral fixation. Never mind. 😉

  3. 4:40 I had a good run. It’s your turn. 18 out of 56 (321)

I’ve got good news and bad news for you. The good news – yes, the craving will go away. The bad news – it will take a while, maybe a long while. Hang in there. You can do it. You are stronger than a cigarette!
