Bill O’Reilly does not get the attention he used to.  Between Glen Beck and Sean Hannity, Bill had become the number three idiot at Fox, the Republican Ministry of Propaganda.  But we could always count on Keith Olbermann to put him in his place every week or two, by pointing out either the stupidity or the hatefulness in his extreme positions.  But with Keith gone, it appeared hi might get away with it.  Last night, Lawrence O’Donnell picked up Keith’s mantle and tore into O’Reilly and Faux Noise.

Fox_News_NaziLawrence O’Donnell took a page out of his former colleague Keith Olbermann’s book when he delivered a scathing condemnation of Bill O’Reilly on his Monday show. Among other things, O’Donnell called his time slot rival a “joke” and a serial liar.

O’Donnell’s takedown was prompted by a comment O’Reilly made in a recent broadcast, where he said there were “strains of anti-Americanism” on MSNBC. O’Donnell said this was an example of O’Reilly’s ease with falsehoods.

“He has by now figured out exactly what his audience wants to hear, and that’s what he delivers,” he said. “And when that requires lying, O’Reilly can do it without blinking because he’s discovered that there’s a lot of money to be made in those lies.”… [emphasis added]

Thank you Lawrence.  I could not have said it better!

  1. O’Donnel is great…no Keith Olbermann, but he does get my viewership on a regular basis. At last a Liberal news outlet …..since all the news but FOX is liberal anyway according to the conservatards! Just keep reminding your friends that Conservative means LESS(freedom, education, truth, safety, trust…less!) & Liberal means MORE(freedom, safety, education, etc)…..and we certainly aren’t talking government!

  2. I GREATLY miss Keith Olbermann, but the tandem of O’Donnell, Maddow, and now Ed Schultz (less refuned than Keith or O’Donnell, but every bit as hard hitting) is a powerful antidote to the absolute bullshit over at Fox. I saw O’Donnell’s takedown of Billo and it was great. Now I’d like to see all three take down that crazy Glenn Beck!

  3. New messenger – good work

  4. I think O’Donnell’s coming into his game.

  5. Lawrence O’Donnell does say it better than you do. Because he doesn’t need to stoop to using photo-shopped ein fuhrer images as you do, to make his point. Cheap shot. Reminds me of what a Republican would do.

    • Vig, I would agree were there not so much justification for it. When Republicans do it, it’s just a lie. When I do it, it’s not a cheap shot, because republicans are the ones spreading lies as propaganda, invoking policies based on racial hatred, interfering with free elections, disenfranchising voters, etc. Those are things that Nazi’s did. I’m not calling them Nazi’s but their behavior is similar enough that the allegory is valid.

  6. If BillO was near as eloquent or had learned near as much vocabulary as O’Donnell he may not be staying silent which would make this more fun to watch. But it is just a man kicking a dog story. Except in this case the dog needs a swift kick in the rear at least thrice a week.

  7. Glad O’Donnell isn’t letting O’Reilly get away with anything. Wish Keith were going to be on a channel I actually have access to. Don’t even know how to get the channel he ended up on. But I agree, the lineup is still good and still all progressive, so that’s a relief. And of course I love Rachel.
