Two of Arizona’s most prominent bigots did not fare well yesterday.  DOJ sued Joe Arpaio over civil rights abuses and Jan Brewer made a complete fool of herself.

Once, thirty years ago, I spent a weekend in the Maricopa County Jail.  I was picked up on a Friday night on a random stop and released on Monday morning when I went to court and proved that I really had paid the speeding ticket they said was delinquent.  While I was there I witnesses extreme racism against Latinos.  Guards called them every derogatory name I have ever heard and beat one man brutally for throwing up.  I hear things are even worse since Crazy Joe took over.

3arpaio The Justice Department filed a lawsuit on Thursday against Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County for not cooperating with an investigation into whether his department was systematically violating the rights of Hispanics.

Obama administration officials called the suit the first time in 30 years that the federal government had to sue to compel a law enforcement agency to cooperate with an investigation concerning Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

“The actions of the sheriff’s office are unprecedented,” Thomas E. Perez, assistant attorney general for the department’s civil rights division, said in a statement. “It is unfortunate that the department was forced to resort to litigation to gain access to public documents and facilities.”… [emphasis added]

If I were guilty as sin, I might stall too.

On to Jan “Show me your papers” Brewer.

3brewer It will go down as one of the most painful openings to a political debate in recent memory.

Gov. Jan Brewer stumbled and stammered through her opening statement during a televised debate Wednesday night, suffering through an embarrassing, cringe-eliciting pause that lasted more than 10 seconds.

With her hands clasped in front of her, she looked at the camera, then down, possibly at notes, and back up at the camera. She smiled, let out a loud exhale, then resumed her statement with a pronouncement of her record as governor.

"We have, uh, did what was right for Arizona," Brewer said, using a grammatical misconstruction she uttered twice during the debate.

Then, she bolted from a post-debate question-and-answer session with reporters after refusing to respond to queries about a past statement about bodies supposedly found beheaded in the Arizona desert… [emphasis added]

Brewer was right about one thing.  The did demonstrate the difference between her and her Democratic opponent.  Terry Goddard is not a bigoted idiot.

When I was a teenager, a group of us would spend Halloween night partying in the Sleepy Hollow graveyard at Tarry Town.  We feigned fear anticipating the appearance of the headless horseman.  Now we face the genuine fear headless bodies sneaking across the border from Mexico. Why fear that?  Well, if they have no heads, you know they’ll be voting Republican!

  1. Brewer could be caught screwing a Gila Monster in the desert and these mindless sheep would vote for her because she’s a Hispanic hatin republican. Her lizard screwing would be used as proof that republicans love animals and PETA is not to be trusted.

  2. Excellant TC and Truth.

Here in Colorado the baggers elected this Maes fellow to run for Guv and he’s even worse than this women and Tancredo together. The Goppers are trying to get him to step down but he says no way.

  3. You think it’s bad watching these buffoons and the antics of the State of Arizona antics in general in the MSM, my family and I are lefty libs and we LIVE in Arizona! It’s a beautiful state filled with ugly people! It’s worse than painful to watch these idiots and lot of idiot citizens CLOSE UP!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I’m as disgusted with the people that would vote for her. They must be of the same cloth.
Arizona is one place I would never set foot in. There’s a few other places but this is top on my hate list.

  5. Thank Lisa for reminding me to find the toolbar. 😀

  6. Once again it is shown that bigoted idiots do stupid things.

  7. Great minds and all that…I also did a post about Jan Brewer’s Cheech and Chong imitation. “Uh, wow man, uh, I forgot where I was…”

Before I published my post, I kept looking for updates on that story, to make sure she hadn’t had a stroke or anything. But apparently there was nothing medical about it, so I posted it.

I like Arizona. I feel sorry for the nonrednecks who live there.

    • Great minds indeed, Tom. But if Brewer were to smoke weed,e. it would be fatal. On contact with her lips, the THC would transform into strychnine.

  8. When talking about all the beheadings that ended up with bodies littering her desert, Brewer was simply misunderstood. What she was actually doing was trying out a new promotion for her state:

It’s easy to get “ahead” in Arizona!

  9. TC – Well, darn, there ya go again. I also posted about this unbelievably shallow woman. In response to a comment – my one and only so far – I said: “At least most Democratic men have the smarts to promote intelligent women.” I just don’t understand what Republican men see in these stupid, stupid women. Maybe they like them that way – they’re more controllable.

Anyway, I used to live in AZ – in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. When I wasn’t playing golf I was driving all over the state – camping, fishing, sightseeing. Once I got out of my neighborhood I found some really wonderful people – warm and friendly. Not all of AZ is like the Phoenix area. Tucson is absolutely lovely as are the people and the northern section is beautiful. People shouldn’t judge the rest of the state by these nuts. It simply isn’t fair.

One of our most liberal bloggers is Darlene. She is on my blog roll and is from Tucson. She’s one sharp lady.

Prediction: Hickenlooper is going to slam dunk those two other assholes.

    • Great minds fall in the same ditch, Leslie. 😉 Perhaps that string, intelligent women do not become Republicans, unless they are treacherously self-serving.

  10. The funny thing for me is that given the Hispanic-American population growth as compared to whitey they will be running everything in a few years and Brewer will be a question on future editions of Trivial Pursuit.

  11. Klan Brewer really is as dumb as a rock.

  12. When I first heard about her performance and the “headless bodies” I was surprised, but what made my jaw drop was that the right-wing still seem to support her and believe she is doing a great job…

Her opponent better hammer away because with no more debates, she is just going to “retreat and reload”, as Palin the idiot would say…

    • Kevin, she announced this morning that the only reason she debated is to get some federal campaign cash and promised that she’s done with debates.

  13. She’s backed off the headless bodies. She ‘mispoke.”

  14. Awesome TC – thank you.

Please do not show that woman’s face on this blog again. I have a hard time not puking when I see that ugly woman with her ugly policies. 😡

    • Lisa, I looked for this for a weeks. Problem was that I was looking for toolbars that support emoticons. I found it when I changed the search to smileys.
