Yesterday I spent most of the day at appointments, so I’m running short of sleep.  I’m current on replies.  Today I have housework to do and sleep to catch up.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:14 (average 4:30).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Reuters: Democrat Elizabeth Warren raised $3.15 million in the first stage of her bid for the Senate from Massachusetts, the former Obama administration official’s campaign said on Monday.

More than 11,000 individuals in Massachusetts alone gave to Warren’s campaign, and the vast majority of the contributions were $100 or less.

Way to go!

From CBS: California Gov. Jerry Brown on Sunday signed a bill banning the open carrying of handguns in public, making California the fifth U.S. state to do so.

When I lived in Arizona, that had an open carry law, and I saw weapons used in threats on more than one occasion.  I see nothing in the Second Amendment that guarantees open carry.

From Crooks and Liars: SNL spoofs Fox and Friends.

A refreshing break!

    Good for Elizabeth Warren!

    SNL portrayed Bocephus very well.

  2. Puzzle — 4.26!!!!!  Under the average!!!!!  You saw it here first folks!!!!!

Great for Elizabeth Warren!  This shows her ‘every person’ appeal.  Based on the figures for the only other Democrat in the primary, she is well ahead.  The Republicans didn’t fair as well during the same period, but they do have a big war chest.  However (almost certain) Warren represents more voters in her fund raising since most were $100 or less.  You go girl!

Good on Jerry Brown signing this into law.  Of course there was some dissent.  ” . . . Republican Assemblyman Tim Donnelly described the bill as an “unconstitutional assault on our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.”

The second amendment reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”  Nowhere does it say anything about openly carrying a gun.  Had Brown signed a law stipulating that a citizen could not carry a firearm, that might be different.  Personally, I don’t see the need to carry a firearm unless it is part of your job ie police officer.  The amendment was made in 1791 when it was appropriate.

Well I wish I could have seen the SNL clip but it isn’t available in my area.  Guess I would have to move to the States but that isn’t going to happen because I like my medical coverage in Canada too much.

Republican Environmentalism — Yup!  that looks about right.  You could add a little oil spill on water to represent the Arctic oil drilling by Shell Oil even though that was authorised by the current EPA etc.  I’ll bet that Shell contributes to Republican coffers.

  3. 4:36 Yep, that looked like the real Bo’sheeple’us all right!  On SNL.

  4. 3:25  I am 91 out of 284 (320)
