Can Flynn Nail Trump?

I thought I was taking most of today off, but I did not want to let this story pass without commenting.  I and several others have commented on how quiet one of Trump’s lackeys with a huge smoking gun has been of late, and now we know why.  Alt-Right Nazi Michael T. Flynn, pictured below with Putin and another US traitor, whose efforts helped invest Trump, asked for immunity for his testimony.

Michael T. Flynn, the former national security adviser, has offered to be interviewed by House and Senate investigators who are examining the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia in exchange for immunity from prosecution, according to his lawyer and a congressional official.

But the congressional official said investigators were unwilling to broker a deal with Mr. Flynn — who resigned last month for misleading White House officials about his contacts with Russia’s ambassador to the United States — until they are further along in their inquiries and they better understand what information Mr. Flynn might offer as part of a deal.

In a statement on Thursday evening, Mr. Flynn’s lawyer confirmed discussions with the House and Senate intelligence committees about possible testimony by his client. The lawyer, Robert Kelner, did not provide specifics about the terms under which Mr. Flynn would testify, but said that “no reasonable person, who has the benefit of advice from counsel, would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized, witch-hunt environment without assurances against unfair prosecution.”

“General Flynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should circumstances permit,” the statement said…

From <NY Times>

Rachel Maddow covered the issue in two segments.

Flynn testimony offer jolts Trump Russia case

Shane Harris, senior writer for The Wall Street Journal, talks with Rachel Maddow about breaking news that disgraced Donald Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn has offered to testify in the Russia investigation in exchange for immunity.

I think I know how Flynn made it through the vetting process.  The Trump campaign, and later, the Trump Reich knew all about Flynn’s crimes. At least, they looked the other way, because they did not expect him to be publicly exposed.  More likely, they knew, because they were all accomplices, before, during and after the fact.

Would Flynn testimony implicate ‘higher ups?’

Congressman Jim Himes, member of the House Intelligence Committee, talks with Rachel Maddow about what it would mean to grant immunity the Mike Flynn in exchange for testimony and what considerations would go into granting such immunity.

That the Trump campaign "amplified and repeated" Russia’s efforts also indicates collusion between the two.  The notion that the Trump Reich is spying on the criminal investigation against them by reviewing raw FBI intercepts boggles the mind!

So what now?  The bottom line on immunity for Flynn is simple.  If his testimony will bring indictments for lesser players below his own rank, forget it!  But if his testimony is sufficient to bring down Trump and Pence, give it to him.  Now we wait an see.  Until then…

  1. I hope that he can give testimony to bring down drumpthinskin, and his cohorts. They deserve to be investigated, from Day One!  imho.

Gotta run, company in for a visit.

    Take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  2. Flynn knows the exact reponse you give – "If his testimony will bring indictments for lesser players below his own rank, forget it!  But if his testimony is sufficient to bring down Trump and Pence, give it to him." – will be everyone's reaction.  Therefore, we – whoever we is in this investigation – will not hear as much as a crumb without a commitment in place first.  Certainly, he did not expect to be thrown under the bus.  If he is mad enough to do some throwing under the bus of his own – Boy Howdy!

The vetting process – all Dolt.45 nominees to any position whatever were only vetted as to how fast the nominee could destroy whatever part of government they were ostensibly being nominated to defend.  He passed with flying colors.  I expect Rachel knows exactly what god sense it makes, but is taking the opposite tack  to emphasize how irrational the entire administration is.

  3. I, and I believe millions like me,  expect that Flynn is jockeying for the best bargaining position he can get, and his lawyer will work hard for that position.  A rule of thumb is that the first person to sing gets the least punishment, if any.  If I were him I'd be ready to enter the FBI's incognito program, or whatever it is called, about now.  The concept that the CIA, and others in the spying world, have dirt on Rumpshit, and are waiting for the fine tuned, opportune time to put it out for consumption, bubbles up into my consciousness, and creates still more hope that this nightmare may soon come crashing down!

  4. I hope this means the house of cards is ready to fall!

  5. According to The New York times: '

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump urged his former national security adviser to strike an immunity deal Friday, even as congressional investigators rebuffed Michael Flynn's offer of cooperation in exchange for protection from prosecution.

Trump tweeted that Flynn, the adviser he fired in February, should ask for immunity because he's facing "a witch hunt." '

That sounds to me like "deal maker" Drumpf had a word with Flynn on who they could sacrifice to this "witch hunt", i.e. who could not do further harm to those higher up and who could take the fall to keep those darn Democrats happy and off Drumpf's back from then on. It seems like Flynn is willing to play the fall guy as long as he has immunity. Flynn had no qualms working for Turkey while he was on the security council, so the the committees would do well to follow any money flowing towards him back to its source too. I think Flynn's immunity request stinks to high heavens.

The trouble is that there have been so many red herrings and diversions, the latest Nunes' seeing secret intelligence reports and his handling of it, there's no telling what will happen. As long as Nunes stays on as chairman, too much attention and energy is taken away from what really matters: how high-up did the dealings with Russia go, and who is a traitor or not.

And in the meantime do not forget to pay attention to what is quietly going on in Congress. They're passing bills when nobody's looking and I don't hear a lot of outrage from Democrats on those.

    RESIST & PERSIST!

  6. Alternet has an article about Flynn's request for immunity.  The Senate Intelligence Committee has apparently denied Flynn's request — immunity is "not on the table".  However, that does not mean that things won't change.  I find it very telling that Flynn is on the record a few years ago as saying that immunity usually implies guilt, and now he is requesting immunity.  If he is granted immunity, it better be worth it!

    Resist and Persist!!!

  7. Becoming clearer and clearer that Richard "I-Am-Not-A-Crook" Nixon was just a piker – a rank amateur – when it comes to corruption.

  8. Thanks all!  Hugs!

  9. Congratulations to Putin for playing his chess game of manipulations. Putin has played not-my-president Drumpf for a fool. If Hillary had won the election, Putin knew damn well that he could not put anything over her as Hillary is very knowledgeable on international affairs and would not back down on her position on Ukraine.

Putin has done a masterful job of destabilizing the american presidency with not-my-president Drumpf and his underlings. Putin has made a mockery of not-my-president Drumpf which has been seen and heard around the world. Putin even got not-my-president Drumpf to think and consider dropping out of NATO. Putin's end game, so far, is to destabilize EU & NATO and, of course, the USA's presidency.

It would not surprise me that Putin has had a hand in getting not-my-president in the 2016 election. There were many other factors which allowed not-my-president Drumpf to win without the popular vote. The list is unfinished at the moment.

As far as FBI Director Comey is concerned, he may think he has enough evidence that he does not need Flynn's testimony and revelations on not-my-president Drumpf. Remember that Comey had emails to be "investigated" on Hillary just days prior to the 2016 election. Comey is not to be trusted, after all, as he is a republican.

Did Putin have his hand in Brexit, possibly now in France and Germany with their upcoming elections? What about in other EU countries?

Be sure to read Gene J's commentary above. Foods for thought. lol.

  10. Considering that Flynn once said if you ask for immunity you are guilty.

Hang him and the Trump from a bridge so they don't despoil any Washinton Monuments.
