My day off seems to have helped.  I’m still tired and swamped, but not so much so as to render me unable to function.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today;s took me 3:14 (average 4:59).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Huffington Post: More Americans feel comfortable with a presidential candidate who identifies as gay or lesbian than with one who identifies as an evangelical Christian, according to a new poll.

The latest WSJ/NBC poll listed a series of qualities in a potential presidential candidate and asked respondents whether they’d "be enthusiastic," "be comfortable with," "have some reservations about" or "be very uncomfortable with" a candidate with each of those qualities.

The results revealed that Americans are actually quite open to having a gay presidential candidate. Sixty-one percent said they would be either enthusiastic about or comfortable with a gay or lesbian candidate, while only 37 percent said they would have reservations or be uncomfortable.

That’s not a hard choice. Gay is certainly preferable to evil, a word that identifies Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christianity.

From Daily Kos: Own man, my foot. From The Washington Post:

When asked this week at an exclusive Manhattan gathering about who advises him on U.S.-Israel policy, Jeb Bush surprised many of the 50-plus attendees by naming his brother, former president George W. Bush, as his most influential counselor.

“If you want to know who I listen to for advice, it’s him,” Bush said Tuesday, speaking to a crowd of high-powered financiers at the Metropolitan Club, according to four people present.

That’s strike 4 on Strike 3!

From Alternet: As we’ve learned through the course of the month, David Letterman’s departure means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For Americana musicians, it means saying goodbye to one of the genre’s biggest champions. For POTUS, it means losing an “escape” after a long day at work. And for the 20-time visitor of the show, Tina Fey? It means saying sayonara to gendered expectations of wearing fancy dresses.

I came to love Tina, as faux Palin.  I bet Drill Baby Dingbat, aka Bloody Bullseye Barbie, is green with envy!

  1. 3:21  I guess I am moving like a turtle today.

    • 3:47  I am amazed at my time.  I've just spent 4+ hours in the emergency this afternoon and I am shaking like a leaf.  I'm surprised that my time is over 1 minute under the average because right I feel like crap!

  2. 4:10 average (still) 4:59.  My BFF loves turtles the way I love frogs.

HuffPo – It's not a hard choice for me either, but for way too many it is, or it goes the other way.  (Some would say that Buchanan was actually the first gay President, so the next one may be the second anyway.)  And too bad they didn't ask about atheists.

Daily Kos – And of course taking advice from W means you are really taking it from Karl Rove and Dick Vader.  Speechless.

Alternet – He should have it framed, like they do with retired athlete's jerseys.  Except it is better lookng!

Cartoon – If there were any around, I'm sure they hit the flames.

  3. Puzzle — 3:47  I am amazed at my time.  I've just spent 4+ hours in the emergency this afternoon and I am shaking like a leaf.  I'm surprised that my time is over 1 minute under the average because right I feel like crap!

Update — I had IV antibiotics and I have a prescription for oral antibiotics starting tomorrow.  Just in the 4 hours in emergency, the infection progressed.  I have to use warm compresses 4 times a day and get 'rough' with the scabs so the poison gets out.  When was the last time you were told to pick at the scabs?! The why makes perfect sense so I think, rather than a compress, I'll use an epsom salts foot/leg soak which should draw the poison out better.  Walking is very painful right now.  If it is about the same or a bit better tomorrow, then it's carry on.  But if it's worse, then it's back to the hospital.  Fortunately, that is literally right across the street.

Huffington Post — There is NO choice!  GBLTQ are ordinary people like you and me while Republicanus/Teabaggerum pseudo Christians are evil incarnate.  Enough said!

Daily Kos — "… his brother, former president George W. Bush, as his most influential counselor."  My, didn't Jebby make a wrong move!  I wonder if the sheeple will remember W, the war mongering fool?

Alternet — I saw this yesterday and absolutely cracked up laughing!  Seems there was a bit of twerking going on too!  Letterman is sure having a laugh!

Cartoon — The fascists really like to control things!  We'd bw better without any of them.

OK, that's it for me right now.  Time to lie down and take some Tylenol.  Later dudes and dudettes!

    • Relieved to hear you got medical attentions for you ferocious feline's fanged flak attack.

Please, do keep us updated on your progress.

      • Nameless, your counsel was very wise.  Thank you!  I was in such pain that I resorted to using crutches through the night when I had to get up to pee, which was about every hour.  I have a ripping headache this morning and I am tired.  The headache is likely from the lack of sleep and the lack of food and water . . . I kept throwing up yesterday evening.  So today is antibiotics (Apo Amoxi Clav 500's), 2 tablets 3 times, and compresses as well as lots of water and a bit of food.

Thank you everybody for your care and support.  I love you guys!

        • Had to Google it, and I see that Apo-Amoxi Clav in Canada is the same as our Augmentin (amoxicillin & clavulanate).  But I couldn't find (on a cursory search) what the "Apo" stands for.

Sounds like you're handling it correctly.  Watch out for diarrhea. Not infrequently doctors will recommend taking Probiotics.  Not only does it help reduce the diarrhea, but it also helps reduce the risk of Clostridium difficile infections that can occur when you wipe out the guts good bacteria.

          • Glad Lynn is listening to you.  After a course of antibiotics, I take Acidophilus and Bifilous to prevent Republicosis.

    • Wise decision to use epsom salts with your soaks or warm compresses. Heal quickly, Lynn.

  4. There's an interesting article about Marco Rubio and his Billionaire Sugar Daddy – Norman Braman – in yesterday's "New York Times"

Clearly the Hypocritical Derp is strong with Marco Rubio – and all Rethuglicans:

Mr. Braman … has bankrolled Mr. Rubio’s campaigns. He has financed Mr. Rubio’s legislative agenda. And, at the same time, he has subsidized Mr. Rubio’s personal finances, as the rising politician and his wife grappled with heavy debt and big swings in their income.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/10/us/billionaire-lifts-marco-rubio-politically-and-personally.html

So it's perfectly fine for Rubio to accept monetary handouts from his Billionaire Benefactor – but if a struggling poor family avails itself of government assistance, then all it does is create "DEPENDENCY"?

    Note to Rethuglicans: YUCK FOU!

    • That was an interesting article in the NY Times.  Your assessment seems correct to me, it depends on who is getting the handout, the rich or the poor, for it to be dependency according to the Repubs.

    • "Pressed on his financial ties to Mr. Braman, Mr. Rubio said in an interview that he saw no ethical issue. “What is the conflict?” he asked. “I don’t ever recall Norman Braman ever asking for anything for himself.”"

Marco has  sugar daddy!  This just goes to show that Marco hasn't a clue about ethics!

"When Mr. Rubio announced his signature legislative goal, an initiative to slash property taxes and raise the sales tax, Mr. Braman contributed $255,000 to the advocacy group lobbying for the changes,…"

Typical Republicanus/Teabaggerum . . . sales taxes disproportionaly negatively affect the poor while property taxes affect the rich.  This little Cuban American surely seems to be trying to forget his roots.

      Great article Nameless!

  5. Glad you are feeling better.

Huffington Post:  I understand those polls.  Gays and Lesbians are not trying to pass bills that will force you to live their life style, but evangelicals want to do just that.

Daily Kos:  Why are we not surprised?  Their mother was right the first time, we don't need another Bush in the White House.

Alternet:  Tina Fey is the funniest woman alive right now, no one else could have pulled that off.  Too funny.

Cartoon:  Sad day for the world, and we have people in our country now who would gladly do the same thing.

  6. Weeelllll, I guess the repuglikkkanTs are still can’t get one of their holier-than-thou nutjobs in the White House!
Jebby is taking advice from W.? That’s rich!

  7. TY TC – sorry, more exhaustion and migraine…..

  8. Huff-Po ~ Not surprising at all.

Daily Kos ~ How long did he think he could publickly distance himself from W? We all knew he was another just like the other 2 Bushes.

Alternet ~ Tina Fey is priceless! I will miss David Letterman but look forward to seeing Stephen Colbert on TV again.

Cartoon ~ I am positive there are many books our own Nazis (Rethugs) would love to burn.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!

  10. Lynn: Get well soon and do what is necessary to get your health back to normal.

Huffington Post: The latest WSJ/NBC poll says what it says. However, I am inclined not to believe this poll nor any other poll that comes out down the pike. Polls can be "designed" for whatever the pollsters want it to say and to be done in favor of who is asking and what kinds of questions are asked and to what, whom they ask.

Daily Kos: One blubbering idiot asking his moronic brother, bushy, to be his "expert" foreign policy chief, his most influential counselor, foreign-policy confidant,  is asking way too much. The voting public should throw these two loser morons off the balcony and forget about them. Better yet, dump them both into the black hole of a Texass outhouse and leave them to rot.

Alternet: Tina Fey is an awesomely talented actress, in movies, TV shows and so-on. I was surprised when I first saw this video of her on the Letterman Show prior to TC's posting. Great sense of humor!

Cartoon: Reminds me of the GOP/TP/Koch Party way too much! The beginnings of the end.
