There a few things that the Republican base know, beyond the slightest shadow of a doubt.  One of them is that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton murdered four Americans in Benghazi.  The Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, have broadcast repeatedly that Obama officials ordered the military to stand down, to prevent them from saving the Americans from Obama’s Muslim terrorist allies.

0212BenghaziIn a new report released on Tuesday, the House Armed Services Committee concludes that there was no way for the U.S. military to have responded in time to the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya to save the four Americans killed that night. In doing so, the report debunks entirely a right-wing myth that says the White House ordered the military not to intervene.

For months after the attack that resulted in the death of U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens, conservative media was awash in reports that on the night of the assault the Obama administration at some point ordered the military not to take action that would have saved lives. This supposed “stand down order” led to a bevy of right-wing conspiracies [propaganda delinked] about why the President and his administration had let the Americans die.

“Who told the SEALs to stand down?” Rep. Steve King asked in Nov. 2012, in just one of many interviews with Republicans referring to the response to Benghazi as “worse than Watergate.

As Media Matters reports, Fox News cited reports of a stand-down order no fewer than 85 times during prime-time segments as of June 2013. As the new report — which the Republican majority of the committee authored –makes very clear in its findings, however, no such order ever existed. “There was no ‘stand down’ order issued to U.S. military personnel in Tripoli who sought to join the fight in Benghazi,” the report says, noting that the military was not positioned to respond to the attack.

Given the military’s preparations on September 11, 2012, majority members have not yet discerned any response alternatives that could have likely changed the outcome of the Benghazi attack,” the report concludes… [emphasis added]

There was just no way that even the Republicans, who quietly issued this report, could twist the evidence to conform with their conspiracy theories.  Nevertheless, they knew that the report would do little damage, because most Republican voters will never know it exists.  Why?  It will never be reported on Faux Noise, or anywhere else within the Republican media bubble.

  1. This report must have stuck in the throats of Adam Smith and Niki Tsongas. I think you're correct in stating that FAUX will sweep this report under the rug. They might let it run on the bottom of the screen as part of their streaming news but no one will come out and say anything about the report. They would choke if they had to admit they were wrong.

  2. I've heard that if you look in a mirror and say "Benghazi" three times, you hear the 63 embassy personnel and 241 Marines killed in 1983 in Beirut asking why there was no comparable outcry about them.  Of course it's just a superstition.

    • Amen!!!  Not a superstition but a reality in a politically charged Washington where the deaths of citizens are nothing but pawns in an ideological war!

  3. The truth never gets in the way of a good Reich-wing Conspiracy story! Lies…

  5. I didn't hear this reported on any mainstream media, either.  CNN, My husband's channel, is busy reporting snide stories about Hilary Clinton, just as they did in 2004. It appears to me that they are determined she will never have a chance to be President.

  6. With the release of the House Armed Services Committee's report on Benghazi, the silence on the Republicanus/Teabagger side of the Congress is absolutely deafening! . . . deafening!! . . . deafening!!!

  7. Thanks everymen, and AMEN to all comments,

  8. ~~But what Rep Chaffetz conveniently overlooked was that the Republican Congress failed to honor President Barack Obama’s request for additional security funds both this year and last year. According to a report in the Orlando Sentinel:

House Republicans cut the administration’s request for embassy security funding by $128 million in fiscal 2011 and $331 million in fiscal 2012. (Negotiations with the Democrat-controlled Senate restored about $88 million of the administration’s request.) Last year, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned that Republicans’ proposed cuts to her department would be “detrimental to America’s national security” — a charge Republicans rejected.
