My intent is to stay up until we have a President elect.  If this old body holds out, and if, God forbid, we don’t have a Florida 2000 rerun, I’ll be updating maps and data throughout the evening.  We’ll also get to see how accurate my projections were.  This will be pushing my limits, but I look forward to it.  Also, check out our new Cat Chat below.

President:

My projection:

4ElecFinPres

Obama: 303

Romney: 235

Current results:

6PresTrack1

Obama: 0

Romney: 0

Senate:

My Projection:

4ElecFinSen

Democrats: 53

Republicans: 45

Independents: 2

Current:

6SenTrack1

Democrats: 30

Republicans: 36

(There are 30 Democrats and 36 Republicans not up for election this year.)

House:

Democrats: 0

Republicans: 0

Updates:

Dixville Notch, NH has 5 sane voters and 5 idiots!

OBAMA HAS WON!

The site crashed and was offline all night.  I've been fighting with HSP tech support for over four hours and have been unable to do updates as planned.  I'm exhausted.  I will post updates tomorrow,

  1. As I can't vote am praying my socks off for the Democrats to win and for President Obama to be re-elected.  I watched a bit of CNN earlier (was it a 'local' or 'rest of world' version?  Seemed to have lots of Australians and British as well as American anchors.  There were many pictures of people queuing for many hours to vote (God bless them) – crumbs – the queues!!!

  2. CNN just said that  'the Secretary of State  said that 700 ballots in Florida had to be tossed out as they were not signed.'  As I was typing they said their was a NINE page ballot and no wonder the lines were so long!  Some people stood in line since 4 am – heroic!

  3. Ahhhhhhhhh…..Present and  think I am accounted for! Gonna try to hang for as long as I can Tom. Don't know if I ill make it all night! LOL.  I am shooting for 3 am CT.  Hope it is all decided by 1 am maybe…..but I doubt it.

  4. I know Obama has 3 votes in Marion Co., IL. My husband & my autistic son & me!:)

  5. Checking in.  I am hanging as long as it takes. I will worry about all the voter fraud and intimidation until this is finished and called. Obama/Biden 2012  Thanks TC

  6.  will be checking from about 5pm CST until it's called!!   GO BARACK–2 votes here!

  7. Not sure where to put this – hope this is OK – have just had an appeal from 'Elizabeth Warren for Senate' asking if I knew anyone from Massachusetts who hasn't voted yet – I don't, does anyone?  Every vote is vital as we know.  Thanks in advance.

  8. Uh, noooo, I don't think I do, Pat. I sent out everything I got in private email from all the Dem candidates onto Face Book, so, if I have a few FB friends that are in MA, then it got out there to them..

  9. Lines in NYC – that's a new one! Even Bloomberg complained about how inefficient and time consuming the new voting was! I registered with my new address, in my same bldg. complex, but it never set up, so I had to stand in line all over again for my old address, and there I was! UGH! People died for this "privilege", now they'll die because of it! I'm sure there are more disgusted voters, who wouldn't bother, since the choice is so dreadful! (I'm no fan of the O), but the consequences of the alternative is even worse! This has got to be the most miserable election I've ever lived through! I sure hope we get more parties that are legitimate alternatives instead of the pols that are bending over for the lobbyists – their rear ends must be dripping santorum!!!!!!

  10. Well went out voted for President Obama/Vice President Biden stood in line 2hrs and 5mins and my husband will not let me forget it.  After all he voted by mail in.  So people are getting out there to vote. On pins and needles.

some polls close in a few hrs woo hoo

  11. I can proudly say that I cast my vote for President Obama and Vice President Biden to serve 4 more years at 11:30 AM today.

I have never seen so many people at my polling place in the 15 years during which I have voted here. The ladies told me that it as busy all day long. There were no shenanigans here either.

  12. BTW, even though we had the best turnout ever, I only waited about 3 minutes. Remarkable!

I've got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed for the Good Guys.
    Obama/Biden 4 more years!

I'll be checking in sporadically. Don't know how long I can last tonight.

  13. sending good vibes to everyone.  I watched the this last night this is just a few mins of it
    video:http://youtu.be/bSLQSDFVK-8

  14. Took me all of fifteen minutes to vote – from parking the car – registering – voting – back in the car.

I only drove two folks to the polls today.  Four years ago I drove folks pretty much all day long.
BUT the difference was that this year I worked in the KCMO suburbs, whereas in 2008 I worked in the inner-city.
Now I'm just worried about what sounds like pretty extensive voter suppression in PA & FL.
Obama will NOT lose this election … but he might have it STOLEN from him.

  15. Have got a forward from Dandelion G about a rigged voting machine – I looked it up on the net and it is on here too
    tv.msnbc.com/2012/11/06/machine-turns-vote-for-obama-into-one-for-romney/
    Apparently NBC have verified this.

    • They showed it changing the vote on Current TV a little while ago.
Disgusting! No matter how many times the voter pressed Obama/Biden, it kept changing to Romney/Ryan. If the voter had not paid attention, the vote would have gone through like that. I don't know how many votes went through before it was caught. And, how many more machines are out there like that?

  16. I don't know how this "live chat" works so I'll just put my message here and hope!
I looked at Huffington Post and got the following:

    • I think I killed the Cat Chat … at least I was the last one to have an entry, and then it disappeared
      Sorry.

  17. the site has been down due to poor service from my hsp.  i'm barely in now.

  18. I’ve been watching on Huff Post — 268 Obama 203 Romney with popular vote of 48.1% Obama vs 50.6%.
Look at this story re predicting the winner. I thought it was amusing.

  19. We have a President, re-elected President Obama———we can rest tonight.  Thank God.

  20. Being a Deist, let me just say for myself, my neighbors, my friends, my family, my state, our nation and the world ….

THANK GOD! THANK GOD!! THANK GOD!!!

  21. Eee – haw!!!!!  Mr Obama, POTUS for a second term!

Mr Obama 303        Romney  203   totalling 506 EC votes and only 29 EC votes left which would be Florida that is still showing trending Obama at this hour according to Huffington Post!

Popular vote Mr Obama 49.6% Romney 48.9%

    Senate Democrat 56  (up three)  Republican/Teabagger 44 (down 3)

    House Democrats  169       Republican/Teabaggers 224   totalling     393  with a total to account 435

I have a question — So, the electoral college has 535 votes and a candidate needs 270 to win the college.  What would happen if neither candidate got 270 — 267 and 268?  Or, let's say that there was a third or fourth option and no one got 270?  What would happen?  To me, with the growth of the Green Party and the Justice party, this is a possible scenario and means in my mind that there would have to be a revision to the whole mechanics of elections.

    Anybody?

  22. PRAISE THE LORD!!!
I fell asleep about 5 hours ago at around 3am our time – have just checked – such good results, thank the Lord, AND Elizabeth Warren has won!
That's an interesting question of Lynn's – to which I do not know the answer…!
Well done TomCat – you got everything right!  Sorry the HSP crashed – just one of those things

  23. Ok, so Tammy Baldwin won; Elizabeth Warren won; Claire McCaskill won (which means Akin is gone!); Sherrod Brown won; but what happened to Paul Ryan?  Of course he didn't make it to VP (Thank God!) but did he win his other race for his seat in the House?  And I haven't heard about the other idiot whose name I can't remember — you know the 'God meant you to get pregnant when you were rapes' guy . . . M something?

  24. Couldn't find any details but Ryan 'easily won' his congressional seat according to the Huff Post.  That IS a pity – I wanted Ayn Rand's disciple to get his chips politically – but I didn't pray about it, I only prayed for positive things for the Democrats and for the President and for Eliz Warren….   Ah well.

    • Wisconsin results   Ryan ~ 199,715   Zerban ~ 157,721
      Indiana results~

      Donnelly, Joseph S. (Democratic)
      999840

      Horning, Andrew "Andy" (Libertarian)
      114743

      Mourdock, Richard E. (Republican)
      881863

      Willis, Amy J. (W/I(Independent))
      1

Johnson Junior, James L. (W/I (Workers Peace and Lo)
      0

Wow! I feel sorry for the last 2 on the list. Was James Johnson Jr. so bad that he didn't even vote for himself? And Amy was the only one who cast a ballot for herself?

  26. Here's what happened.  Apparently a bunch of folks got into Cat Chat and it overloaded the server, which in turn damaged the database, making PP virtually inaccessible for several hours.  Instead of live blogging, as I intended, I spent several hours alternately working with and fighting with HSP tech support.  There are still a few quirks, but hopefully we can solve them.  Needless to say, Cat Chat is history.  I'll look into externally hosted chat rooms.  I'm clad that you all seem to have had a good time live blogging without me. 🙂
