From Alternet: Coach Daubenmire: Christians are being bullied into not bullying gays

Dave Daubenmire, number 607 in the “Dictionary of American Loons” is an expert on bullying. His high school coaching career ran aground after he coerced students into praying in school. Now he has parlayed his fame into anti-gay rants and being a general loudmouth liar for Jesus. This week he went on a kind of circular rant about bullying, saying in a Youtube video: “The whole bullying idea is built around the homosexual agenda. It’s an effort to try to get people not to criticize or make fun of homosexuals.”

He does not agree with that. In fact, he thinks it is Christians who are being bullied because they’re not being allowed to express their hatred of homosexuals, or to bully them.

But he has some deeper thoughts about the whole bullying thing.

“I don’t like bullying,” he said. “But bullying is a part of life. If we want to make Americans tough again, we are raising some of the softest children in the world. My father’s generation would be ashamed of how sissified our kids have become.”

So, bullying can be a good thing. And following that logic, it could be good that Christians are being bullied into not bullying gay people, because it’ll toughen up those lily-livered Christians.

This is just one of ten jaw-dropping Republican absurdities from last week alone. Click through for the other nine.

From McClatchy DC: "To rehabilitate," according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, means "to restore to a former capacity."

But what if that capacity – be it walking or talking or brushing one’s teeth – was never there in the first place? In that case, you aren’t talking about "rehabilitation" but "habilitation."

People need habilitation when they have a congenital defect or disease that impairs the development of basic life skills. For example, autism may leave a child unable to speak. Cerebral palsy may result in language deficits and severe physical limitations. Birth defects may leave a child deaf.

Thanks to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), habilitation services will now be widely covered for the first time in private insurance plans…

In contrast, under RepubliCare, Republican Supply-side Jesus gives them better bodies when they have cashed-in the RepubliCare Death Benefit, because they could not pay.

From Right Wing Watch:

Bradlee Dean, who has entertained the notion that President Obama is secretly gay, thinks that the president is practicing “discrimination towards heterosexuals” and “advocates Shariah law.”

“[L]ook at who President Barrack Hussein Obama and this current administration have appointed to key positions in government–over 225 homosexuals,” Dean writes in a WorldNetDaily column [Propaganda delinked] published yesterday. “Talk about discrimination towards heterosexuals.”

Dean, who once praised radical Muslims who want to execute gay people, calling them “more moral than even American Christians”, chides “radical homosexual communities” for not questioning “the Muslims’ call for the execution of the homosexuals.”

Dean is very Republican, when it comes to Sharia. He was for it, before he was against it. This is Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian hypocrisy at work and has absolutely nothing in common with authentic Christianity.

Is this Pope for real???

Pope Francis describes ‘ideological Christians’ as a ‘serious illness’ within the Church

“And when a Christian becomes a disciple of the ideology, he has lost the faith: he is no longer a disciple of Jesus, he is a disciple of this attitude of thought… For this reason Jesus said to them: ‘You have taken away the key of knowledge.’ The knowledge of Jesus is transformed into an ideological and also moralistic knowledge, because these close the door with many requirements.”

I’m really starting to like this Pope!

From MSNBC: Fact Checker debunks Faux Noise

I covered this a free cays ago, and this should flesh that out. Faux Noise is still the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda. Chris makes an excellent point about how the sheeple on display are just parroting the garbage Faux Noise has fed them.

Note: MSNBC has changed their website, and the new system doe not provide me with a link to the actual video.  The best I can do is link to the show.

The Sunday Funnies

More than any other time of the week, the Sunday morning talk shows on most major networks seem to be particularly slanted to the right.  Here’s a case in which the host does not even pretend objectivity, but actually parrots Republican lies that have already been thoroughly debunked.

22DavidGregoryKarlRoveNo matter which of the Republican-dominated Sunday shows you opted to subject yourself to, there was a common refrain: no matter how seditiously the Republican Party acted, the problem was the lack of leadership on the part of President Obama.

Of course, on Meet the Press, where no Republican meme is too inane or self-serving to not parrot as conventional wisdom, that was a recurring variation on a theme, brought up over and over again.

While interviewing Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, the intellectually lazy David Gregory uses Ron Fournier’s article [Propaganda delinked] criticizing President Obama for the shutdown to ask if Obama needs to "absorb" his part of the governing by crisis, as if he’s doing this all on his own and it has nothing to do with Republican obstruction…

Here’s the included video:

Fortunately E.J. Dionne put David "Raps with Rove" Gregory in his place. And contrary to Gregory’s propaganda, Obama did exert leadership, but he did so behind the scenes. He’s the one that attached Leg Hound Harry Reid’s Obamaballs.

With the media so biased, if we want to see accurate information spread, it falls on us to do it.

From NY Times: The Environmental Protection Agency has stopped monitoring mercury contamination in the Everglades and testing water after the recent floods in Colorado.

An $8 billion space telescope, the largest in the world, waits to be tested at minus-400 degrees Fahrenheit in a closed government facility in suburban Maryland, facing the possibility of costly delays.

Many of the half a million federal workers whose paychecks on Friday showed half of what they normally earn fretted about how to juggle bills and put off major purchases.

These are just three of the many harmful effects of the Republican Shutdown, and three of the reasons that every Republican in office is one Republican too many. Click through for more.

Barf Bag Alert!!: Ed interviews a waste of skin, a Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian. Note how this jerk equates Vulture Capitalism with Christianity. What is it these Republicans value? They value death, hunger, suffering, deprivation and the rejection of everything the real Jesus valued. This clip was the inspiration for today's cartoon.

From Think Progress: Despite hundreds of thousands of wrongful foreclosures uncovered by investigators, Wall Street Journal editorial board member Mary Kissel claimed that “there hasn’t been a single homeowner who has been identified who was foreclosed on who shouldn’t have been foreclosed on” in a Friday appearance on Fox Business.

The reality of the situation is far different, with $1.4 trillion worth of mortgages being rendered legally unenforceable by the paperwork abuses that were so common during and after the subprime mortgage boom. Foreclosures based on shoddy or forged documents have become commonplace since the financial crisis. These aren’t faceless numbers, either, as reporters have indeed identified individual homeowners who were wronged.

Since Murdoch took over the WSJ, its character has changed so greatly that it needs to be renamed to Faux Print.

Vladimir Putin (R-RU)

Oct 122013

Not long ago, the military forces of Vladimir Putin, aka GOP Pootie, attacked a Greenpeace ship on the high seas, imprisoned its crew, and is holding them to face trumped up charges in a Russian court.  One would think that all Americans would be furious over such violation of human rights, but not so.  Putin loves guns and hates gays, so Republicans love their GOP Pootie so much, that they are even helping him promote his oppression of LGBT people.  Here’s some Republican praise for him.

gopVisionThe American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer began his radio program yesterday by reading a series of quotes from a mystery public figure, asking his listeners to guess “what country do you think this guy is the president of?”

The big surprise is that the quotes – encompassing such topics as European rejection of “Christian values that underlie Western civilization,” the pursuit of policies that “put large families and same-sex partnerships in the same category” and “excesses of political correctness” – are from Russian president Vladimir Putin, who has escalated his crackdown on LGBT people in recent months.

“Who is it?” Fischer asked. “Which president is the lion of Christianity, the defender of Christian values, the president that’s calling his nation back to embracing its identity as a nation founded on Christian values? Those, ladies and gentlemen, are quotes from Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia.”

The contrast between that president and our president could not possibly be more striking,” Fischer continued. “Just a bizarre day. To ever think we would get to the day that Russia would be more advanced spiritually than the United States. I mean, it’s just staggering to see what is happening to this country.”… [emphasis added]

Russia clearly demonstrated that Russia has a Republican Regime. They are not even sufficiently competent to keep the "eternal flame" burning.

Note that by addressing the Duma a private citizen lobbied a foreign government against US interests.  That is a violation of the Logan Act, and therefore a chargeable act of Sedition against the United States.

These Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians are not Christians.  Authentic Christians, who do not see Christianity as a vehicle to promote Republican hatred, should not be painted with the same brush, and I am not doing so.  In the same way, not all Republicans are hate mongers, but almost all hate mongers are Republicans, because the Party put out the welcome mat for them.

Needless to say, prominent Republican legislators are actively supporting this crime.

From The New Yorker: Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) raised the ante in the battle over the Affordable Care Act on Sunday, telling CNN’s Candy Crowley that “destroying the entire planet is really the best and only way to stop Obamacare.”

“Look, I’m in favor of shutting down the government and not raising the debt ceiling, but let’s not kid ourselves. Those are only half measures,” he told Crowley. “If we are really serious about stopping Obamacare, we’ll destroy the entire planet.”

Explaining his proposal to a visibly alarmed Crowley, Senator Cruz said, “Obamacare is like a parasite that needs a host to feed on. If you want to kill the parasite you kill the host, and in this case that means killing this planet. As long as there’s a planet Earth, the nightmare of Obamacare could always come screaming back to life.”

While he was not specific about how he would go about destroying the planet, Cruz said, “This is something that my colleagues and I have been working on for some time.”

In the event of a Debt Default, Andy may be prophetic.

From Alternet: Pat Robertson to elderly woman viewer: It’s your fault your husband’s health his suffering.

Always willing to comfort his flock, Pat Robertson used his “700 Club” pulpit recently to set a woman straight about priorities. Retired and living on a small pension and Social Security pension, the woman was faced with the difficult decision of whether to give money to her church or pay her husband’s medical expenses.

This whole situation is all her fault, Robertson told her. Her husband is sick precisely because her contribution to the church has been inadequate, despite a lifetime of tithing.

“Your husband has all these medical problems because the ‘devour’ has not been rebuked,” Robertson explained. “You need to rebuke him. You give your tithes faithfully and God said, ‘I will rebuke the devour,’ the person that is eating up your money and eating up your health. So you want to be healthy? That’s a promise in the word.”

This just one of ten appalling statements from the Republican madhouse in the last week alone. Click through for the other nine. As for Republican Supply-side pseudo Christian, Pat Robertson, someone needs to upset his tables and drive him from the temple with a whip of cords.

From Daily Kos: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the bedrock of traditional Republicanism, now says that it will get involved in Republican primaries by providing financial support to incumbent Republicans who vote to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling. In other words, if some Republicans act responsibly and then have to face tea party challengers accusing them of being RINOs, the Chamber will have the back of those reasonable Republicans. It’s a civil war within the GOP, folks.

That’s how far off the deep end the tea party and right-wing House Republicans have gone. They’ve lost the Chamber of Commerce.

This Republican sedition even hurts most of the business community. Whether this will matter, I know not, but for the Republican’s own sake, this is the best that could happen. With promised backing from the chamber, those Republicans, who said they will support a clean CR, will have no excuse for failing to sign the discharge petition.

Hillary? Gay?!!?

Posted by at 12:48 am  Politics, Religion

It is my hope that the Democratic Party will chose someone more progressive than Hillary Clinton, but Republicans don’t seem to like her either.  In fact, the latest meme to condemn her from Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians is that Hillary intends to be our first Lesbian President.

21HillaryHumaWhile American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer is confident that Americans would never elect Hillary Clinton as president because she is simply “too old” and “too saggy,” he now says that if Clinton should win, then she might be the “first lesbian president.”

Fischer pointed to an interview between Gennifer Flowers and the UK-based Daily Mail in which she claims that Bill Clinton told her that Hillary is bisexual, and therefore it isn’t out of the question that she may be having an affair with aide Huma Abedin.

Since Fischer accepts pure speculation from whatever source as indisputable fact so long as it fits his agenda, it is no surprise that he now claims that “the bottom line is that if Hillary Clinton becomes president in 2016 she will not only be our first female president she could be our first lesbian president.”… [emphasis added]

Now, lets assume, just for the sake of of argument, that Hillary is bisexual.  So what?!!?  Also, lets assume, just for the sake of argument that Hillary is having an affair with Huma.  If so, I’m green with envy!  May I trade places with Hillary?

From MSNBC: Ed Shultz talks about un-brainwashing Faux Noise viewers.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

In short, there is more than one kind of viewer of the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise. Regular folks, who watch it, because they don’t know any better can be helped. But neither flavor of core viewer can be helped. The core viewers that say "Kill!", are getting exactly what they want, so they will not accept help. The core viewers that say "Ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a", are just too stuck on stupid!

From Right Wing Watch: Two weeks ago, the Christian Broadcasting Network tried to cover up remarks made by Pat Robertson, the founder of CBN and host of its flagship show the 700 Club, about how he believes gay men wear special rings that cut the hands of people they meet in order to infect them with HIV/AIDS.

CBN not only had the video we posted of Robertson’s comments removed from YouTube by complaining that it violated copyright laws, but also edited the comments out of its own broadcast of the show.

We reposted our video elsewhere, but CBN also had it removed from websites such as Vimeo and Dailymotion.

We filed a counterclaim with YouTube asserting that our video was protected by Fair Use and yesterday we finally received word that our video had been restored…

Kudos, to RWW! As for Robertson, I trust that, in the end, “Blood Diamond Pat” will hear, "I never knew you!"

From Politico: Senate Democrats have had all they can take from David Vitter and his fixation on Obamacare — and they’re dredging up his past prostitution scandal to hit back.

Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, has infuriated Democrats this week by commandeering the Senate floor, demanding a vote on his amendment repealing federal contributions to help pay for lawmakers’ health care coverage.

But Democratic senators are preparing a legislative response targeting a sordid Vitter episode. If Vitter continues to insist on a vote on his proposal, Democrats could counter with one of their own: Lawmakers will be denied those government contributions if there is “probable cause” they solicited prostitutes…

LOL!! I love it!! Vitter has demanded that the Senate Ethics Committee investigate Harry Reid over this. Now, I’m no fan of the Nevada Leg Hound, but the very notion of Diaper Dave demanding an ethics review epitomizes GOP Hypocrisy!
