Will have to take a “Leave of Absence” this week. I’m going to be tied up today getting new gutters …
No – not THAT type of gutter …
Well, that’s closer …
There you go.
In February, 2016 one of the most extreme Fascists on SCROTUS (Republican Constitutional VD), Antonin Scalia, joined his demonic master in the nether regions, where he continues to sizzle. Barrack Obama nominated Merrick Garland, a centrist, and a truly bipartisan, compromise candidate. But the Republican Party insisted on a Nazi. Bought Bitch Mitch coined the McConnell Rule and stated that no Supreme Court confirmation could take place during an election year, because the people deserved a say. Garland was denied a hearing, and in 2017, Trump stole Obama’s appointment and put a goose-stepper on the court, Injustice Neil Whoresuch. Now Anthony Kennedy is retiring, and it’s an election year.
For many Democrats, Supreme Court turnabout would be fair play.
Reaction to Justice Anthony Kennedy’s surprise announcement that he will retire from the Supreme Court on July 31 was swift for many Democrats, some of whom said the Senate should follow the standard set by Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and deny a vote to President Trump’s next nominee to the high court.
In 2016, citing the upcoming election, McConnell blocked President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland. Now, with Trump and his fellow Republicans poised to cement conservative control of the high court, Democrats hope to turn the tables on the GOP.
“Our Republican colleagues in the Senate should follow the rule they set in 2016,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a speech on the Senate floor. “Senator McConnell would tell anyone who listened that the Senate had the right to advise and consent — and that was every bit as important as the president’s right to nominate.”
Schumer also said the Senate should reject any Supreme Court pick who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that affirmed a woman’s right to have an abortion… [emphasis added]

Here is what Bought Bitch Mitch has to say about it.
Barf Bag Alert!!
UGH! That leaves me feeling like I’ve been buried in bullshit!
As usual, Rachel Maddow’s take on the subject is lengthily (25 min.), as she outlines the Democrat’s position, and explains how it may be possible to defeat Trump’s evil nominee.
One horrid possibility is that Bought Bitch Mitch will put off the vote as long as possible in order to push pseudo-Christians, who might have stayed home, to the polls to overturn Roe v. Wade.
I’m feeling very tired. WWWendy was picking up her son at the airport in Seattle. His flight from Spain was late, so she pulled in here over 90 minutes late. We had extra work in preparation for her vacation, and I had bought beef ribs as a going away present, so I got to bed way late. Then I had to miss my morning rest to get the grocery order from Store to Door. My fingers are fighting me to find the right keys.

From USA Today: North Korea is upgrading a major nuclear research facility despite President Donald Trump’s claim that leader Kim Jong Un has vowed to disarm, according to new satellite images and a research paper published by a North Korea monitoring group.
Experts at 38 North, a website affiliated with the Stimson Center in Washington D.C. devoted to analysis of North Korea, concluded the images show that "improvements to the infrastructure at North Korea’s Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center are continuing at a rapid pace."
The satellite images are from June 21.
That’s OK with the Fuhrer, as long as KIM keeps stroking his ego. Republicans are treating friends like enemies, and enemies like friends. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
From NY Times: President Trump plans to meet President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia next month in a one-on-one summit meeting, a politically sensitive encounter that could exacerbate strains with NATO allies even if it eases tensions between the United States and Russia.
It would be the first formal summit meeting specifically for Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin, who have met twice at annual gatherings of world leaders. And it comes at a particularly delicate moment, with midterm elections looming in the United States and the special counsel’s investigation of Mr. Trump’s ties to Russia grinding on.
Putin needs to give Trump his orders, possibly including whom to nominate for SCROTUS (Republican Constitutional VD). RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
Cartoon:

Today it became apparent that, the Supreme Court of the Republican Reich is more inclined to ignore the law, ignore stare decisis, and goose-step behind Fuhrer Donald Trump. In giving Trump his Muslim Ban, they just did exactly that, but at least, may dissent against Republican Injustices’ decisions. Sonia Sotomayor tore SCROTUS (Republican Constitutional VD) a new sphincter.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., reading for the majority on Tuesday morning, spoke clinically. Justice Stephen G. Breyer followed, working his way through his dissent mildly and analytically.
Then it was Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s turn.
Steely and unwavering, she began: “The United States of America is a nation built upon the promise of religious liberty. Our founders honored that core promise by embedding the principle of religious neutrality in the First Amendment.”
The crowded courthouse fell silent.
In upholding President Trump’s ban on travel from several predominantly Muslim countries, Justice Sotomayor continued, the Supreme Court had failed to “safeguard that fundamental principle.”
For the next 20 minutes, she remained resolute as she delivered an extraordinarily scorching dissent, skewering the court’s decision and condemning the ban as “harrowing” and “motivated by hostility and animus toward the Muslim faith.”… [emphasis added]

Rachel Maddow spent 25 minutes explaining the background and the import of what she had to say. Please take the time to watch. You’ll thank yourself.
This has to be one of the most unjust decisions in US History. Sadly, it will not be the last.
It’s temperate outside, but the sun hit the wall early, so I’m buttoned up with the AC for the day. Store to Door did not deliver the last 1/3 of my grocery order. They are bringing it tomorrow, but it screwed up my day. It’s my last evening with WWWendy, before her Texas vacation. I’m feeding her ribs. I’m in a rush.

From The New Yorker: Shortly after the United States Supreme Court upheld Donald J. Trump’s controversial travel ban, millions of people from other countries expressed puzzlement that anyone would want to travel to the United States at this juncture.
In interviews with people from around the world, respondents said that the travel ban struck them as unnecessary, because the United States was not currently on the list of the top hundred countries to which they would consider travelling.
When asked to name the reasons they felt that a travel ban was superfluous, many of those interviewed cited the United States’s gun violence and crumbling infrastructure, as well as its broken educational and health-care systems, while others singled out its President’s startling disrespect for democratic norms and human rights.

Now Kennedy is resigning! Gloom!

Here is the one hundred twenty-fourth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honoree is Republican End Times Broadcaster and Conspiracy Theorist Rick Wiles. He is so honored for the Republican way he projects Republican love of violence onto Democrats.
End Times broadcaster Rick Wiles used his “TruNews” program on Friday [pseudo-Christian delinked] to warn his viewers that liberals may begin to assassinate Republican candidates before the 2018 midterm elections in preparation for civil war.
“When they get rid of Donald Trump, they are going to crush the people who voted for him,” Wiles said. “Your country is being taken away from you.”
“This is a revolution,” he added. “It is a communist/Marxist/socialist/leftist revolution and it has the potential to turn bloody. I would say that we need to be prepared for this fall. Be prepared. I pray to God that the leftists/Marxists/socialists/communists do not assassinate Republican candidates for the House and Senate and governor and other positions. But be prepared that as we go in to October, that they will carry out targeted killings of Republicans.”
“If that happens, then you know that a violent revolution has now begun,” he warned, adding that if Democrats win control of Congress in the midterms, “this country is going to be ripped to pieces.”… [emphasis added]

What makes the lies especially foul is the projection. Republicans are the ones that have called for violence and have practiced violence. That’s why this Republican deserves a Parade.
Today’s high is only high 70°s, but the sun hit the wall early, so I had to button up the CatBox and fire-up the AC. WWWendy will be visiting San Antonio this weekend, only about 100 miles from Pat B.

From Alternet: Ahead of a closely watched New York primary on Tuesday, progressive gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon and congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezendorsed each other on Monday, and announced they are coming together at a Get Out the Vote event in Queens to “speak of their shared progressive, people-powered campaigns taking on centrist, corporate Democrats.”
As the New York primary on Tuesday only applies to federal races, Nixon—like everyone else running for state or local offices—will have until September 13 to continue campaigning. However, voters in the state’s 14th District will head to ballot boxes in less than 24 hours to choose between Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley, who hasn’t faced a primary challenger in 14 years.
I certainly support Ocasio-Cortez, with the caveat that, if she loses the primary, even corporate Democrat Joe Crowley is infinitely better than a Republican. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
From NY Times: In more than 20 of the most competitive House races of 2018, the share of Democrats voting in primaries notably increased, compared with 2014, the last midterm election cycle…
…Democrats have appeared to be more enthusiastic than Republicans about the 2018 elections, showing up in massive numbers to protest President Trump and volunteer for campaigns.
But to win the midterms, Democrats still have to translate that energy into votes. The still-unfolding season of primary elections has been encouraging to Democrats on that front.
Democratic turnout has risen more sharply than Republican turnout in at least 123 congressional districts, including districts where Republican incumbents are most vulnerable, in states like California and New Jersey.
This kind of activism is far more productive than self-defeating talk of a wave. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From NY Times: 2. Driver’s license offices are closed in black areas.
The year after the photo identification law took effect, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced that it would close 31 driver’s license offices, one of the primary places where Alabamians could obtain photo identification. The closings were in response to budget cuts, but there was a clear racial pattern.

From Washington Post: Rep. John Carter (R-Tex.) hasn’t won a race by fewer than 20 points in a decade. Veteran MJ Hegar (D) is trying to change that, and she made a big splash over the last few days with an ad that includes a subtle but brutal jab at Carter.
Hegar served three tours in Afghanistan and later successfully lobbied the Obama administration to lift the ban on women serving in combat.
In a new ad “Doors” — which you can watch above [below] — Hegar shows viewers how she opened “doors” throughout her career, facing many that slammed in her face. Behind one closed door was Carter, who she says in the ad she tried to lobby to lift the combat ban.
