Yesterday I caught up replying to comments and returned all outstanding visits.  Then the inside temperature shot up to over 90°.  I could not get to sleep last night and have had less than a couple hours, so I’m not sure how I’ll do today.  The Constitution series will continue tomorrow.  I just worked on it for well over an hour and accidently deleted the article on the First Amendment without having saved it.  I’m just too tired to do it again right now.

From Think Progress: But today on Fox News Sunday, Kyl threw his concerns about the deficit out the window when discussing tax cuts. Kyl said Congress should not allow the Bush tax cuts to expire, but when host Chris Wallace asked, “How are you going to pay the $678 billion to keep Bush tax cuts for the wealthy?” Kyl wouldn’t answer. And in fact, he went so far as to say tax cuts should never have to be paid for.

This is GOP typical.  They are deficit hawks when it comes to benefitting common people like $30 billion to expend unemployment benefits, but spending $678 billion on the rich is OK.  What hypocrites!

For the last two days I’ve been wilted, but last night the exhaustion overcame the heat long enough for me to sleep a couple hours, even though this apartment is still 97°  Thursday I kept up with comments and returned visits.  Yesterday I did neither.  Today I hope to at least catch up replying to comments.

From TPM: There are no shortage of conservatives in Louisiana who’d like to retire David Vitter. But late this afternoon, one prominent Republican decided to make a go of it, entering the race at the last possible moment to take on the scandal-plagued senator in the GOP primary this August.

Maybe Diaper Dave will have to pay for hookers of his own to powder his butt now.

From Common Dreams: Scores of people were arrested in Oakland, California Thursday night in protests over the verdict in the Oscar Grant shooting. Grant was the unarmed 22-year-old African-American man who was shot dead by Johannes Mehserle, a white transit officer, on an Oakland train platform on New Year’s Day, 2009. A jury in Los Angeles convicted Merserle of involuntary manslaughter but he was acquitted on the more serious charges of second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

If Grant had been white, it would have been Murder.  I saw the videos.

Stay cool!

Yesterday was a scorcher.  Today will be hotter.  In had not seen the guys in the therapy group I co-facilitate in three weeks, due to the group’s move to a new therapy business.  It was great to see them again.  I knew the new therapist before, but this is the first time I’ve seen him in a group setting.  I was most impressed and feel confident that this is an excellent venue for me to help others learn to stay free as productive members the community.  I did not even reply to comments due to the intense heat.  Today is up in the air.  I feel quite wilted.  As I write this at 2:40 AM, it’s 68° outside, but it’s 89° in the breezeway, my only source of fresh air, and 96° in my apartment.

From NY Times: Just days after the F.B.I.’s sensational dismantling of a Russian spy ring, the American and Russian authorities on Wednesday were negotiating an exchange of some or all of the 10 accused agents for prisoners held in Russia, including a scientist convicted of spying for the United States.

I commented on Tim’s Blog a few days ago that we’d be trading their spies for our spies.

From TPM: Facing reporters for the first time in weeks on Wednesday, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) denied a key element in the controversy surrounding a former legislative aide who remained on Vitter’s staff after pleading guilty to attacking his girlfriend with a knife in 2008. But records reviewed by TPM show clearly that Vitter’s claim is false.

The fool lied that his aide was not in charge of women’s issues.  Diaper Dave should know that dozens of sites carry his own published contacts list.

From Common Dreams: Israel’s Army Radio reported on Wednesday that the United States has sent Israel a secret document committing to nuclear cooperation between the two countries.

According to Army Radio, the U.S. has reportedly pledged to sell Israel materials used to produce electricity, as well as nuclear technology and other supplies, despite the fact that Israel is not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Because the NPT was ratified in the Senate, it of part of US law.  The Constitution requires that we observe its terms.  The treaty forbids nuclear assistance to any nation hat has not signed or is not in compliance with it.

Are toy surviving the heat better than I?

Yesterday I kept up to date and got lazy.  I should at least stay up to date today as the worst heat wave of the summer, to date, moves in.  It was a slow say for news.

From TPM: Sharron Angle has resorted to an unusual maneuver to counter Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s attacks on her past quotes and positions, the Reid campaign has announced: A cease-and-desist letter, demanding that Reid no longer republish Angle’s previous campaign website.

The short version of the story is as follows: After the former state Rep won Nevada’s Republican Senate primary, Angle’s campaign took down most of its website, and later replaced it with a relaunched version that in some ways toned down her right-wing rhetoric.

What a dirty thing Reid is doing.  How could anyone be so heartless as to repeat Angle’s own opinions! 😉

Lots of Arizona politicians were upset by President Obama’s speech on immigration last week, but apparently none more so than Crazy Sheriff Joe Aroaio:

Arpaio: “Right now, because of that speech, we’re going to get more and more people crossing that border. They want to get here quick so they become U.S. citizens if we have amnesty. So stay tuned for more people coming in because of the president speaking out.”

And I imagine the GOP profiling mavens passed the “papers please” bill in anticipation of Obama’s speech, right?
