Short Takes:
From USA Today: Now that retired U.S. District judge Vaughn Walker has revealed he is in a committed relationship with a man, do grounds exist to cancel his ruling that California’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional?
Only if men with women, women with men, women with women and Teabaggers with sheep are also barred from ruling on it.
From Washington Post: Starting this week, the talk in our nation’s capital will be dominated by whether Congress should raise the debt ceiling — as if we have any choice but to pay off our obligations. It will be a colossally foolish and self-destructive battle, another sign of how fanaticism and ideological obsession are rendering our country ungovernable.
The fanaticism and ideological obsession are exclusively in the Republican demesne. After all, they are the only ones holding the nation’s credit worthiness hostage.
