Katie, WWWendy’s niece is a very nice gal, and she will do a fine job, but truth be told, I will miss Wendy during that week.  It’s the last two days of relatively temperate weather, until a ten+ day heat wave hits.  I am dreading it.  Happy Flag Day!  Republicans desecrate the flag by wrapping themselves in it.

I’m running a bit behind today, because Store to Door delivered my groceries late, and I needed to unpack and put them away.  WWWendy is bringing her niece for training this evening, since her niece will be filling-in when Wendy is away the first week in July.  It’s been a busy day, and I’m tired.

Of course she’s right. The problem is, Trump envies Kim. He wants to exercise dictatorial power like Kim’s. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Daily Kos: As much as New York is a reliable blue state during presidential and senatorial elections, it is far from being a progressive utopia. Just look at congressional district 14, which is represented by one of the most powerful Democrats in Congress, with little to show for it.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s primary campaign against Joe Crowley had earned a little bit of coverage, but her press team couldn’t find any news outlet willing to premiere her new campaign ad. “They were like, ‘no, no, no,’ so I was like, alright, I’m just going to put it on Twitter,” the 28-year-old political organizer tells Progressives Everywhere. “Thankfully it turned out really well.”

From YouTube (Washington Post Channel): How did the 1994 deal with North Korea fall apart?

The point is this. Every time North Korea has received denuclearization benefits, they have cheated. Only one thing would be more stupid than trusting Kim: Trusting Trump. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: One day before his summit with Donald J. Trump, the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un, has offered to host peace talks between the United States and Canada.

Speaking to reporters at his hotel in Singapore, Kim said that the rising tensions between the North American neighbors were posing an “intolerable threat to world peace.”

In addition to offering to host U.S.-Canada talks in Pyongyang, Kim urged the immediate creation of a demilitarized zone along the border separating the two hostile nations.

“In exchange for Canadian Mounties agreeing to stand down on their side of the border, the United States, in turn, would dismantle its nuclear weapons,” Kim said.

Dang, Andy! Is that why Trump grabbed his ankles in Singapore? RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From NY Times: Larry Kudlow, President Trump’s top economic adviser, suffered a heart attack on Monday evening and was at Walter Reed Medical Center, Mr. Trump said in a tweet [sphincter delinked].

Mr. Kudlow, 70, who has referred to himself as a “happy warrior” in counseling Mr. Trump on trade and economic policy, joined Mr. Trump’s team in March as the director of the National Economic Council.

“Our Great Larry Kudlow, who has been working so hard on trade and the economy, has just suffered a heart attack. He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center,” Mr. Trump tweeted, just before a meeting in Singapore with North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un.

Considering that Kudlow announced that Trudeau belongs in hell, this is karma. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Politico: First lady Melania Trump attended the Ford’s Theatre annual gala on Sunday evening, paying tribute to President Abraham Lincoln’s legacy. It was one of her first public appearances since surgery last month.

"Tonight reminds all of us about the power the arts have in cultivating the American voice," the first lady, who served as the honorary chairman, said in a statement. "Thank you to Ford’s Theatre Society for tonight, and your continued dedication to education and leadership in the arts — the impact they have on society is invaluable and something we will continue to cherish throughout time.”

I can’t help but wonder, if the significance of Ford’s Theatre is wishful thinking on her part. If so, who could blame her. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Huffington Post: A future without net neutrality is here. Well, almost.

The Federal Communications Commission will take away the rights of internet users on Monday. Officially, the repeal of the 2015 net neutrality protections ― a repeal that FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, a Trump pick, had pushed for ― will take effect.

That means that internet providers like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon will be able to block, throttle and otherwise interfere with online content without any real legal consequences.

Pai, a former Verizon lawyer, bucked the law, ignored public opinion and twisted the facts to make his ill-advised case for handing control of the internet to the anti-competitive cabal of giant phone and cable companies that control broadband access in the United States. In a moment of Orwellian arrogance, Pai said he did it to “restore internet freedom.”

The reality is quite the opposite: Pai is attempting to usher in an online regime that would resemble the internet in China. In that country, a powerful alliance between the central government and national telecom companies has created a digital dystopia, where websites and online services that fall out of favor load so slowly as to render them unusable. Others appear in a flash, thanks to cozy ties to the powers that be….

…You can be sure that Pai and his cronies in the phone and cable lobby will declare victory on Monday, but the expiration of the 2015 rules will be only a temporary hiccup. The fight is far from over in Congress, in the courts and across the country.

We must all refuse to give up the fight for Net Neutrality and inform others to do the same. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Daily Kos: …we can be extraordinarily confident that no substantive progress will be made towards the theoretical Actual Damn Point of the Trump-Kim summit, the suspension of North Korea’s nuclear ambitions in exchange for, presumably, an easing of the international sanctions against them. This is because nobody on Trump’s staff has any concept of how to draft such a deal, what the specifics ought to be, and most importantly what measures are sufficient or insufficient for ensuring long-term verification of that deal. Trump nixed the disarmament treaty with Iran because he listened to longtime conservative hawks who simply wanted it gone, regardless of expert conclusions that the deal was working; he cannot hope to draft one on his own, at least one not written in the diplomatic equivalent of crayon, for the same reasons. And this, even without hardline neanderthals like John Bolton looking to sabotage the talks at every opportunity.

This is not to say the Donald Trump team will not be eager to broadcast some supposed “deal” in order to make our nation’s most successful traitor momentarily look good. Trump is under enormous pressure, at the moment, to accomplish even the most minor of diplomatic tasks without falling over his own feet. But don’t be surprised if didn’t fall over his own feet is treated, by his team, as a herculean accomplishment unmatched by any modern president, real or fictional, since Bill Pullman fended off interstellar invasion in his fighty-shooty jet.

The actual disarmament part? That would require an expertise nobody in this White House has—or can even put up with.

You can also be sure that Trump will demand a Nobel Peace prize, if he and Kim just share the golden glow of the same Russian hooker.  RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Politico: Days before President Donald Trump embarked on a North Korea summit meant to solve one nuclear crisis, Iran hinted at another.

The Islamic Republic announced last week that it has expanded its ability to enrich uranium, a key ingredient for nuclear weapons. The move came just weeks after Trump abruptly quit the Barack Obama-era deal that largely dismantled Iran’s nuclear program, and it could be a first step toward an eventual Iranian dash to a nuclear bomb.

Iran probably didn’t time its move to throw a stink bomb into Tuesday’s summit in Singapore between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, experts say. But the news served as a vivid reminder of how the troubled Iran nuclear deal will haunt Trump’s talks with Kim.

The North Koreans are certainly watching.

“In my informal conversations with North Korean officials they have consistently brought up the Iran deal,” said Suzanne DiMaggio of New America, who, like many North Korea analysts, occasionally engages in unofficial discussions with the country’s representatives.

I said it at the time. When Trump violated the Iran deal, he showed Kim he won’t keep a deal with North Korea either.  RESIST!!  VOTE BLUE!!

From Think Progress: \Kris Kobach’s effort to upend the way Americans vote has suffered another setback.

The Kansas Secretary of State has been hard at work trying to expand upon his fatally flawed Crosscheck program, which he cooked up following the 2016 election, after President Trump made totally baseless claims of voter fraud as the reason he lost the popular vote.

Kobach has used Trump’s bogus claim as a rationale to bring voter suppression to the whole country, has been marred with security breaches, risky data management, and embarrassment. But Indiana isn’t joining in — at least, not for now.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt blocked Indiana from trying to enforce a law passed in 2017 that would have allowed state election officials to kick people off the voter rolls if they were flagged by the Interstate Crosscheck Program.

A small win for the good guys and gals! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Huffington Post: Maine will be the first place to use the system, called ranked-choice voting, in statewide races this June (it’s already used in some local elections). The system kicks in for contests that have three or more candidates. Here’s how it works:

  • Voters rank the candidates in their party’s primary in order of preference.
  • If no candidate gets an outright majority, the candidate who got the fewest first-place votes is eliminated.
  • The second-place votes of those who supported the eliminated candidate then get distributed to the remaining candidates.
  • The process continues until one candidate gets more than 50 percent of the first-place votes and is declared the winner.

The same system could easily be applied to national elections allowing supporters of outliers an opportunity to vote their conscience without screwing the rest of us.  RESIST!!  VOTE BLUE!!

From NY Times: After failing to repeal the Affordable Care Act with a Republican-controlled Congress, the Trump administration is seizing on a different strategy for dismantling the law, one fraught with political risk. It is asking a court to throw out major elements, including hugely popular provisions that protect sick people from being denied health insurance or charged higher rates.

Democrats swiftly portrayed the surprise move by the Justice Department, outlined Thursday in a brief supporting a court case filed by Texas and 19 other states, as a harsh blow to Americans with fragile health and their families. Already, Democratic candidates in the midterm elections had been playing up their party’s role in blocking last year’s repeal efforts and their recent success in pushing for the expansion of Medicaid in two more states. Now they have a new talking point, and they lost no time testing it.

Republicans are divided between conservatives who had vowed to eliminate the law and moderates, some in tough races, who want to preserve the popular protections for people who are sick.

The only Republicans who appear to be supporting their constituents are lying.  They just fear of losing their jobs. Republicans want people with pre-existing conditions to get the RepubliCare Death Benefit. Can’t pay? Die! RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
