The heat wave is over, and it’s 60°, but the humidity is 97%, so it’s still sticky.  I slept poorly last night, due to humidity and AC noise, but I did catch a two hour nap this morning.

From The New Yorker: Moments after House Republicans voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act on Thursday, millions of Trump supporters celebrated the imminent loss of their health insurance.

From coast to coast, Americans who cast their votes for Donald J. Trump expressed jubilation at finally being relieved of the burden of being insured in the event of catastrophic illness.

“Ever since President Trump was inaugurated, I’ve been counting the days for him to take away my health insurance,” Carol Foyler, a Trump supporter in Houston, said. “Today I just want to say thank you, Mr. President, for keeping your promise.”

Andy, reporting the intellectual level of deplorables is not even news.  After all, they voted for him.  RESIST!!

Sometimes called TrumpCare, RepubliCare is infamous for the RepubliCare Death Benefit. If you can pay, you get care.  If you can’t pay, you get to die.  In that respect RepubliCare remains unchanged from Alan Grayson’s classic "Die Quickly".  The latest iteration passed the House this morning.

RepubliCareAfter years of promises and months of delays, House Republicans passed their version of an Obamacare repeal and replacement Thursday, muscling the far-right legislation through their chamber by feverishly pressuring moderates in the closing days.

Republicans passed the bill 217-213, with 20 Republicans voting “no” and not a single Democrat voting in support.

But what seems like a victory for House Republicans may ultimately be their downfall.

Democrats were of two minds about Republicans advancing the bill, which would gut some of Obamacare’s most popular provisions (including protections for people with pre-existing conditions as well as the Medicaid expansion).

On one hand, Democrats desperately wanted to protect President Barack Obama’s signature law. On the other hand, Democrats believe ― perhaps correctly ― that this extremely conservative bill can’t pass the Senate, and that House Republicans may have just hung a profoundly unpopular legislation around the necks of some of their most vulnerable members.

As Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told Republicans during her floor speech before the vote, Democrats plan to tattoo every provision of this bill to the foreheads of Republicans. “You will glow in the dark,” Pelosi said… [emphasis added]

From <Huffington Post>

Lawrence O’Donnell covered some of the key features of this hateful horror.

Under no circumstances may Paul Ryan’s death panels be allowed to pass the Senate.

It’s so sticky here in Portland that I’m about to melt.  Fortunately tomorrow will be 20° cooler.  JD sent me some lovely earrings featuring the Democratic Party donkey.  I’d wear one myself, but I don’t have pierced ears.  Wendy loves her pair, and asked me to say thanks.  And finally, I got to kiss her ass.  Wooo Hooo!!  Thanks JD!!

Keith could not be more spot-on. With very few rare exceptions (Rachel, Chris, Lawrence) the US media had failed in their obligation to be the fourth estate. Nail Trump and his entire Reich, world media! RESIST!!

From Atlanta Journal Constitution: A federal judge on Thursday ordered Georgia to temporarily reopen voter registration ahead of a hotly contested congressional runoff in the 6th District.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Batten made the ruling as part of a broader lawsuit by a Washington-based advocacy group, which last month accused Georgia of violating federal law by reducing the amount of time residents have to register to vote.

Voter registration shut down March 20 ahead of the deciding runoff June 20 for the 6th District election, which is being held in the northern suburbs of metro Atlanta.

Batten, however, ordered registration immediately re-opened until May 21.

The Reich can’t win unless they control who votes. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: CNN is now reporting her warning was much more emphatic.

Washington (CNN)Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates is prepared to testify before a Senate panel next week that she gave a forceful warning to the White House regarding then-National Security Advisor Michael Flynn nearly three weeks before he was fired, contradicting the administration’s version of events, sources familiar with her account tell CNN.

In a private meeting January 26, Yates told White House Counsel Don McGahn that Flynn was lying when he denied in public and private that he had discussed US sanctions on Russia in conversations with Russian Ambassador to the US Sergei Kislyak. Flynn’s misleading comments, Yates said, made him potentially vulnerable to being compromised by Russia, according to sources familiar with her version of events. She expressed "serious concerns" to McGahn, making it clear — without making a recommendation — that Flynn could be fired. …

On February 14, the day after Flynn’s firing, White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters that Yates had simply "wanted to give a ‘heads up’ to us on some comments that may have seemed in conflict with what he (Flynn) had sent the Vice President."

Why did it take the White House 17 days to fire Flynn after this warning?

CNN notes that due to national security constraints, we may not hear the full story.

Drip, drip, drip.

The noose tightens. RESIST!!

The Immodium has not kicked in all the way, but my trips are less frequent than yesterday, and I did get a little sleep.  Summer seems to have arrived.  From yesterday’s high of 57°, today’s is forecast at 81° and extremely humid.  Currently it’s 83%.  Needless to say, the AC is going.  I’m waiting for Store to Door to come with groceries.  Wendy will be here this evening.  In this weather the TomCat will need extra destinking.

Amen Keith! To clarify, the minute Obama fired Flynn in 2014, his security clearance died with his job, so when he and his co-traitor Jill Stein joined Putin [R-RU] on RT, it was not on Obama’s watch, as Trump claims. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: A class of fourth-grade students touring the White House on Monday had a chance encounter with Donald Trump and were able to answer several of his questions about the Civil War.

The students, on a field trip organized by their Bethesda, Maryland, elementary school, happened upon Trump outside the Oval Office and “cleared a lot of things up for him,” their teacher said.

After Trump invited the children into his office, the ten-year-olds briefed him on the causes of the Civil War, including slavery, states’ rights, and regional economic differences.

“It was really cool,” Tracy Klugian, who had done a diorama about the Civil War while in third grade, said. “Someday I’ll be able to tell my kids that I met the President and taught him about history.”

Andy! Are you spreading Republican propaganda? Clearly anything taught at a 4th grade level is way too advanced for Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten to understand! RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: Donald Trump blamed the Constitution for his repeated failures in his first hundred days in office. He told Fox News that the Constitution is  archaic and that the rule of law that has prevented his unconstitutional edicts from being implemented "is a bad thing for the country”. www.theguardian.com/…

In an interview with Fox News to mark the 100-day mark, he declared himself “disappointed” with congressional Republicans, despite his many “great relationships” with them.

He blamed the constitutional checks and balances built in to US governance. “It’s a very rough system,” he said. “It’s an archaic system … It’s really a bad thing for the country.”

Since Trump considers the Constitution a bad thing for the country, we can be sure he will appoint more Injustices like Whoresuch to SCROTUS (Republican Constitutional VD). Fascist pseudo-Christian ideology will be the basis of their decisions. RESIST!!

My own definition:

Godwin’s Law – a common meme used by Republicans, other fascists, pseudo-intellectuals, and people with their heads in the sand or in smellier places, whenever anyone points out the verifiable commonalities between today’s Republican Party and Germany’s National Socialist Party, as Hitler became dictator.

Here are the results of our “Survive Trump” poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are usually factually accurate, and more often than not, they reflect thinking of the majority of those who think.

0501Poll

Since our polling site no longer enables us to copy and paste your poll comments, you may read them here.

I voted ‘definitely not’.  The reason is that Trump appointed Whoresuch, an ideologue so extreme that he almost makes Scalia seem reasonable, to SCROTUS (Republican Constitutional VD).  He will be shitting on our Constitution for decades after Trump disappears into a shower of gold.

I have posted a new poll.  Please vote.  Then…

It’s been a very long day and I’m very tired from setting up a new poll and from doing the research and preparing the graphics for tomorrow’s Monthly Report.  Please pardon my brevity.

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Commenting on Donald Trump’s first hundred days in office, Vice-President Mike Pence told Fox News on Sunday, “To tell you the truth, I really thought I’d be President by now.”

“When I agreed to run on the ticket with him, I said to myself, ‘Mike, after he’s been in the White House for a few weeks, he’ll be a total train wreck and you’ll be able to slide into the big-boy chair,’ ” Pence said. “I never in a million years thought he’d last a hundred days. My best guess was thirty.”

The former Indiana governor said that, with such seemingly fatal missteps as Trump’s failed health-care plan and travel bans, as well as any number of unhinged outbursts, “It feels like I’ve come close to getting in there maybe ten or twelve times. But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.”

Calling the past hundred days “the longest hundred days of my life,” Pence said that he has no choice now but to “sit and wait for my moment.”

Andy has made it clear that impeaching Trump is not enough. We also need to dump dozens of Republicans in the Presidential succession queue simultaneously. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: A man armed with a machete and a bag full of knives seriously injured a Kentucky student Friday morning in a politically motivated attack at a campus coffee shop….

“The day of reckoning is here,” the man said, according to witnesses.

He then approached two women at the café.

“He asked the first girl if she was a Democrat or a Republican, she said Republican, (and) he said okay, then asked some other girl,” said witness Michael Soder. “By that time, some of my friends were running out and yelling for us to leave, and I tried to stay behind to see if — I mean I didn’t know what to do, I wanted to help, but I knew I should get out of there.”

Another witness shared a similar account.

“He asked somebody what their political affiliation was, they said ‘Republican,’ and the guy said, ‘You are safe,’ and then I realized what was going on and started getting people out,” said witness Tristan Reynolds.

The assailant, who police said was a former student, then pulled out a machete and attacked a woman in the café. [emphasis original]

I guess I need to retire the term Al Dubya after all these years. Al Drumpfenfarten is a greater terrorist threat to America and the World than al Qaeda or the Daesh ever were.  RESIST!!

From NY Times: Congressional leaders reached a bipartisan agreement on Sunday to fund the government through September, effectively ending any suspense about the possibility of a government shutdown next weekend.

The agreement, which still must be voted on by lawmakers, includes increased funding for the military and for border security. But it does not include funding for the wall that President Trump wants to build along the border with Mexico, one of his major campaign promises.

The deal increases funding for the National Institutes of Health, despite the Trump administration’s request that its budget be reduced for the rest of the fiscal year. And it provides millions of dollars to reimburse costs incurred by local law enforcement agencies to protect Mr. Trump and his family — a boon to New York City, which has had the costly task of helping to protect Trump Tower.

The spending package would be the first significant bipartisan measure approved by Congress during the Trump presidency. Republicans, despite having control of both houses of Congress and the White House, were unable to pass any marquee legislation in the president’s first 100 days.

I’ll reserve judgment until I have more info, but it appears we got as much as we gave up or more, and the compromise appears better than a government shutdown.  RESIST!!
