I have a very busy day.  Wendy will be here shortly, and we have lots to do, while meditating upon the holy Ellipsoid Orb!  When she arrives, I’ll break and finish when she leaves.

Wendy just left. We finished everything and I fed her pizza for lunch.

Short Takes:

From AM Joy: FBI, law enforcement: Overlooking violent white supremacists?

The FBI says that ‘black identity extremists’ threaten police, but many believe authorities are ignoring the documented violence of white supremacists. Joy Reid and her panel discuss.

I think police have little interest in white supremacist gang violence for two reasons. Police depend on the Republican Reich, who white supremacists represent, for military toys with which to kill Blacks.  Second, police arresting such gang members would stand a high chance of arresting brother officers. RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: When eleven-year-old Cub Scout Ames Mayfield learned that his den was holding an event where cub scouts would be encouraged to ask questions of Colorado state senator Vicki Marble, R-Fort Collins, he spent days doing research on her views and the issues.  He came prepared with two questions, one on gun control and one on comments she’d made at 2013 legislative hearing on poverty and mortality rates among African-Americans.

A few days after the event, where he did, indeed, ask his questions, he got the news that a den leader felt the questions were too pointed and had kicked him out of the troop.

His mother says that the only thing she told him to do was to be respectful and preface any question with “with all due respect.”

This perfectly illustrates the Republican position on the First Amendment. RESIST!!

From NY Times: In signing a recent executive order, President Trump promised that millions of Americans could soon obtain “great, great health care” through inexpensive plans that offer consumers options they had been denied under the Affordable Care Act.

But these health plans, created for small businesses, have a darker side: They have a long history of fraud and abuse that have left employers and employees with hundreds of millions of dollars in unpaid medical bills.

The problems are described in dozens of court cases and enforcement actions taken over more than a decade by federal and state officials who regulate the type of plans Mr. Trump is encouraging, known as association health plans.

In many cases, the Labor Department said, it has targeted “unscrupulous promoters who sell the promise of inexpensive health benefit insurance, but default on their obligations.” In several cases, it has found that people managing these health plans diverted premiums to their personal use.

To anyone stupid enough to buy such a plan: Welcome to RepubliCare. RESIST!!

It’s that time of week again, and I’m happy to share three fine video clips from Bill’s show last night.  Enjoy!!

Monologue: Salt in the Wound

Bill may have been mistaken to present Tillerson positively in this. Chad withdrew its troops, which had stabilized the region, because Chad was added to the Republican Muslim Ban. This happened after Chad sued Tillerson’s company, Exxon, and made them pay $millions in past-due payments for Chad’s oil. That, along with a massive Republican intelligence failure, may well be why our soldiers died.

Janice Min: Predators in Power

Once Republican predators are outed, like Donald Trump and Clarence Thomas, Republicans ignore their crimes, and cover-up for them. Once Democratic predators are outed, like Weinstein and Weiner, we punish them and get them into therapy.  That says it all.

I’m trying to be as lazy as I can today.  Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are visiting LA to worship with the Chargers.  The game will not be televised here, because it is at the same time as the damn SeaChickens game.  It’s also a Wendy day, and we have lots to do, including the dreaded task.  May the divine Orb shine its blessed light on your team, unless they are electrical.

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MoveOn Channel): Dangerous Policy

For decades, it has been standard Republican misogyny that the right to life begins at conception, and standard Republican misanthropy that it ends at birth. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: In a stirring defense of Donald Trump’s chief of staff, General John Kelly, the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said on Friday that it was “unpatriotic in the extreme” to offer irrefutable video proof that a four-star general lied.

“It is unpatriotic enough to accuse a four-star general of lying,” Sanders told the White House press corps. “But to make available a video that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that that general lied is unpatriotic bordering on treasonous.”

Warming to her subject, Sanders said that any American who sees undeniable video evidence that a general lied and chooses to believe the video “shows disrespect for our country and hatred for our flag.”

Andy, is this supposed to be unusual? It looks like standard Republican Reich raving to me. RESIST!!

From The Rachel Maddow Show: Trump Chief of staff John Kelly lied in attack on Rep. Wilson

Rachel Maddow reports the latest developments in the mess Donald Trump has made politicizing military next-of-kin notifications with the fact that Trump chief of staff John Kelly’s attack on Rep. Frederica Wilson in his defense of Trump was completely false.

No matter how greasy the sleaze, IOKIYAR! If Kelly were not a goose-stepping Fascist racist, Trump would never have appointed him. If you hoping Kelly will save us if Trump goes for the nuclear football, this is an example of his courage. RESIST!!

1020TrumpAndReich

As Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten continues to demonstrate that every day, he is more insane, more greedy, more hateful, more incompetent and more dangerous than he was the day before, we become more and more frustrated that the Republican infestation of government prevents Democrats from ousting him.  We often ask, "Why don’t Republicans do something?"  I think we all have a pretty good idea, but the following article illustrates it superbly.

Republicans In Congress Profit From The Coming Trump Apocalypse

Somebody ought to write a self-help book for Republican politicians called, "How to Profit from the Coming Trump Apocalypse." Although, come to think of it, they’re doing pretty well with that already. The newspapers have been filled with stories of Trump’s tense relationship with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. And Trump’s escalating war of words with…

More Proof of Cooperation

Day after day the evidence of criminal activity by Trump and his close associates to aid the Russian theft of the 2016 Residential election on Trump’s behalf continues to grow.  Yesterday a former CIA Director said that Russians could not have micro targeted their propaganda the way they did without American assistance.  Now we learn that close Trump associates assisted in circulating tweets from Russian troll farms.

1019TrumpComrade

Multiple members of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, including Donald Trump Jr., campaign manager Kellyanne Conway and other staffers circulated tweets by professional trolls on the payroll of the Russian government, according to a startling new report from the Daily Beast.

According to the Daily Beast:

“The Twitter account @Ten_GOP, which called itself the ‘Unofficial Twitter account of Tennessee Republicans,’ was operated from the Kremlin-backed ‘Russian troll farm,’ or Internet Research Agency, a source familiar with the account confirmed.”

The Russian-backed organization responsible for the tweets engaged in a widespread influence campaign that included popular social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.

Twitter refused to comment on the revelations, citing “privacy and security reasons.”

This is the first tangible evidence presented to the public that members of the Trump campaign team promoted Russian propaganda materials in the course of the election. Some of these campaign members, including Conway and the president’s son, are influential within the Trump administration… [emphasis added]

It’s been another busy day.  I scheduled medical appointments, and lift bus rides.  I ordered a new cover for Stumpy.  Last night, I asked Wendy to measure my circumference three inches back from the tip.  You should have seen the look on her face, when she asked me what on earth for.  So I told her.  She was most relieved, I was talking about Stumpy. From 11th Hour: Fmr. CIA boss Brennan: World may wonder if Trump’s just reckless

For the first time, fmr. CIA Director John Brennan takes on Trump’s foreign policy – issuing dire warnings on the threat of war with North Korea and Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.

For a former CIA Director to make such a public statement is unprecedented. RESIST!!

From NY Times: President Trump on Wednesday backed away from his endorsement of a bipartisan Senate proposal to stabilize health insurance markets, throwing the legislative effort into doubt even as the chief architect of the deal predicted that it would become law before the end of the year.

The latest actions by the White House confused Republicans on Capitol Hill and irked Democrats — but in the end, their effect was not clear. The effort to calm roiled insurance markets appears destined for a showdown in December, when supporters of the compromise, drafted by Senators Lamar Alexander, Republican of Tennessee, and Patty Murray, Democrat of Washington, will have the most leverage.

The mixed signals began Tuesday, when Mr. Trump appeared to give his blessing to the deal to restore subsidies to health insurers that he said days before he would cut off. Mr. Alexander and Ms. Murray agreed on legislation that would continue federal payments to insurance companies through 2019 to reimburse them for discounts that they are required to provide to millions of low-income people who have coverage under the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare.

I just received an email from Jeff Merkley [D-OR] that he supports it, but as I said yesterday, the chance of passage is slim at best. RESIST!!

Another Heck of a Job

Who remembers Brownie, the completely unqualified political appointee, whom Nincompoop Nero, aka Crawford Caligula, praised with “heck of a job” as New Orleans drowned?  It is possible, however unlikely, that Brownie might have done a better job, had he not been deprived of needed  information about conditions there.  With that in mind, thanks to the only Resident worse than GW ChickenHawk in US history, another heck of a job may be just around the corner.

1018kirstjen-nielsen-Trump

President Donald Trump officially announced Thursday the nomination of Kirstjen Nielsen, John Kelly’s former principal deputy chief of staff, to be the new nominee for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

At a formal White House event to announce the nomination, Trump spoke highly of Nielsen and her “sterling reputation as a dedicated leader whose number one priority was the security of our citizens, not politics or ideology.”

Trump added: “That sets her apart.”

After Trump’s remarks, Nielsen said it was a privilege to have worked at the White House and DHS, and she implied that she shares the administration’s priorities when it comes to national security.

“I share the President’s commitment to the security of the county and the safety of the American people,” she said. “Truly, there is nothing more valuable than to feel safe in your own country.”…

That may see, innocuous enough on the surface, but there’s a lot more to this story.

1018NOLAOn Aug 27, 2005, two days before Hurricane Katrina made landfall, officials at the American Red Cross wrote to a top homeland security adviser at the White House, warning that the storm was likely to slam New Orleans as a major hurricane.

The message was sent to Kirstjen Nielsen, whose title was special assistant to the president for prevention, preparedness and response. She was 33 years old.

It was the first of many alarming emails Nielsen would receive over the following days as water poured into New Orleans and the city was deluged. And in the storm of blame that followed the costliest natural disaster in American history, Nielsen’s team was widely criticized for its passive and clumsy response.

Twelve years later, President Trump has nominated Nielsen to the top job at the Department of Homeland Security. As DHS secretary, she would be in charge of a 240,000-employee agency with a $40 billion budget whose many responsibilities include managing disasters such as Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico… [emphasis added]

Rachel Maddow explains in detail how Nielsen sat on the information, neither responding to it, nor passing it on to someone who could.

If Senate Republicans confirm Nielsen, God help the families of all the dead when her Republican response to the next disaster is incompetent to meet the need.
