Personal Update – 3/16/2018

While out to the doctor, the left rear tire on my power chair spilt, leaving me at risk. I was able to limp it home. I have a set of replacement rear wheels coming tomorrow by FedEx Overnight, and WWWendy will install them Sunday. Pray that this thing holds out until them. Megan, my PCP, puts patients on two lists, naughty and nice, based on how they take care of themselves. She said I’m near the top of her nice list. I had to explain that TomCats are naughty by definition. This is today’s only article.

From The New Yorker: Calling the result “close but no cigar,” Vladimir Putin has conceded defeat in Tuesday night’s special congressional election in Pennsylvania.

Speaking to reporters at the Kremlin, Putin thanked the many Russian campaign workers who tried but failed to propel the Republican candidate, Rick Saccone, into the winner’s circle.

“Our social-media trolls did some of their finest work to put Rick over the top, but, in the final analysis, we were a day late and a ruble short,” the Russian President said.

Putin had high praise for the Democratic candidate, Conor Lamb, who, he said, “managed to win in a district that I easily delivered to Donald Trump in 2016.”

In my volunteer work, I’m aware of dozens of cases of prosecutorial misconduct. I think that, when an innocent person serves time as a result of prosecutorial misconduct, the prosecutor should have to serve an equal amount of time in the same prison.

“I mean, the way I see it playing out, he’s up at 3 a.m., starting a new feud with Oprah or someone, and that’s when he finds out,” Tillerson said. “My only regret is that I won’t be there to see it.”

Tillerson started laughing in what some witnesses described as a demonic manner as he imagined Trump learning of his impeachment on Twitter.

“I mean, you have to picture him with his BlackBerry in his itty-bitty hands, and that’s how he finds out,” Tillerson cackled. “It would serve the bastard right.”

Just Who Is Rocket Man?

I have no doubt that you all remember how the world’s most bellicose and least competent world leader insulted fellow megalomaniac, Kim Jong Un by calling him Rocket Man. Trump did so in retaliation for Kim’s tests of an ICBM, capable of hitting targets anywhere in the US. In effect, Trump called Kim a warmonger with nuclear weapons, and dared him to use them. But just who is Rocket Man?

President Donald Trump has declared he wants a new “Space Force” alongside his army, navy and air forces as the battle for world dominance moves overhead.

Trump has just told a gathering of military personnel at the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego, California, that he wants one.

“Space is a war-fighting domain, just like the land, air, and sea,” he said. “We may even have a Space Force, develop another one, Space Force. We have the Air Force, we’ll have the Space Force.”

He’s proud of the term.

“I said, ‘maybe we need a new force, we’ll call it the Space Force,’ and I was not really serious. Then I said, ‘what a great idea,’ maybe we’ll have to do that,” he told the Marines…

From The New Yorker: Reaching the opposite conclusion of many of their committee peers, Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee said on Tuesday that the Japanese did not meddle in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

“After an exhaustive investigation, we have come to the conclusion that there was no attempt by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service to influence the outcome of Pearl Harbor,” Rep. Mike Conaway, a Republican of Texas, said. “Any suggestion to the contrary amounts to nothing more or less than a witch hunt.”

Conaway said that while there were Japanese bombers in the vicinity of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, their role in the attack there has been “blown out of proportion.”

Dang Andy! The Japanese were as innocent as Trump and far more humane than he is. RESIST!!

Tillerson Out Pompeo In

No Administration in US history, has had more turnover of top people than the Trump Residency, leading to an ever increasing level of incompetence due to chaos. Now, Trump has fired Putin’s choice for Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, and nominated Mike Pompeo, former CIA Director, Teabagger Representative from KS, and Kris Kobitch supporter, to fill the post.

President Trump announced on Tuesday that he had ousted Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson and will replace him with Mike Pompeo, now the C.I.A. director, ending the 14-month tenure of the nation’s chief diplomat who repeatedly had found himself at odds with the White House on a variety of key foreign policy issues.

“We were not really thinking the same,” Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House, explaining his decision to replace Mr. Tillerson.

He added: “Really, it was a different mind-set, a different thinking.”

Mr. Tillerson found out he had been fired before dawn, shortly after his flight returned from a weeklong trip to Africa, said Steve Goldstein, the under secretary of state for public diplomacy…

I understand that Tillerson was asked to resign, refused, and was fired by tweet from Twit.

I think everything possible should be done to delay Pompeo’s confirmation. First, he is a sycophant. Tillerson would stand up to Trumps worst impulses until the urge had past. Pompeo will likely feed them. Worse yet, Pompeo is a warmonger. To make matters worse, Pompeo’s replacement at the CIA is Gina Haspel, a torture-maven who ran a secret CIA site in Thailand, where she tortured prisoners. Then she tried to cover it up by destroying the records of her war crimes. We must fight her appointment too.
