Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population. Nevertheless, our polls are usually factually accurate, and more often than not, they reflect thinking of the majority of those who actually do think.

Since the Repubs changed the rules (2 or more times), they still have to get 51 votes. McCain can just stay home, or in hospital, and they Won’t have 51. I can imagine ALL the Repubs might vote for the dipstick, but ANY Democrat who caves in should be thrown out of the Party immediately!

Hated to do it, but voted Definitely since I believe the GOP and Trump will prevail. Through bullying and downright threats they will elect another person who will throw the Constitution out the window…the Rights we have left will be finally taken away. This country has entered into the Dark Ages and I am scared there will be no light at the end of the very long, very dark tunnel for years.

For the first time ever, my 91-yr-pld mom, a GOP core voter, has refused to vote in her primary. She enclosed a note saying she was ashamed to be a Republican. Sadly, this just means all of the Republicans that are in office in TN will get her vote since she’s registered GOP. Big Sigh.

Thanx TomCat…my first comment here, but hopefully not the last, as I have been mostly absent from C2.

Unfortunately, I had to vote “probably”. And just a little more and I would have voted “definitely”. I don’t think there is anything that will keep this from happening. And that is sad to say, how things go right now. Unless Mueller brings out his big guns, I see no hope in keeping this from a done deal.

I know McConnell said they’d vote on one as soon as possible, and they changed the rules (as Republicans do) to make it possible to seat one with ONLY 51 votes. But the 2 Republicans from AZ could stop that (McCain can just stay home, or in a hospital & Flake could go either way, he’s odd) & the 2 women who stopped the Obamacare repeal could throw a wrench in "hiring" another Anti-Woman Judge. So I’m holding out a bit of hope. Otherwise it Will Be the Civil War the right-wingers have been wishing for! They cannot steal ANOTHER Judgeship without paying the consequences!

I like to hold out some hope, so I only went for "probable". It would be nice to be surprised in a positive way by Congress for once, but deep down I know it’s idle hope.

Probably. His list has been vetted by the Federalist Society – a right-wing group masquerading as a Libertarian group.

They won’t make mistakes that allowed the likes of Flynn and Scaramucci and Lewandowski to slither in.

So any chance of finding a skeleton in a nominee’s closet is virtually nil. And that was our only hope of blocking Twitler’s choice.

Probably yes. But that should not depress us into failing to do everything we can to stop it from happening.

I voted with the majority. As much as I want to, I see no way to stop it without Republican help, which I doubt we’ll get.

Here in the CatBox the heat wave is winding down. 85° is forecast today, then a couple days in the high 70°s, and then, back to the 80°s for the foreseeable future. I’m waiting for Store to Door to arrive with my groceries. WWWendy comes this evening to destink the desperately smelly TomCat. This morning, in addition to my research and preparing the poll, I made all the graphics and collected all the data needed for July’s Monthly Report. I hope to publish that on Friday. Tomorrow, I have an appointment with my oncologist to formally get my cat-scan results and to give blood for one final test. Therefore please expect no more than a Personal Update from me tomorrow, and I will not be distributing links messages on Care2. Happy Hump Day to all!

Events in the last week have made it clear that undeniable proof is about to surface that Putin’s Puppet did criminally conspire with a hostile power, Russia, to subvert the 2016 Presidential election to install himself in the White House. Trying to get out ahead of that and brainwash his sheeple in advance, he, his, staff, Rudy 9/11, and the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, have all started parroting the same lame lie There was no collusion, but if there was, collusion is not illegal.

President Donald Trump’s defense in the Russia investigation has been a study in goal-post moving — constantly watering down previous denials and raising the standard for what would constitute actual wrongdoing. But rarely has it been so concentrated in one morning.

Trump’s lawyer/spokesman Rudolph Giuliani appeared on Fox News’s and CNN’s morning shows on Monday to downplay the idea that colluding with the Russians would have even been illegal and to argue against strawmen.

The most notable portion of the interviews was when Giuliani rekindled the idea that collusion isn’t even a crime.

Trump’s defenders have occasionally noted that the word doesn’t appear in the criminal code – which is a misnomer – but Giuliani took it a step further: He basically suggested Trump would have had to pay for Russia to interfere on his behalf.

"I don’t even know if that’s a crime – colluding with Russians," Giuliani said on CNN. "Hacking is the crime. The president didn’t hack. He didn’t pay for the hacking."… [emphasis added]

If Putin were to hand Trump a money bill for hacking, I imagine Trump would treat Putin the same way he treats everyone else, who works for Trump on credit. He would send Putin away with empty hands and empty promises. Handing Putin NATO is OK though.

Here in the CatBox the heat wave goes on and on and on. Last night, when I went to bed, the temperature was still 90°. Starting Thursday, we may have a few cooler days. I get my CAT-Scan results formally on Thursday, but I saw them posted online. I don’t speak all the medical lingo, but I could tell that I do not have cancer and that I am still a cat.

From Willamette Week: U.S. Rep. Greg Walden is hosting a fundraiser with the top Republican leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday.

For between $2,500 and $25,000 a person, donors can attend the dinner event at Wilsonville location that was not named on the invitation. (Larger donations gets you photos.)

House Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy will attend. The proceeds will go to Walden, National Republican Campaign Committee and the Republican National Committee.

The secrecy of the location, in a suburban town 17 miles south of Portland, suggests Walden is seeking Portland dollars and ease of access—without risking a blue-city backlash.

Whitman followed Charles Lovett for two miles to his home after an apparent driving incident.

Lovett recorded the conversation, in which Whitman can be seen saying, “I just want to let you know what a n—– you are."…

They shared [Whitman’s] image online, overloaded his voicemail and flooded consumer websites like Yelp with hundreds of negative reviews, complete with images of the Ku Klux Klan and Hitler.

“I’m out of business, I’m completely out, I’m done, I’ll never work in Columbus again,” Whitman whined of the hateful verbal assault he describes as a "mistake."

Few people are still serving in the Congress of the US House of Representatives with 27 years in office. Only one African American Representative, John Lewis [D-GA], has been there longer, and on Sunday, Maxine Waters [D-CA]. In that time she has grown a pair of huge brass balls, something every Democrat needs. On Sunday, she proved again that she is truly an American hero. She tore Donnie Diaper Dump a new asshole!

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) vowed on Sunday that all of President Donald Trump’s secrets would be exposed before he left office

During an interview on MSNBC, host David Gura asked Waters to respond to Trump’s threat to shut down the government if he does not get funding to build a border wall.

“You know, this president is a bully and he will try to intimidate all of us,” Waters insisted. “He is not going to shut down anything. As a matter of fact, people will remember that he said he was going to build this wall and he was going to make Mexico pay for the wall. They said they weren’t going to pay for anything. Now he wants the American citizens to pay for this.”

Waters noted that Trump has taken credit for positive economic numbers, but she said that the president is weighed down by his other scandals.

“There is so much going on with this president and his allies and with Giuliani and all of this,” she explained. “With the judge having decided that they can go forward with the emoluments claim with what is happening on the border.”

“When you couple that with the fact that his son has lied, he has lied about that meeting that took place at the tower, at the Trump Tower, all of that is going to help, you know, obscure the message that he is trying to bring on the economy,” Waters said. “This president is wreaking havoc on this country. And so while there is some improvement in the economy, we have all of this other mess that we have to take a look at and what is, you know, in the forefront of what is being talked about in the media.”…

From Politico: Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Sunday that she intends to serve “at least five more years,” a stretch that would extend her career beyond her 90th birthday.

“I’m now 85,” Ginsburg said on Sunday, according to CNN. “My senior colleague, Justice John Paul Stevens, he stepped down when he was 90, so think I have about at least five more years.”

Ginsburg, nominated by former President Bill Clinton and confirmed to the Supreme Court in 1993, is already the court’s oldest justice and is also among its most liberal. Her future on the bench has been the subject of significant speculation since her departure during President Donald Trump’s term would afford him the opportunity to appoint a third Supreme Court justice, shifting the court’s balance of power for years, and potentially decades, to come.

Here is the one hundred twenty-seventh article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honorees are Republican former NOLA police officers, John Galman and Spencer Sutton. They are so honored for the racist Republican way they beat the crap out of a Latino using the excuse that they didn’t like his camouflage clothing.

It’s frustratingly rare that law enforcement officers are held accountable for wrongdoing, especially when people of color are the victims of violence at the hands of white cops. Perhaps that’s what makes this story so surprising: less than 24 hours after George Gomez was beaten to a pulp near his New Orleans home, the cops responsible found themselves in handcuffs—and out of a job.

Gomez, 36, tells The Advocate’s Ramon Antonio Vargas that he encountered John Galman, 26, and Spencer Sutton, 24, at the Mid-City Yacht Club early Tuesday morning. Turns out the off-duty cops didn’t care for Gomez’s sartorial choices.

Gomez said […] one said he didn’t like the military camouflage shirt and pants being worn by Gomez, who is Hispanic.

"He asked me if I was American. I told him yes, and he got mad because he said I was fake," said Gomez, who described himself as a U.S. native who was raised in Honduras before returning to live in New Orleans.

Gomez, who speaks Spanish as well as English with an accent, also described being asked if he served in the military.

Gomez said he did serve, including with the Louisiana National Guard, but the man who took issue with his clothing wasn’t satisfied with any of his answers.

Gomez claims he then walked to his home nearby, and got in his truck, only to encounter Galman and Sutton, who blocked his vehicle and confronted him. Gomez says that neither man identified themselves as police officers… [emphasis added]

I don’t have much to add. However, when I read the article on Kos, I was wearing a camouflage T identical to the one Gomez was wearing, and that felt very weird.

Those two should be prosecuted for a hate crime and and permanently banned from police work everywhere.

Here in the CatBox it looks like it will top 100° again today, as Portland is still under an excessive heat warning. WWWendy is due in half an hour. It’s frustrating to get a shower, need another by bedtime, and know it will be three days, before I get it. Speaking of frustrating, I was working on an idea for another ‘Republicans on Parade’ graphic. I typed ‘asshole’ to Google Images. It displayed no pics of a real asshole, but several of the pics were of Trump.

We had ribs. They tasted almost as good as BBQ dawg.
