Here are the results of our “Preferred Democrat” Poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are usually factually accurate, and more often than not, they reflect the thinking of the majority of those who actually do think.

My choice is Elizabeth Warren. She seems to me to be the strongest for many of the current issues our country is facing. We need someone like her NOW.

Warren doesn’t yet show an understanding of human rights and related foreign policy concerns

My choice of Elizabeth Warren really doesn’t matter, because I can’t vote for her. My only concern would be – but that’s a general concern for all candidates mentioned here – that I have no idea what her ideas on foreign politics are. Hillary was a known hawk, but I’ve no idea how Liz would do on an international stage. One thing is for sure, she couldn’t possibly do as much damage as Trump. However, I’ve yet to be convinced she could undo Trump’s harm.

Up to 5, and still 100% for Liz.

Really looking forward to the upcoming debate with only 10 total.

I think the only “fireworks” in that one will come from “second tier” candidates who fear the winnowing process – especially from Beto! He’s turned into a firebrand!

Well, it’s only 3 of us, so far, but 100% for Liz!

She seems to have a solid grasp of what ails, and how to deal with what ails.

I, like Pat B, picked Elizabeth Warren. I find her plans to cover more issues than those of other candidates. (I find it scary that we are in a place where, to survive, we need to change EVERYTHING about the Federal Government, but, allowing for natural exaggeration, that’s where we are.)

Posted by Pat B  September 3, 2019 at 6:33 am. From:  TX (US)

She’s focused, and experienced in speaking, with the important issues that are on people’s minds. Imho, she’s got the goods, the talent, and the drive to make this happen! Go, Ms. Warren!

I voted for Liz.  She’s the overwhelming favorite here.

The new poll is up and is mostly based on we learned in the past 24 hours.  Please vote and…

From The New Yorker: Shortly after tweeting that his impeachment could result in a civil war, Donald J. Trump clarified that, in the event of such a war, he would seek a new note from his podiatrist.

Trump issued the clarification after military advisers cautioned him that, after starting a civil war, he might reasonably be expected to participate in it.

Speaking to reporters on the White House lawn, Trump said, “Much as I would like to fight in a civil war, my very serious foot condition would keep me from doing that.”

Go for the Senate?

By all appearances, Fuhrer Donald Trump, aka Putin’s Puppet, is a dead duck.  If Congress doesn’t get him, voters probably will.  Some say that Democratic Campaign 2020 should concentrate on taking the Senate.  I partially agree.

BoughtBitchMoscowMitch

Political suicidal is anything but painless, or quick. Trump has finally done himself in, indicted by his own craven self-dealing — mismanaged in an especially stupid manner. The great truth is that, however appalling, Ukraine cannot be the only such disgraceful national betrayal in three years.

As the Ukraine scandals expand, dwarfing in seriousness all prior impeachment inquiries, his presidency is fatally broken — toast in terms of legislative wins. Sure, his outrageous rampage can plunder on, for Trump’s “genius” forever finds new ways to break the law, violate his oath and betray the office.

But the big cat is out of the bag. Trump’s undeniable witches brew of Ukrainian crimes — bullying/blackmail/election abuses/obstruction of justice and coverup — spotlight once again how he grossly shames the presidency, the government and the country.  Really, did the most corrupt president ever need another monumental disgrace to dramatize this walking, talking, insatiably self-serving time bomb?

So, the presidency aside (even if Pence takes over), the 2020 focus should be on Senate control. The longer top Republican senators refuse to isolate themselves from Trump’s never-ending misadventures, the greater the party damage. What was an improbable prospect only weeks ago — Democrats retaking the Senate — increases in direct proportion to the severity and duration of the Trump train wreck. Hear, hear: investigate everything but don’t worry when or if there’s a House impeachment vote until well into next year. The Trump poison now threatens to spread his illegitimacy party wide — and that sets up a Democratic rout, from the top down…

I agree that taking the Senate and defrocking Bought Bitch Moscow Mitch must be a very high priority, and we must invest the effort and resources to do so.

However, nobody would have believed that Putin could have tipped the scales in Trump’s favor and we must also invest the effort and resources to be sure that doesn’t happen again.

Furthermore, the party that controls the state legislatures draws the voting districts for the next ten years.  Republicans have demonstrating their expertise at using that power to squeeze majority representation from minority support.  So we must invest the effort and resources to win there too.

In short, the Democrats must walk and chew gum at the same time.  There is more than enough work to go around.

For the second week in a row, a bad call late in the 4th quarter cost my Broncos the game.  Von Miller hit the Jags QB just before the ball left his hand.  (I reviewed this in freeze-frame slow-motion.)  The ref mistakenly called Von for a late hit.  The pass was complete but way short of a first down.  The Broncos should have taken possession there, but the call gave the Jags a first down.  A few plays later, the Jags kicked the winning FG.  ARGH!  Even more exasperating, the Squatch is kicking my ass big time!  Oh… the shame!

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: In a move that raised eyebrows in the nation’s capital, the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, announced on Monday that the United States Senate would be closed until the year 2021, “for repainting.”

Calling the current state of the Senate’s paint job “a national disgrace,” McConnell said that repainting the Senate was “the most urgent problem facing our democracy today.”

“The Democrats can waste their time with all their usual hijinks and tomfoolery, but I cannot stand idly by and watch the walls of this hallowed chamber grow dingy and chipped,” McConnell said.

Dang, Andy! It would not surprise me if Bought Bitch Moscow Mitch did just that! RESIST!!

From Daily Kos: The former ambassador who travel to Niger and shot down the lies put forward by the Bush administration over nuclear weapons being created in Iraq has died.

He wrote a piece for the New York Times entitled “What I didn’t find in Africa”. It was the beginning of what would become “Plamegate”, the attempt to destroy his reputation through his wife, former CIA agent and current New Mexico congressional candidate, Valerie Plame, by outing her work with the CIA and putting her and her (now) ex-husband in danger. The effect would cost her her job with the CIA and a conviction for White House staffer Scooter Libby, which would later be commuted by George W. Bush. The good news out of that was that the truth would come out about the ridiculous foray into Iraq that we are stuck with to this day and the lies that precipitated with it. The journey for the ambassador, however, would not be easy.

It’s that time of week again, so here are three excellent video clips from Bill’s show last night.  Enjoy!

Monologue: America’s Traitor

Party of Blue Balls? LMAO!! Sending a Dick Pic to your Mom? Isn’t that what most Republicans do?  Don’t they send them on microfilm?

Gina McCarthy: Climate Tipping Point

There is only one reason America isn’t moving rapidly toward 100% green Energy. Big carbon polluters own the Republican Reich.

New Rule: White Shame

During the sixties I remember feeling thoroughly frustrated, because most of the black people I encountered were not interested in protesting for civil rights.  Perhaps I was overly sensitive, because my father was such an extreme racist.

Bill was quite funny last night, especially the first segment.

Screw The DINOs!

What is a DINO, anyway?  In 2016, most DINOs were lefties.  Though they voted in the primaries and caucuses, they abandoned the party, because their candidate (and mine) didn’t win the nomination.  So they wrote in votes for Bernie, or voted for the Russia’s pawn, traitor Jill Stein, or stayed home.  Some even voted for Trump.  It they had not become DINOs and had supported the party, we would not have the mess we have today, because Trump could not have stolen the election.  This time, the DINOs are more typical for the word.  They are the wealthy, corporate Democrats, and they are scared shitless of Elizabeth Warren.

0927dino-democrats

They don’t like Senator Warren:

Democratic donors on Wall Street and in big business are preparing to sit out the presidential campaign fundraising cycle — or even back President Donald Trump — if Sen. Elizabeth Warren wins the party’s nomination.

In recent weeks, CNBC spoke to several high-dollar Democratic donors and fundraisers in the business community and found that this opinion was becoming widely shared as Warren, an outspoken critic of big banks and corporations, gains momentum against Joe Biden in the 2020 race.

“You’re in a box because you’re a Democrat and you’re thinking, ‘I want to help the party, but she’s going to hurt me, so I’m going to help President Trump,’” said a senior private equity executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity in fear of retribution by party leaders. The executive said this Wednesday, a day after Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would begin a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump.

CNBC: Wall Street Democratic donors warn the party: We’ll sit out, or back Trump, if you nominate Elizabeth Warren [emphasis original]

Inserted from <Alternet>

We most not give in to their threats.  I support Elizabeth Warren in the primaries, but if the voters give the nomination, he will have my full support in the general election.  For people who threaten to do otherwise, no matter who wins the nomination, we can only have one valid response.

Screw the DINOS!
