More Pastor Perry Views

Pastor Rick Perry (R-TX) claims that he is called by God to minister the Gospel through holding political office.  He does not seem to care that the establishment clause isn’t too accepting of evangelization through government.  Aside from all his insistence on faith and patriotism, except when he talks about seceding, his views are both anti-American and anti-Christian.

PerryHatIt’s important that Democrats inform themselves all about the dangerous religious extremists with whom Texas Gov. Rick Perry is aligning himself:

So you have to wonder: Is Rick Perry God’s man for president?

Schlueter, Long and other prayer warriors in a little-known but increasingly influential movement at the periphery of American Christianity seem to think so. The movement is called the New Apostolic Reformation. Believers fashion themselves modern-day prophets and apostles. They have taken Pentecostalism, with its emphasis on ecstatic worship and the supernatural, and given it an adrenaline shot.

The movement’s top prophets and apostles believe they have a direct line to God. Through them, they say, He communicates specific instructions and warnings. When mankind fails to heed the prophecies, the results can be catastrophic: earthquakes in Japan, terrorist attacks in New York, and economic collapse. On the other hand, they believe their God-given decrees have ended mad cow disease in Germany and produced rain in drought-stricken Texas.

Their beliefs can tend toward the bizarre. Some consider Freemasonry a “demonic stronghold” tantamount to witchcraft. The Democratic Party, one prominent member believes, is controlled by Jezebel and three lesser demons. Some prophets even claim to have seen demons at public meetings. They’ve taken biblical literalism to an extreme. In Texas, they engage in elaborate ceremonies involving branding irons, plumb lines and stakes inscribed with biblical passages driven into the earth of every Texas county.

Can you imagine the implications of having this man responsible for foreign policy?

  1. Me thinks this guy is still doing way too much LSD. Some of the boomers never outgrew that hallucinogenic.

  2. Oh, great. If the real cause of economic problems is demon-shagging in high places, the next wave of fundie/teabagger accusations against Obama are going to be nuttier than ever.

  3. “Can you imagine the implications of having this man responsible for foreign policy?”

    Or launch codes? Yikes.

  4. The Christian Taliban–make no mistake these people are very serious in their drive to establish a Theocracy in this country ; Altho is is very easy to laugh at them , I do not , The very principles of this country ; separation of Church and State mean nothing to them–The very fact that Perry is considered a serious candidate should , in itself , be a warning , not a reason for laughing-

  5. All of this being “called by God” to run for office is just self serving, superstitious, mumbo jumbo bullshit. The biggest entertainment value comes from watching them try to explain why they didn’t win, after they got “the call”. And these are the same toads who are so quick to condemn the Dalai Lama who just happens to be one of the greatest spiritual leaders in the world today.

    • …….when they lose, is because “Supply Side Jesus” sold them out, I guess………..! 😈

    • And at least the Dali Lama isn’t insane like this guy – holy shit batman. Give this guy a padded room and throw away the key! 😯

  6. Of course, when all else fails blame it on God.

  7. Tell you what, Rick … I won’t try to be a cowboy/governor, if you won’t try to be a preacher.

  8. The third commandment says we are not allowed to make improper use of God’s name (or, as the KJV has it, take the Lord’s name in vain). Sounds as though Perry, like so many other right-wing politicians, is using God’s name to market himself for high office. If that’s not improper use, I don’t know what is.

  9. If he and others like him weren’t so scary they would be laughable. They will always have shoeple to follow them though.

  10. Oudiva, I suppose that’s the crux of it; thinking people (we liberals) realize the guy is either mad as a hatter and/or actually believes gawd has called him to take office to spread “the word,” or is up to no good, so he is either a kook, a schemer, or, a kook and a schemer. None are good, and “we” realize this. Why “they” can’t realize this is puzzling, so I can only conclude they are kooks and/or schemers as well. 😛

  11. This guy is even crazier than Bachmann and I didn’t think that was even possible. And, people listen and believe the crap that’s coming out of this asshole’s mouth. I thank God everyday that I don’t live in Texas and if Governor Good Hair thinks he can win the Repub nom with this kind of crazy assed shit hanging over his head, he’s nuts.
