Wall Unwanted

I don’t want to write about the wall.  Sadly, it is dominating the news, and there’s not much else.  However, there are people less interested in having the wall than I.  They are the American citizens whose lives it would disrupt.  Democrats must not cave in.  The more Trump fights, the fewer support him  All we have to do is wait and inform the people of the US.

0110wall

The serene National Butterfly Center in Hidalgo County, Texas, occupies a 100-acre preserve steps away from the U.S.-Mexico line, where President Donald Trump is expected to visit on Thursday to push for a southern border wall

But for Marianna Trevino-Wright, the center’s director, it is the barrier itself – not an influx of criminals – that poses the greatest risk to the sanctuary, given that current plans call for the wall to bisect its property.

Why on earth would me and my husband live here, and work here, and rear six children here, if it wasn’t safe?” she said.

In McAllen, the county’s largest city, several officials and residents interviewed by Reuters expressed skepticism over Trump’s claim that a wall is required to end what he described as a “crisis” in an Oval Office address on Tuesday.

Seby Haddad, a commercial lender at a regional bank, said he watched this binational community grow for decades because of immigration, not in spite of it.

He rejected the notion that a border wall would help stem the flow of illicit drugs, noting that most narcotics are smuggled in vehicles at official checkpoints, according to government data.

It doesn’t fix any problem,” said Haddad, 38. “It’s an archaic solution.”…  [emphasis added]

Even Republicans are sick of it, as Chris Hayes demonstrates.

I don’t know what Trump will do next, but whatever it is, it will be wrong.

  1. I doubt Trump knows what he will do next, but whatever it is, be sure it will not be good.

  2. I believe that Trump is faking it all along the way now, does not want to look like a fool, he said.  But, IMHO, he is looking more and more like a fool every day.  Skills at negotiating? Never seen ’em!  If the exchange on the ribbon seen at CNN is accurate, Schumer asked why he won’t stop hurting people with the shutdown, he responded “Because then you won’t give me what I want.”  Gee, did he consider, for a moment caring about the people?  “Because you won’t give me what I want,” is something one might expect to hear from a 4 year old!!!!

  3. The Coast Guard recommended its people hold garage sales, or do babysitting. Yeah, he probably doesn’t realize. But how can we be sure? If he did realize, he wouldn’t care. The rhetoric would be the same.

  4. Gawd, he’s a liar on a consistent basis. what a cluster F.

  5. Keep contacting your Congress critters and tell them to oppose the wall. Keep signing petitions against it, and point out how the shutdown is hurting innocent people – kids who will go hungry, people who want to visit national parks and monuments, et cetera.

  6. This whole WALL situation has gone on way too long.
He’s a heartless whiny bas*ard that has to stop his awful bullying now.
He’s causing way too many innocent people to be suffering in multiple ways.
It’s really sickening to listen to his f’ing mouth that speaks such lies about this wall.
We don’t want a wall. Wish the heck he’d understand that, but sorry to say with him being brainless he won’t.

  7. As Laurence so accurately pointed out: Drumpf doesn’t want his wall, he wants his fight. Everything has been said on the wall on both sides, there’s absolutely nothing to add. So, from now on only report on those 800.000 poor federal workers and their struggle to get by from day to day and contrast it with the lavish spending of the White House from day to day. It’s just like the internet: Don’t feed the troll.

  8. Thanks, hugs, and Amen! 17

  9. “It doesn’t fix any problem,” said Haddad, 38. “It’s an archaic solution.”
Trump is an archaic thinker, if he even thinks. He visions himself a 5th Century lord in his walled castle looking down on the villagers supporting him and his family. He must be the center of all things, listened to when he speaks, shown deferential when spoken to and be a wrecking ball when crossed. Stubborn, ignorant, lacking in empathy and foresight. He must be dealt with as all depots and vicious dictators have been dealt with thought history.
