Hate on Our Media?

This evening Donald Trump, Grand Dragon of the Russian Chapter of the KKK, second only to Grand Wizard Putin [R-RU], plans to don his hood and robes to spew a message of hatred and racism against Latinos here without documentation or trying to enter the US, legally or otherwise.  The major Broadcast TV and Cable networks should not give him free air time for the propaganda of hate.

They had an extended discussion on Morning Joe today about the network decision to show Trump’s phony “border crisis” address in prime time tonight.

“Gene, let me ask you, if they didn’t run Barack Obama’s address on immigration in 2014 because they thought it was too political, what in the world would be their justification for running it tonight when they know that objectively, by the numbers, by the data, Donald Trump is going to go on TV tonight and he is going to lie about an imaginary crisis at the southern border?” Joe Scarborough said.

“Well, you know, there’s no objective good reason to do it, but I imagine they felt cornered. You know, he — the way he demonizes the media. If they refuse it’s going to be ‘see, they’re all biased, it’s all fake news, they won’t even carry, you know, an address, i’m the president wanting to speak to the nation,’ ” Eugene Robinson said… [emphasis added]

I agree with Willie.  Trump and his minions will attack authentic news sources whether or not they cover Trump’s hateful lies.  They should not do it.

  1. dt demonizes the media. I wish that the networks didn’t cave like this. I read somewhere that Miller will be preparing his speech. He lies. All.The.Time. He’ll turn it into ‘all about Me’, and a rally. imho.
I will not be watching this, and informed/requested family members not to either. I will read the fact sheet later on, after he speaks.
There is a petition to sign for this, here:

  2. I understand that Democrats have demanded, and been granted, equal time, at least on the big 3. We’ll see.

  3. To watch or not to watch … that is the question.

  4. David Simon  ✔ @AoDespair “If the President of the United States can have both nipples wired to a truck battery that shocks him every time his sneering blowhole ejaculates another lie, I’ll watch tonight’s speech. Otherwise, I need the valuable time to deworm stray dogs and rearrange my books by color.”

Brilliant comment by David Simon!!! ??

trump is often featured on our local news ? ?  i switch channels every time!!!

  5. In truth, I will not be a bit surprised if in tonight’s address Twitler stays on script AND is pretty much factually acceptable, if not entirely accurate.

There’s been a noticeable uptick in the MSM starting – FINALLY at LONG LAST – to call Twitler’s lies, LIES.  And his staff is well-aware that this is starting to have an impact on polling even w/ his base.

I think they will scrupulously – FINALLY – start fact-checking the speech and really force him to stay on point.

But afterwards he won’t be able to help but revert to his natural lying assholery.  It’s in his DNA.

    • Boy, was I WRONG.

He lied pretty much from beginning to end.

Apparently you cannot teach an old dog new tricks.

      • The difference this time is that Shep Smith immediately, and Chris Wallace a bit later, both demolished his speech – on Fox.  Someone at C&L pointed out that, if those were the ones chosen to report on it, Fox may be leading up to throwing him under the bus.

  6. The media will be damned if it does and it will be damned if it doesn’t, as long as Faux News gives Drumpf his eight minutes. And Faux News of course always will. So give Drumpf the eight minutes he’s asking for, no more and have a fact-check ticker running at the bottom. After eight minutes, switch over to eight minutes of Pelosi, Schumer and fact checker.

  7. The only reason I would watch the Orange Ogre give a speech would be if I really needed to throw up.

  8. He gave it.  I did not watch it. Pelosi and Schumer rebutted, in a decent way.  I can imagine the thoughts they did not express.  Somehow, I can’t quite see Pelosi actually saying, on tv, no less, “Jerkoff!”

  9. I purposely went out to have my dinner a little later tonight so I’d miss his speech or whatever it was called.
I heard on CNN yesterday that all the main stations were puzzled if they should show it. Figuring that tRump would bi*ch if they didn’t show it and still bi*ch at them if they did and they were to speak about it in ways he didn’t like, he’d call it “Fake news”.. So in other words, he’d damn them if they do and damn them if they don’t.
I’m curious if the Democrats got equal time like they wanted? Hope they did.
I also didn’t watch so I would stay relaxed and hopefully I’ll get some sleep tonight so I’ll be ready for the operation in the morning.

  10. Thanks, hugs and amen to all.  I’ll save my comment, because today’s lead article is on the speech. 35
