The news this week has been dominated by the Saudi assassination of Jamal Khashoggi.  He is Saudi, a US resident, the father of two American citizens, and a journalist for the Washington post.  Given the several incidents of violent terrorism committed by rabid Republican Trump supporters, one could not pick a worse time to promote violence against journalists.  But that’s exactly what Trump did.

[O]ur [p]resident held a political rally in Montana this week. In between screaming “fake news!” at the fenced-in media and leading attendees in the  “lock her up!” chant, Trump decided that a Thursday night in October, less than three weeks before the midterm elections, was the perfect time to tell his adoring audience what a great fighter he is.

He found himself in reliably red Montana, which he carried by 20 points in 2016, having to give a rally to support the Republican candidate for Senate, Matt Rosendale, because he is running two points behind the Democratic incumbent, Jon Tester, according to the latest polls.

He was also there to support the campaign of Republican Congressman Greg Gianforte, who is running for re-election. You will perhaps recall Gianforte as the congressional candidate who slammed a reporter for the Guardian to the ground and repeatedly punched him in the face in June of 2017, reportedly because he was “sick and tired” of the reporter asking him questions. “Any guy who can do a body slam, he’s my candidate, he’s my guy,” Trump told his Montana crowd, to applause and loud screams of approval.

During the week his White House has been consumed with finding some way to excuse the apparent murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi by the Saudis in their embassy in Istanbul, Turkey, Trump decided now was a good time to celebrate the only member of Congress who has been convicted of violently assaulting a journalist who was just doing his job, covering a political campaign…

Here’s video of the event.

Barf Bag Alert!!

Note  the glee with which the deplorable, rabid Republican sheeple celebrated the violent assault and battery against an innocent journalist.

Trump is effectively telling the the Republican Reich that violent crimes against journalists are a good thing.  That’s the Republican way!

  1. And this is a big part of the reason I am most scared that hackers will do nothing before/during the election, but will allow the blue wave to happen, and THEN claim that it was a fake, that they did it.  I see us getting set up for exactly that.  I’d love to be wrong.

  2. This has escalated with each campaign visit he makes to a state…it’s appalling behavior, and with each ‘rally’ he comes out with clenched fists, and ready to rumple. To promote violence to this level, is very disturbing, and quite scary. imho.

  3. Trump has been promoting hate and violence against Reporters for a long time. We saw it during the primaries. We saw it decades ago with his fight against reporters who dared to call him a con man in New York. We saw his hate against women during the primaries. Most of his vile character has been exposed for decades. But Americans thought he would make a good president. Go figure.

  4. Quite frankly, I’m surprised he hasn’t come right out and told his base it’s OK to rape women.
Joanne, I’ve thought the exact same thing.

  5. He is a total disgrace for our country. All he does is promote violence in every wicked way that he can. Something must be done to get this idiot out of office NOWThanks TomCat

  6. Drumpf on journalists: Ad nauseam…

    .

  7. DESPICABLE, DISGUSTING, APPALLING!!!

This is how he treats Americans, look at Puerto Rico & now Jamal!

Don’t think it can’t happen to each & every one of you, nobody is immune from trump when it comes to choosing between people & profits!!!!

  8. You could have just stopped after “Trump Promotes Violence”.  These are all Twitler quotes:

11/22/2015: “Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”

2/1/2016: “So if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise.”

2/22/2016: “We’re not allowed to punch back anymore. I love the old days. You know what they used to do to guys like that? When they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks. […] “I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell you.”

3/4/2016: “Get him out. Try not to hurt him. If you do, I’ll defend you in court, don’t worry about it.”

3/9/2016: “In the good old days, this doesn’t happen, because they used to treat them very, very rough. And when they protested once, they would not do it again so easily.”

3/11/2016: “Part of the problem, and part of the reason it takes so long [to take protesters out of rallies], is nobody wants to hurt each other any more, right?”

And to show you how easy lying comes to these thugs, we have Sarah Huckabee Sanders ludicrously lying by trying to claim:

“The president in no way, form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence.”

And “The New York Times” compiled a video documenting them:

  9. As Nameless has already pointed out, this certainly isn’t the first time Drumpf promotes violence against journalists, and it won’t be the last time, I’m sure.

It may have been the most ill-timed of late, though. But going from telling the press how bad it is that Jamal Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi embassy to praising the prowess of a man who was convicted for slamming a reporter to the ground and then repeatedly punching him in the face may, not be such a leap for Drumpf. He’s never been able to connect any two dots, has severe long and short term memory impairment and he’ll say whatever feels good at the time. By now he’s back to being friends with the Saudis again (it happened in fight and the arms deal is more important). So why not beat up some pesky journalists to compensate?

  10. This is not just evidence tRump is evil, but PROOF he is evil.

VOTE, DAMMIT! This may be out last chance to save Democracy in the USA – at least, by peaceful and legal means. Remember, losers don’t make policy.

  11. Dumpy is a despicable excuse for a human.  those who voted for him were all about greed and racism, ignoring ALL the bigly indications of scuz emanating from him.  Pres. Obama was right when he said that he came 0n the scene 20 years too soon.  Starting from the birther BS, which, at bottom, said that he was “Not one of us,” (white, male, wealthy) the Orange Pig was on a roll.

  12. So Diaper Don likes violence sooooo much . . . put a pair of army boots on him (no deferments for bone spurs, age, or physical shape), ship him to Syria where he can be given a rifle (not before since he’d likely shoot a US citizen on 5th Avenue), and tell him to fight the terrorists!  Maybe that will lessen his violent streak! . . . either that or he’ll crap his diaper and yell for his mummy!

DD is a demented POS who belongs in an insane asylum for the criminally mentally ill!  Oh, wait a minute, isn’t that the definition of the WH right now with this administration . . . er . . . régime!

Not only does he fire up his supporters, but his avocation for violence is finding sympathetic ears globally!

  13. Thanks all.  Rushed Hugs! 23
