I’m still quite busy.  It’s a warmer muggy day today.  I get two cool days, starting tomorrow, followed by four in the 80°s.  TGIF!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:14 (average 6:17).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Robert Reich Network): Robert Reich: Another Tax Scam for the Rich

The Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. When they keep adding weigh to the capstone of the financial pyramid, it becomes so heavy that it crushes everything below it. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From YouTube (CNN Channel): GOP woman on Kavanaugh: What boy hasn’t done this in high school?

We sure know who wears the pants in their families! For women to channel abuse is almost as bad as the abuse! That is not normal behavior for teenage boys.  Most boys in my day were ham handed, but we stopped when we encountered resistance.  RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From The New Yorker: Saying that “it’s time to face the consequences of my actions,” Judge Merrick Garland admitted on Thursday that he cheated at Scrabble one time, in 2003.

Garland, who recently informed the Senate Judiciary Committee that he was “still available” to be confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice, choked back tears as he confessed to the “disgraceful” Scrabble incident.

“In late 2003, I was playing a game of Scrabble with my wife and Googled a word while she was off using the bathroom,” Garland said. “I deeply regret my behavior, which was reprehensible and inexcusable.”

Garland revealed that the word he Googled, “muzjiks,” all but sealed his victory in the Scrabble contest.

Damn, Andy! How Awful! No wonder the Republicans refused him! They are far too moral to entrust our country to a monster like Garland… Have I filled the room with shit, yet? RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

Can anyone spare a torpedo?

  1. 6:13 Since they posed so beautifully, thay are probably accustomed to other species, and you could take unsportsmanlike advantage of them. Oh, well. Maybe Squatch can save them.

    RIP Arthur Mitchell

Reich – Not much gets by him. The good news is that enough Americans are starting to cath on that some GOP are starting to claim “We’re losing the messaging!” Of course, one thing about capital gains is that the laws apply also to capital losses. The rich being so rich they have no you=know-whats to give, I think many would start selling at losses to see tax savings if the capital gains tax were increased enough. Whatever the system is, they will work it.

CNN – How did they find so many women who either weren’t assaulted themselves or have buried so deep that they have no idea how it works? Incidentally he is no “altar boy”

TNY – Yeah, that’s about the size of it.

Cartoon – What we need for this is not a torpedo but a device like the one in “Day of the Dolphin” – the scene that gave “Oh shit,” not a new meaning, but a deeper and more consequential one.  Unfortunately, I can’t find a clip.

  2. Sorry – no “Friday Fun” today (2 doctors’ appointments – I’m fine) plus finishing up my major backyard landscaping renovation – and tomorrow I’m gone.

Hoping for maybe a “Sunday Smile”.

  3. The 1% are setting up a system that cannot stand. The more tax breaks they get, the more they shift the burden on the 99%, which means less spending on our part, which means less tax revenue. The super-rich are slowly strangling the goose that lays their golden eggs. I am no economic expert, but it seems to me that, one way or the other, this present system will eventually collapse on itself.

Rage against the greedy rich is growing daily. The torches and pitchforks are coming out of the tool sheds. Resist, persist, insist, and above all, VOTE!!!

  4. RRN: Dumpy and “his enablers, do not give a damn!  No consequence is too onerous to stop their greed. I caught an ad for “Shark Tank,” yesterday: “American Greed, Get Yours.”  No wonder they love St.Reagan!!!!!!!!
CNN: A bunch of “Don’t bother me with alternate ideas, I already know everything.”  Were they asked whether, or not, they believed Dumpy’s pussy-grabbing boast, how they thought about it?
    New Yorker: Good one, Andy!
    ‘Toon: Of course!

  5. RR: Good grief!!! VOTE them out!!!

CNN: wth? No sympathy for her? wth. The women need to stop making excuses for Kav, what he did was wrong. The line of questioning will be difficult for Dr. Ford, but I stand with her, during this time.

    NYer: Awww……

Cartoon: Yep, pretty much sums it up……

*This just in – “Men report sexual assault by priests 30 years ago – Public outrage. Women report sexual assault 30 years later – Public doubt.” ~ P. Erickson ~

Supposed to rain here all weekend. I like the sound of rain on my tin roof. Hope that you have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  6. OMG those women are PATHETIC, i couldn’t watch it all, i wanted to barf!!

  7. Robert Reich: Needless to say Reich is right again. When will people finally see that the 1% have created an economy all for themselves and all to themselves: the economy of Wall Street and all those other stock markets around the world. Most of us can’t afford to invest in this conglomerate of hot-air products (when did the stock-market value of companies last had anything to do with their real value?) and derivatives. Those who can, are often worse off after bad investments by their brokers/banks/insurance companies. As long as economists keep telling “the economy” (i.e. the stock market) is doing well, while most of the people are struggling, Drumpf and the 1% will be allowed to perfect their private economy bubble with these tax scams, paid for those who are o part of that bubble. Until it collapses again, that is.

CNN: How terribly GOP to come up with the ols “boys will be boys” argument, put in the mouths of women of around Prof. Ford’s age. ? That argument wasn’t acceptable 40 years ago, and it certainly isn’t acceptable now. ? I’m mad as hell that the GOP is willing to turn back the clock on all women just to get their ultra-conservative justice on SCOTUS. Why would they want that? Oh right, so they can really turn back the clock on all women as law of the land. ? ? ?

TNY: Nobody’s perfect, Andy, but I never expected Merrick Garland to stoop so low as to cheat with Scrabble while playing with his wife, no less. I’m so glad the Republicans have spared us the depravity of this man who thought nothing of cheating on his wife for his own gratification. ???

Crtoon: Is that the yacht Drumpf borrowed and the crashed into the harbour?

  8. Robert Reich — Another Diaper Don tax scam indeed!  I truly wonder how his base manages to continue to support him!  There was an AlterNet article in which it was reported that Diaper Don refers to some of his base as “hillbillies” which is way beyond disgusting, yet much of his base still supports him. ‘We’ve Lost the Messaging Battle’: Republican Poll Shows Voters Were Not Fooled by the GOP Tax Scam, another AlterNet article, which discusses the initial tax cut scam and the new proposal.

“During passage of the bill, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said it was reasonable the tax cut would mostly benefit the rich because the poor just spend all their money on “booze or women or movies,” and Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) made it clear the voters’ opinion of the bill was irrelevant because his rich campaign donors were telling him “Get it done or don’t ever call me again.” After it was passed, House Speaker Paul Ryan boasted that the bill was a success because a secretary in Pennsylvania gained an extra $1.50 a week in take-home pay. And some other Republicans just openly celebrated that the bill put more money in their own pockets, with Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) buying a multimillion-dollar luxury yacht on the same day he voted to pass the bill.”

It is very clear that Republicans don’t give a rat’s ass about We The People, only their own worthless asses!!!  But then we already knew that, didn’t we.  Now if Diaper Don’s base would only take notice and abandon him like rats from a sinking ship!  The Republican ship is definitely going down.  Puddy Tat, you asked about a torpedo to spare . . . I believe the Republicans are providing their own!

CNN — “he’s no alter boy” — It seems to me that Kavanazi would fit in with the predator Catholic priests.  BTW, the vast majority of Catholic priests are not predators, but unfortunately, they and their enablers have garnered the most attention.  These women have totally deluded themselves and are nuts.

The New Yorker — “Have I filled the room with shit, yet?” — Yes!!!  The ceiling is now a cathedral ceiling (on the 2nd level) . . . without the piety usually thought to be in a cathedral!

    Cartoon — I don’t have a torpedo, but I sure wish I did!!!

OMG!!! There is this bright thing outside in the sky! It rained and rained yesterday and poured all night and earlier this morning. On Thursday, I completed the arrangements for the interment of my mother, step father and Nana so I was absolutely done in. My brother will be out on 06 October 2018 for the interment and I will be scarce. That is the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.

    • I have more computer problems — for example, I cannot open any sites that are not already open ie like the puzzle.  This is not a wifi issue as the other problems have been.  I imagine this is an ISP problem.  I have been able to watch the imbedded videos but cannot bring up any of the linked articles.  I dare not close the PP link as I’ll be gone . . . and I could not handle that.  So my comments are not on Care2.com right now.

      • Have you tried the “right click/open in new tab(or window)” command?  It may not work, and even if it does it’s not a permanent fix, but it could be a stopgap if it works.

        • Tried that . . . no go!  I can’t even bring up the website of my ISP!  They gave me a number to enter which should bring up a Telus site but that was a no go too.

      • If JD’s suggestion doesn’t work, try Opening a new Tab or Window, and pasting the link into the address bar. 26

      • Hallelujah!!!

Well I am up and running again!!

Apparently, the fix was very similar to the fix for the previous wifi problems, but this is not a wifi issue as I could still get PP and AlterNet which were open when I started having problems.  I could not even open the Telus website and they are my ISP.  But it is all good now.
