The heat has returned.  I’m trying to finish writing before WWWendy arrives in about an hour.  We have a very busy day.

We finished all the work and it’s hot as hell.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:15 (average 4:42).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (RWW Channel): RWW News: Leigh Valentine Says Undocumented Immigrants Are Treacherous Murderous God-Haters

Barf Bag Alert!!

These are NOT Christians. They are Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians, the opposite of authentic Christians. You can tell by their gospel of cruelty, hatred and racism. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Daily Kos: This is the price of voter apathy. This is what happens when good people sit on their hands and think they have no voice — that their vote just doesn’t matter:

Kids are snatched away from their parents and thrown in cages.

If we don’t get out in droves upon droves this November to kneecap this shart-slurping, retrograde prick who minces about like King Fuckwit in the West Wing, listening to nauseating encomiums from his fawning shit brigade while kids languish in concentration camps, we deserve to lose our democracy.

How much quasi-Nazi B.S. do we have to bear witness to in order to make the upcoming midterms a historic repudiation of our dictator-in-waiting?

My fear is that when November comes around, too many of us will forget what’s happening now.

But we can’t. We just can’t. Whatever happens, we need to be just as angry on November 6 as we are today. It’s the most important day of the year, by far. Fuck you, Christmas. Our holiday comes early this year.

We have to remember every outrage of the past two years. Every. One

I fully agree. Click through for a partial list of outrages. However, for every outrage, we also need to explain exactly how we would do it differently. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

From Crooks and Liars: Journalist Masha Gessen joined Joy Reid this morning to help us figure out what stage of fascism the United States has achieved. There’s a sentence I still cannot believe I had to write in seriousness.

On the scale from Democracy to Fascism:

Fascist Ruler? Check.

Fascist attitude towards Immigrants? Check.

Fascist Rule? Not yet. Not completely.

Whether or not we become a Fascist nation is up to you. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!

  1. 5:16 Funny you were just talking about psychedelics. This one doesn’t sound real fun.

I suspect this may appear in the Guardian, but I’ll be surprised if it shows up in American news outlets. (I’d love to be surprised.)

RWW – She sells a line of makeup. Don’t buy it. See how terrible it makes her look … and then check out the green guy at the right of the screen.

DKos – I think we CAN do it. I know we MUST do it. I hope we DO do it.

Joy/Masha – Well, very people understand this better than Masha.

Cartoon: Apparently he wasn’t QUITE such a jerk before he fell on his head at a tournament (not unlike some modern pro football players.) Also, his older brother died at JUST the wrong time – Henry had NOT been educated for kingship, and the timing of Arthur’s death left him far too little time to learn, including UNlearning the spoiled brat stuff. Although when it came to women’s rights he was always of his time.

  2. RWW: Sick. I’ll go with Pope Francis vs. these pretend Christians, who said, “Everyone shall find in it the source of mercy for the poor, and for those who are wounded by life and war.” See:
    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/20/pope-criticizes-trumps-policy-of-separating-immigrant-children-from-parents-at-the-mexican-border.html

    DK: Vote, vOte, voTe. votE. V O T E !!!!

    C&L: Gawd….so true, and frightening!

    Cartoon: Yep, they’d love this!!

Hi Wendy! I’m hoping that you have a great relaxing evening. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. RWW: Aha, Joanne, you saw the look of the Body snatcher in that guy’s face, also!  These are sick bastards, and they represent the low-life that has kept the flame of Jim Crow, and the elitists, whom Charles Koch has been supporting for over 40 years.  This is what the Tea Party, now re-branded the “Freedom Caucus” has been all about.  Yes, freedom from having to put up with “others!”
DK: Get out the vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  do  to allow the supposed “Blue Wave” create complacency!!!!!!!!!!!!!
C&L: We are in an early, let’s call it a Proto-Fascist, stage.  “The founders of the school of thought out of which Fascism has grown all have certain common characteristics. They seek the good in WILL rather than in feeling or cognition; they value POWER more than happiness; they prefer force to argument, war to peace; aristocracy to democracy; propaganda to scientific impartiality.” Bertrand Russell, in a collection of essays, called “In Praise of Idleness.”  Sadly, Dumpy has not been idle, he has been attacking decency as fast as he knows how to do it.  He has never been prone to decency.  He uses other people’s decency as avenues of attack.  To quote the author Eugene Sue (1804-1857), in regard to Sarah Sanders, and Dumpy “You can never speak worse of her than she deserves.”

  4. “In truth, there was only one Christian, and he died on the cross.” – Nietzsche

  5. i wish more people in the US would vote!

  6. DK: An article from Alternet: Here’s Why the Hope of a ‘Blue Wave’ in November Is Dangerous to Democracy approaches the same topic from a slightly different angle. Non-Drumpfian America must refuse to let their anger subside, but it also must feel it as their personal responsibility to do everything in their power to turn the tables on Drumpf and vote every Republican out of office. There’s no margin for error this time, no time for complacency and leaning back in the comfort that the Blue Wave will take care of it all. Remember all the outrages, get everyone you know who isn’t yet registered to do so, and go out and vote on November 6 and take a many along to the polling booth as you can to create that Blue Wave.
I know, I know, preaching to the choir here…

C&L: A fascist leader, but not yet fascist rule? According to Gallup Daily, presidential approval of Trump has averaged around 87% in his second year, up from 83% last year. During the last two weeks, it jumped up to around 90% (2). So when is the time that we can say: “the US has a fascist leader and fascist rule”?

Cartoon: Henri VIII, a child of his time, isn’t far enough back in time for Republicans with regard to women’s rights. You need to add a few centuries for them.

Don’t exert yourself too much when it’s hot as hell, TomCat. Go into survival mode if you need to.

  7. Puzzle — 4:13  Hmmm . . . I don’t think I like this flower.

RWW — ‘Your Voice’???  Not my voice nor that of any authentic Christian!  Note the sign to the bottom right: Trump Promise Keeper.  Now that is an oxymoron if ever there was one.  “They are treacherous God haters.” — She is describing herself, her co-hosts and Republicans without doubt!

Daily Kos — I saw this on Saturday and despite its import, could not stop giggling . . . the very blunt language and palpable anger stood right out.

“Remember all of it, put it in a box if you must, and unwrap it in November. But take some time once in a while to let it sear your gut — enough so that you can’t even think about staying home when your one opportunity to send a meaningful fuck-you to this heedless medieval ass-tart comes around.”

Get out the vote!!!  Vote BLUE!!!

Crooks and Liars — I had never heard of Masha Gessen before this so I googled her.  She has written a number of books about Putin etc.  As she said, Drumpf is a fascist.  Whether the country becomes an authoritarian state, a fascist state like Russia, depends on the will of the people to resist the slide into fascism by voting progressive. Republicans may not see themselves as fascists, but their hatred, greed and lust for power are enabling Drumpf to take the country that way.

Get out the vote!!!  Vote BLUE!!!

Cartoon — Ain’t that the truth!

We were lucky to have substantial wind as well as some rain on Sunday.  That really kept the temperature down thankfully.  It is too bad that you did not get similar weather in Portland.

    • Masha Gessen is the author who made the statement about outrage which I cite at the beginning of evert Everyday Erinyes.  Immediately after the 2016 election she wrote a piece for the New Yorker about how to survive an authoritarian government, and that advice was included.

  8. Thanks all.  Exhausted Hugs! 23
