This hectic week continues here at the CatBox.  Please expect no more than a Personal Update or an Open Thread from me tomorrow.  I have my routine, semi-annual fasting labs for Megan, my PCP, tomorrow morning.  Labs are a pain, but fasting labs are the pits.  I already made a turkey sandwich to take, so I can drown my kitty sorrows in bird, as soon as the labs are done.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:10 (average 4:56).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Senator Elizabeth Warren: I Want To See A Democratic Party That Picks Fights | All In

I love and agree with Liz, but I want to clarify one thing she did not explain. What some Democratic Senators voted to do is to open debate on the bill, not pass it. That gives them the opportunity to fight to remove those elements we don’t want and include the ones we do. In my opinion, they were foolish, because they based that vote on the hope that Republicans will negotiate in good faith. That will not happen, but some Senators are stuck in the mindset of collegiality. It will take another supermajority vote (60) to close debate, before it can be passed by the Senate. Any Democrats that vote for it then should be exposed, berated and primaried, but let’s not knee-jerk ahead of time foolishly. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Vox Channel): Guess Who will leave the Trump White House next

He didn’t mention that replacements hired are increasingly more incompetent, because competent people don’t want jobs, where the boss does not return the loyalty he demands, where the jobs may be permanent black marks on their resumes, and where the jobs may cost them millions in legal fees. RESIST!!

From Raw Story: [E]arlier this year, a report emerged claiming that President Donald Trump would personally rig the Miss Universe pageant to benefit contestants from countries where he had business relationships.

Now a new report published by Michael Isikoff and Mother Jones’ David Corn claims that Trump would also veto certain contestants if he deemed them to be “too ethnic.”

Specifically, one former Miss Universe staffer tells them that Trump would personally “make changes” to the list of finalists “if there were too many women of color” on it.

Another former Miss Universe staffer similarly tells them that Trump would weed out candidates who were too “dark-skinned.”

“He often thought a woman was too ethnic or too dark-skinned,” the staffer explains. “He had a particular type of woman he thought was a winner. Others were too ethnic. He liked a type. There was Olivia Culpo, Dayanara Torres [the 1993 winner], and, no surprise, East European women.”

That’s the Fuhrer! Today, that bigotry is the basis for Republican immigration policy. RESIST!!

  1. 5:07 Maybe Squatch can save them.

Taking food to eat immediately after the fasting fluid draws is the best idea, especially if your transportation may take a while to get you home. It shows you are savvy and smart.

MSNBC – Thank you for the clarification. I absolutely agree that this is not a situation in which we can look to gain anything. Sometimes, however, bringing something to the floor is a good idea, even if – sometimes especially if – the something is awful. In order to be more honest than Republicans, we need to also be smarter (not that that is difficult).

Vox – Increasingly incompetent, absolutely. There were some where the replacement, though more incompetent, is not more abhorrent, because that would be, if not impossible, at least too dificult for little Donny Two-scoops. (Gorka, Bannon, for example.)

RS – Had this not been published, most of us here would have been able to deduce it. Just from his character.

Happy Birthday indeed, Carrie! Hope you and Barry have a blast!

Cartoon – Yup. Only the intellectuals need to count that high.

  2. Rolling back banking reforms could set us up for another economic crisis. The Democreeps that voted against their party – and against the best interests of The People – should be ashamed of themselves. We are becoming a one-party country: Too many so-called Democrats are just GOP Lite. Lean on your Senators to oppose this crap in any way they can!
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if people have betting pools for who will resign next. The Orange Ogre’s regime is a rolling dumpster fire – if I may be forgiven for insulting dumpsters.
Rigging the Miss Universe contest? Wouldn’t be at all surprised.
Happy Birthday Carrie – and love the second cartoon.

  3. MSNBC: Thank you for your explanation. I know that Ms. Warren (and others) have our best interests first.
Vox: Who in their right mind would want to work in the WH? Good gawd, what a cluster!
RS: What a pompous bigoted as-!
    Happy Birthday, Carrie!!
Cartoon: Can they even count that high??
Hope you have a quick morning tomorrow, and a safe trip to and from. Get your rest, take care, Thanks, Tom.

  4. Happy Birthday Carrie… And with many more to come.
By the way, you are “39”… eh… lol.

  5. Vox: Who, in his/her right mind, would do business with a corporation that showed this sort of turnover?
RS: There he was, already on a world stage, already screwing the world with his bigotry!
    Happy, Happy, Carrie!

  6. Did so enjoy Samantha B last night. We never miss her. Thank you all for the b-day wishes. The only thing worse than being this old is looking and feeling even older! smile

  7. MSNBC: Well time will tell if the Democrats that helped bring this terrible bill to the vote are also Democrats who are willing to pick a fight as Liz calls it, and show themselves real Democrats with the people’s interest at heart  by voting against it. If not, those DINO’s who have helped to speed this bill along will be the nails in the midterm coffin of the Democrats.

Vox: LOL. The maker of the video, Danush Parvaneh, says that he had a hard time finishing the video because of the rate of people quitting the White House which made him have to change his props all the time. 12
Hardly any of those that have left were very competent (but those that are still there aren’t either) and it’s only going to go downhill from here, isn’t it. Anyone with a reputation to safeguard won’t even consider working under Drumpf as one of his “best of the best” to end up being culled as a scapegoat. Anyone accepting a job there will be under scrutiny of investigating journalists who can be sure there’s something in that persons background to be found. Why else would they want to work there?

RS: This only underlines why I think beauty pageants should be beneath any woman’s dignity to enter.

    Congratulations, Carrie!

Hope your “sampling” went well and you could enjoy your bird sandwich before a hypo set in on your way back, TomCat.

  8. Thanks all!  Pooped Hugs! 19
