The Way Forward on Tax Scam

It’s a done deal.  Less than five minutes ago, the House passed the Republican Tax Scam, and it’s on the way to their Fuhrer’s desk.  For the way forward, we have a good head start, because the Republican Tax Scam is more unpopular than any tax increase has been.  Moving along, we need to hang this albatross on the neck of every Republican lawmaker at every level of government, as well as every Republican donor and corporate criminal, whose greedy threats drove passage of this disaster.

Foremost on many activists’ minds is how to make politicians rue the day they voted for this scam. The folks who organized the big Tax March last April are about to launchrepealthetrumptax.org [sic] to coordinate 100 days of “accountability” events around the country, beginning in early January. Their aim: Make a “yea” vote on this stinker a mark of shame for candidates trying to get reelected in 2018 and 2020.

We should also be working to hold corporations that supported the tax bill accountable. Lobby groups representing nearly every large firm in the country, from the Chamber of Commerce to the Business Roundtable, fought full-throttle for this monstrosity, spewing one absurd claim after another.

Meanwhile, according to Marketwatch, corporations have been preparing to spend their tax savings not on job-creating investments or wage hikes but on stock buybacks, which will inflate the value of their CEOs’ stock-based pay…

Rachel Maddow gives us some excellent background on this mess.

Rachel explained that only 7% of Americans think the Republican Tax Scam is a middle class tax cut.  That’s a great start, and in the end, 60 percent of Americans get a tax INCREASE!  Are you ready?  Campaign 2018 just started in earnest.

  1. We all need to get the GOP/Republican Party to become extinct through all the upcoming special elections and including the 2018 elections. We must make them ALL extinct and not have them put on the ESA List.
    .

  2. A statement of what we want.  Well, you know what.  We lied.  We only wanted that “ideal” distribution for the melanin deficient (and mostly males).  It isn’t that we have forgotten us.  It’s that we never meant it that we wanted it in the first place.

“Some day we’ll see that movie and marvel that we all lived through it.”  No.  We won’t all live through it.  Those who do live through it may see the movie and marvel.

“Hold on to your wallet.”  That isn’t going to help when they pry it from your cold, dead fingers.

  3. Sonsabithches!!!
All of these ids that voted for this scam, VOTE THEM OUT when they come for re-election.Trumps tax plan would provide the top 1% with 83% of the tax benefit.
    COLD blooded sonsabithches!

  4. I’m behind in the details of American policy in the past 3-4 days so I sat through Rachel’s stuttering video and endless pause signs while it downloaded the next bit, but I’ve heard and seen it all. I’m absolutely gobsmacked by how much worse this tax scam has become in the past two weeks. The first Senate version was an assault on the American people an their economy, this final Tax Scam to my mind can only be called a rape of the nation. The Republican 1% are destroying the whole country for a few moment of their own pleasure.

Sadly the Republican base of the 93% who saw the tax bill for what it was: a scam, will be fobbed off with a few pennies thrown on the night stand for their services and when they pay a little less tax next year will forget all about what lies in store for them in the next few years and vote Republican again. Money talks to all and that is why this tax scam is even more devious than it appears to be. Middle class Republicans in the poorer Red states will have some extra money to spend next year, Democrats in rich Blue states will have to fork out more for taxes. But those voters are of no concern to the GOP/1%. Those voters are already in opposition and resisting – no change there and they know that Democrats will have hard time convincing the middle class in Red states to vote blue when they hear those beggarly few cents jingle in their pockets. There’s nothing for it, Democrats must spearhead their resistance in Red states.

  5. Hopefully, this will spur enough voters to kick the bums out!

  6. “only 7% of Americans think the Republican Tax Scam is a middle class tax cut” needs to be translated into votes for Democrats and a progressive agenda.  The Republican Party needs to be buried in its own self-serving filth.

    Great vid with Rachel.

  7. Thanks, hugs, and Amen to all! 39
