I’m back from my post-op exam, and my eye sees great.  It’s 20/25 which is fantastic for the day after surgery.  I’m very tired, as I had a bad night last night.  I woke up and noticed how clear my vision was through the holes in my patch.  Then it hit me that I shouldn’t be able to see through the holes, and that the pad had slipped out, so I stuffed it back in.  A little later, I woke up and found the whole patch had fallen off.  Half-asleep I reattached the patch, and lay back down.  Something didn’t feel quite right.  I had put the patch over my right eye.  After three previous eye surgeries, the patch had always been on that eye.  By then the tape was shot so I had to get up at 2:00 AM to re-tape the patch and put it back on my left eye.  Then I had to get up at 4:30 to be ready to leave at 7:00.  I’ll be back in the saddle tomorrow.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:30 (with patch on)(average 4:31).  To do it, click here. How did you do?

From YouTube (GQ Channel): For Whom Has Trump Made America Great? | The Resistance with Keith Olbermann

Keith is spot-on. But it’s also about the Republican Reich. They have made America hate long before Putin’s Pervert arrived. RESIST!!

  1. Glad to hear your surgery was a success!  (I’m not sure I EVER had 20/25 vision)

On a Housekeeping Note, there will be no “Friday Fun” this Friday.  I’m heading up to Illinois because it’s time to restock my Mom’s pill caddies.  (She can do it, but it’s a real struggle because of her severe macular degeneration.  And it makes her nervous if she got it wrong.)

AND a bonus, because my brother & sister-in-law will be there from Tampa for the Labor Day weekend!  YIPPEE!

    • I’m pretty sure I was never able to be corrected to 20/25.  My optometrist tells me the best I can get to now is 20/40 (but that’s a lot better than uncorrected 20/400).  Distinguishing shades of gray is tough too; I barely passed that; but then, that’s why I stopped driving at night altogether 3 years ago.

Enjoy your trip.  Thanks for the heads up!

    • Have a safe trip to Illinois and back and enjoy the Labor Day weekend together with your Mum, brother and sister-in-law, Nameless.

    • I’m confident that it will be 20/20 soon, like the right eye.  Now, if only they pointed the same way.

Have a great trip to IL and enjoy your time with your family. 46

  2. KO: Word.
Sad. So very, very sad. Spot on commentary! Passing this one along too.

    Cartoon: Every day, right?

Hope that you get some rest, take good care, Tom. Thanks!

  3. 4:24  Very pretty.  You actually did very well considering.  I don’t need an eyepatch to come in over average (which you didn’t) – just allergies.

Keith # 112 – Speaking as a “white” person, I am not really white, and I have never met anyone who is (and I have met [and entertained in my home] albinos.)  Knowing, as we are starting to, how important the “hierarchy” is to white supremacists, where while males are at the top, over all others, including whie women … is there any chance that we could make some waves by starting to call ourselves, and encouraging others to call us, “pink” instead of white?  “Pink supremacy” – it does have a kind of a giggle to it.

Cartoon – They have so many peccadilloes I am losing track.  Just this morning I was confusing Wilber Ross with Wilbur Mills (and wondering why no one else mentioned Fanne Fox.  D’oh.)

With all the surgeries I’ve lost track which eye was the last to have its cataract removed, TomCat, and I thought it was your tumor-affected eye that was last. But it doesn’t matter, your vision of either eye sounds very good, especially so soon after the operation, so it seems the nerve of the “bad” eye hasn’t been affected by the radiation as much as was as was expected, if any at all. So even more good news, I would think.

Keith Olbermann #112: Keith gives the Republicans one more (one last?) opportunity to redeem themselves by answering one question. Drumpf is going to be impeached; are you for America or are you for Drumpf; what is your answer, Republicans. Sadly we all know they won’t answer, not for some time to come, because Drumpf epitomizes so much of what the (secretly) stand for themselves.

Cartoon: You mean Republicans lean so far to the right that they have to stand in front of the left urinal to have it end up in the right one?

    • Christine wanted me to do the right first, because it used to be my dominant eye.

Larry Craig was an anti-LGBT Republican Senator, who got busted trying to molest the policeman in the next stall at the Minneapolis Airport.  His excuse for reaching under the stall with his foot was that he had a “wide stance”.

  5. Puzzle — 3:56  The picture reminds me of the North Shore mountains here abouts as seen from downtown Vancouver.  It is a scene that could easily be in Stanley Park.

YouTube — Keith is spot on, and I think that is one of his best, if not his best yet!!!  I do think that Republicans can help themselves because they are too hardwired into their ideology of greed and hate.  They don’t have the cojones as a group to take Drumpf out behind the woodshed!  But I guess we’ll just have to wait to see if they can finally grow a pair.

It has been a scorcher here today and we have smoke from US wildfires.  I thought my windows were dirty but it was the smoke  Right now, I am totally soaking wet from the heat.  It was 33 C (91 F) again.  I am off to bed but I doubt I will sleep all that well because of the heat.  I am very happy that your post operative check was so good.  My guess is that you will be unbeatable in the puzzles.

    • Here too.  I could smell the smoke.

I hope so.  I’m on my last horsie.  I sent the butt from one to the White House so there would be two horse’s asses there. 26

  6. Thanks and hugs! 22

  7. Glad for the report.  Keep on truckin’!
Keith- So well put, and put, and put, and put!
District Judge Susan Bolton, I have read, has ordered a hearing in regard to the Arpaio pardon!  Perhaps it’s not all over, over there, but it does NOT pardon Rumpy’s crap!
