Who Outed Sessions?

For last few days, Jefferson "KKK Beauregard" Sessions has been the low man on the totem pole in the Trump’s Republican Rectum Reich.  Most AGs would have resigned after being publically shamed, but Beauregard gave up Senate seniority to take that post, and like any Republican, he’s desperate to cling to power.    Now a communication from Kislyak that Sessions had discussed Trump’s Russia policy with him prior to the election has leaked.  I believe it.  But I find the timing of the leak to be highly suspicious.

Russia’s ambassador to Washington told his superiors in Moscow that he discussed campaign-related matters, including policy issues important to Moscow, with Jeff Sessions during the 2016 presidential race, contrary to public assertions by the embattled attorney general, according to current and former U.S. officials.

Ambassador Sergey Kislyak’s accounts of two conversations with Sessions — then a top foreign policy adviser to Republican candidate Donald Trump — were intercepted by U.S. spy agencies, which monitor the communications of senior Russian officials both in the United States and in Russia. Sessions initially failed to disclose his contacts with Kislyak and then said that the meetings were not about the Trump campaign.

One U.S. official said that Sessions — who testified that he has no recollection of an April encounter — has provided “misleading” statements that are “contradicted by other evidence.” A former official said that the intelligence indicates that Sessions and Kislyak had “substantive” discussions on matters including Trump’s positions on Russia-related issues and prospects for U.S.-Russia relations in a Trump administration.

Sessions has said repeatedly that he never discussed campaign-related issues with Russian officials and that it was only in his capacity as a U.S. senator that he met with Kislyak… [emphasis added]

From <Washington Post>

Rachel Maddow covered the story after updating us on recent developments into the investigation into Republican crimes.

It could be conscientious intelligence pros.  However, Ari Melbur suggested that the Trump Reich might be behind the leak to give Trump an excuse to fire KKK Beauregard and replace him with an AG that can fire Mueller.

Personally, I doubt that.  While it could give Trump that excuse, it also is hard evidence of quid pro quo, strongly indicating a criminal conspiracy.  I think the Fuhrer might prefer to avoid that.

Nobody wants the Mueller investigation to end more than Putin.  He’s invested a lot of quid into installing Trump as puppet Resident.  Because the investigation has tied Trump’s hands Putin has received very little quo in return.  He will receive no more as long as the investigation continues.  Therefore Russia may have outed Sessions to give Trump an excuse to force him and to turn up the heat on Trump to fire Mueller and end the Russia investigation.  That way Trump and Putin can go to work on running America for Russia’s benefit.

I may or may not be correct in this speculation.  I don’t claim to be.  However, we should check it out.

  1. Don’t forget that the Resident’s lawyers will not meet with him – their client – without a witness.  There is JUST NO WAY to know who is screwing whom there and how.

I did remark, though maybe not here, that, when he told Mueller to lay off his and his family’s finances, that translated to “The smoking gun – all the smoking guns – are in my and my families’ finances.  Come and get ’em.”

Now, I know this is not new to anyone, but isn’t it a striking indictment of where we are now that Trump is trying very hard to do something that NIXON would NOT do because he considered it dishonorable.  How bad is that?!!!?

Some days are indeed weirder than others.  And some days – are weirder than ever.

As far as what the Trump camp is thinking – I am going to quote this from memory from Josephine Tey (I believe from “The Daughter of Time”), so it’s guaranteedd to be off.  She is describing the criminal mind:  “They can’t reason from B to C.  Anyone can reason from A to B, even a child; but you need to grow up in order to reason from B to C.  You can put two incompatible things in front of them and you can’t make them see that they can’t have both, any more than you can make a man with no taste that bits of plywood nailed on a gable to simulate Tudor beams are impossible.”

    • You’re right.  That’s why I called it speculation.  The reason I consider it more likely speculation is that it was the most devious scenario I could envision. 07

      • Think about this “option” The Russian ambassador, knew that the Soviet line to the Kremlin had been compromised and he said he had the conversations with Session, just to get him in trouble.

The Russians love to screw around your head. This is devious and it could be the truth.

        • Welcome Ed. 19

You could be right, but I think the stakes for Russia are so high, that a directed goal of ending the investigation seems more likely to me.

  2. RM: S— !! is hitting the fan @the WH! From Sessions, the family, the Orange One. It’s definitely getting into ‘panic mode’ with the ongoing investigations ! When dt filled out his security clearance, did anyone check it for the TRUTH? What a cluster this is, and it’s going to get worse from here on out too. Now…where did I put my boots, as this is getting deeper by the day…???

  3. Rachel: “Oh! What A Tangled Web We Weave When First We Practice To Deceive!”  AKA: Holy Shit!  As a non-believer, I can only say that on some level all these Super Pseudo-Christians might be glad, for me to be right, because, in the Book of Revelation, of the King James bible, one particular act is singled out as certain to land the sinner in the Christian Hell: LYING!

  4. I believe you are correct!

  5. I don’t think the 3 ft 6 garden gnome leaked anything.  As you say, he is too into having power.  However it would not be unlike Drumpf to throw anyone under the bus to save his own skin, worthless as it is.  But Drumpf could not be seen, or risk being seen, as the person leaking info.  But I can see Drumpf asking Putin to instruct Kislyak to leak the info.  That would clear the way for Drumpf to anoint another miscreant to the AG position, not unlike his actions in the Office of Government Ethics, and tell that person to fire Muëller.

In any account in my mind, that is obstruction of justice.

A tangled web indeed Mitch!  Sir Walter Scott was right on the mark!

    Resist and Persist!!!

    Lock him up!!!

  6. The White House, and Republicans, are pulling out all the stops to confuse the nation as much as possible, and now the investigation is also following Drumpf money it is panicked confusion galore:

    * Complaining about Sessions recusing himself (so he can’t fire Mueller, which he certainly would),

    * Drumpf tweeting that he has full powers of pardon destroying the way out the Washington Post so carefully construed for him by calling his “interest in pardons” mere curiosity brought on by something he saw on TV,

    * the WH trying to discredit Mueller and members of his investigating team as much as possible,

    * suddenly officials “leaking” that Sessions did indeed talk with Russian officials during the lection campaign about matters important to Putin. This could either be used to get rid of Sessions, but may also work in his favor as it undercuts the Drumpf’s complaints about his recusal,

    * Drumpf replacing the Director of the Office of Government Ethics, Walter Shaub – who resigned in utter disgust, by a lenient “nobody” much further down the line, who then immediately signed off Kushner’s and Ivanka’s 77 financial assets they had “forgotten” on previous disclosures,

    * the Senate Judiciary Committee cutting a deal with Donald Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort to avoid a high-profile public hearing, with them providing records to the panel and to be privately interviewed ahead of any public session.

    * that same Republican led committee now scheduling a hearing of Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of the Washington-based firm that commissioned “the explosive and largely unsubstantiated” anti-Trump campaign research dossier. Simpson will reject a Senate subpoena to testify before it, pleading the Fifth.

Confused? That may exactly what they want us to be: as confused and in chaos as they are themselves. As for Drumpf’s base, it probably has skipped all of the points above straight to the last one, which they absolutely love!

  7. Thanks all.  Heat wave hugs! 23
