It’s a crazy day.  We have 87° and muggy forecast, which would tie the record for this date, so my AC is fighting to keep up with the sun on the wall.  I’m afraid it has ruined the lovely shower Wendy gave me yesterday.  My replacement credit card came this morning, and I updated my most critical vendors, but there are many more to update.  I hope you had a fantastic weekend.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:49 (average 4:45).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From NY Times: A member of President Trump’s legal team said on Sunday that the president was not under investigation by the special counsel looking into Russia’s election-year meddling, contradicting Mr. Trump’s assertion in a Friday morning tweet that he is a subject of the widening inquiry.

The denial on Sunday by Jay Sekulow, one of several personal lawyers Mr. Trump has hired to represent him in the Russia case, is the latest of many examples in which the president’s aides and lawyers have scrambled to avert a public-relations mess created by Mr. Trump’s tweets, off-script remarks or leaked private conversations.

How can you tell if a lawyer is lying? Look for any sign of life. Trump is not under investigation, the Pope is not Catholic, and bears never, ever shit in the woods. RESIST!!

From Huffington Post: Christian and Jewish clergy members have been part of the movement for reproductive rights for decades. Religious denominations, such as the Anglican Communion, the United Church of Christ, and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), have passed resolutions supporting birth control. And during the 1960s, religious leaders were actually a “driving force” in the movement to legalize abortion in the United States.

Today, this history of activism has largely been overshadowed by prominent voices on the “religious right,” who promote the idea that it is impossible to be both religious and pro-abortion rights.

There is no conflict between authentic Christianity and a progressive agenda. Conversely authentic Christianity and the Republican Reich are mutually exclusive. RESIST!!

From TPM: Authorities say a noose was found hanging from a lamp post outside a museum in the nation’s capital, the third such incident in recent weeks.

U.S. Park Police Sgt. Anna Rose said the noose was found Saturday afternoon outside the National Gallery of Art.

She said her agency is currently investigating how it got there.

Tourists found a noose last month on the floor of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. A few days earlier another noose had been found on the grounds of the Hirshhorn Museum, which features contemporary art and culture.

Ever since the Dixiecrats became Republicans, the noose has been a Republican calling card. RESIST!!

  1. 3:49  Not tasty.

NYT – You may want to amend your comment to specify a Republican lawyer.  I have known some excellent lawyers who are truthful, and some even who maintain a sense of humor.  But not Republicans.

HuffPo – This co-opting of entire congregations is why I bought the bumper sticker “Jesus called – He wants His church back.”  Although in Colorado Springs, Fundie Ground Zero, I’ve been too chicken to put it on the car.  I am grateful daily for the Christian organizations who promote authentic Christianity.

TPM – Let’s see – would I rather have them leaving nooses, or would I rather have them laundering money through art and artists, which is also happening?  Gee, that’s a tough one.

Cartoon – Funny that this Act was signed on Juneteenth.  Happy Juneteenth, everyone!

  2. NYT: Personally, I wouldn’t trust this guy. Even for buying air conditioners at the North Pole. just saying…lol

HP: Great video, I stand with PP!!

TPM: Plain sickening, and vile. imho.

    Cartoon: Yes, Happy Juneteenth!

Anyone see this one?? Trump Reportedly Hates Being President, but ‘Doesn’t Want to Go Down in History’ for ResigningAdviser says he feels “strained” by life in D.C. and the job’s long hours.http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/trump-reportedly-hates-being-president-doesnt-want-go-down-history-resigning

It’s hot here too. No rain in sight till this weekend. Glad you got your replacement cc, and getting things taken care of. Two family members became vegans recently, so instead of ribs and sausage yesterday, we had salad and fruit. The Father’s day get together actually turned out very well. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

    • I think that while Trump doesn’t like the job (work), he’s too addicted to sycophant adulation to give it up. 13

      • I’m past wanting him to resign, and I’m even past impeachment.  I now want him arrested, perp walked, and locked up, and Mike Pence and Paul Ryan with him.

      • I read that one yesterday.  That and he does not like to be seen as a failure.

I wonder why he thought it would be so easy.  Did he figure that the reps and senators, all of them, would just fall at his feet and do what he wanted?  The country is not a business and he can’t run it as such.  Likewise, there are rules that he must play by . . . the constitution being one set.

He is such a camel turd!

  3. NYT: Sekulow was probably hired with the proviso that he would go out and spread bull shit, to prove his loyalty, just like street gangs have initiation rites!
Huff Post: The Religious Right, (thank you, St. Ronald, for this blessing) is made up, as most extreme groups are, of the most obsessive, anxiety driven, tunnel-visioned, hypocrites one can find.
TPM: Just as Hitler encouraged the sickest of the Germans of his time, Rumpy has energized our societal outliers, legitimized them in many ways!

  4. Puzzle — A little gritty and hard on the mouth Puddy Tat.

NY Times — As long as Drumpfenfarten keeps using Twitter or keeps opening his mouth, his administration and his solicitors are going to have full time jobs.  But will the solicitors get paid?  They better get payment in advance!  The administration definitely has a communications problem and it all goes back to Drumpfenfarten!  One thing though, I hope that payment comes out of his personal funds and not the taxpayers’ wallet!

Huffington Post — The religious right, in this case, the so called Christian right, knows nothing of the teachings of Christ.  If they did, they would love their neighbours, not hate them; they would show compassion, not disdain.  Whether the religion be authentic Christianity or authentic Judaism,  showing support for families, for reproductive healthcare, for the overall well being of people is a primary tenet. I stand with Planned Parenthood!

TPM — Let’s see, the first noose was found at the Hirshhorn Museum; the second at the National Museum of African American History and Culture; and the third hanging from a lamp post on The Mall.  I might be stretching here, but the name “Hirshhorn” sounds like it could be Jewish, but I don’t know.  I read a bit about Joseph H Hirshhorn but there was nothing about his religious ancestry.  With that possibility and the 2nd noose at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, it sounds like there could be a white nationalist bent to these incidents, perhaps a threat.  Until the investigation is finished, we will not know.  Leaving the nooses is certainly sick and depraved.  With the increasing numbers of hate crimes, particularly since Drumpfenfarten unleashed his unholy hell on the nation, I think a hate crime, or at least a threat is very likely.

Cartoon — I had never heard of Juneteenth but it would not be lost on a Texas school teacher, Lyndon Johnson, as he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  Thanks for the bit about Juneteenth JD.  Very interesting.

    Resist and Persist!!!!!

OK, this is the 2nd time doing my comment as it disappeared the first time.  I am glad the credit card fiasco was straightened out but sad that you had hot weather.  Here, it was partially cloudy then sunny, but there was always a breeze and reasonable temperatures.  I finally got rid of the sinus headache which makes life so much better.  Now I have to worry about a little boy that keeps puking today.  I think he got into some kitchen garbage which had chicken bones in it.  A busy week ahead.

    • Lynn, it’s never done it to me, and I don’t know how to fix the problem unless I can reproduce it.  Exactly what are you doing, when it happens? 08

      • My comment was finished and I was adding the “Resist and Persist!!!”.  I hit the shift key for ‘R’ and poof!  Gone!  Because I occasionally hit the Ctrl key right below the shift key by accident, I was watching the placement of my fingers and they were OK.  I am also cognisant of that navigation pad and don’t think I accidently hit it as my thumbs and palms were higher, not dragging.  Frustrating I know.

Maybe it is my blonde, gray and purple hair!

  5. NYT: The only thing that matters is whether Mueller has widened the scope of his investigation to include Drumpf and Mueller isn’t at liberty to tell, nor the type of person to do so. Unless he also gets fired for it, of course. But if Drumpf thinks he’s being investigated, then even in his mind there’s cause enough to have a closer look at Mr. Resident, but by tweeting that he is under investigation Drumpf has shot himself in the foot again. And if he’s still considering having Mueller fired, then he prematurely has shot both.

HP: What Mitch said is spot-on:

The Religious Right, (thank you, St. Ronald, for this blessing) is made up, as most extreme groups are, of the most obsessive, anxiety driven, tunnel-visioned, hypocrites one can find.

AMEN. If Republicans hadn’t started catering to these minority pseudo Christians (only) to get their support and votes, giving them the run of Congress, Planned Parenthood would never have been in such dire straits. It’s about time other religious denominations realized this and stopped voting for Drumpf and for Republicans.

TPM: This Republican calling card, meant to intimidate (modern) art lovers, is another reminder of the fascist 1930’s in Europe where art with a progressive message was called “entartet”, that is “degenerate”, a term adopted by the Nazi regime in Germany to describe Modern art. Such art was banned on the grounds that it was un-German, Jewish, or Communist in nature. Drumpfians will soon denounce modern or ethnic art, or displays of non-white history as un-American, un-Christian or Leftist.
But that won’t stop the 1% from buying that art to launder their money and add to their private collection. As that happens unanimously these days, no one will ever know they have that degenerate art in their vaults.

Cartoon: More than 50 years on still one of the most significant acts ever signed.

  6. As a follow-up to my comment, above, see my posting submitted a few moments ago, about Sekulow being a Right wing-nut, Pseudo-Christian copy of Rumpy, himself, at:

  7. Thanks all.  Wilted hugs! cool
