Can You Contain Your Outrage?

Here it is in a nutshell.  The FBI had all the dirt on Trump, including his golden showers and other perversions, bribes, money laundering collusion with the GRU to interfere in our election on his behalf and everything else in the dossier that just surfaced, and the FBI was actively investigating this material way back last summer.  At that time, Comey blasted Hillary Clinton for carelessness, even though the FBI found no criminal violations.  Then in October Comey made an 11th hour announcement of a new criminal investigation into Clinton.  The allegations proved to be bogus immediately, but the damage had been done.  And in all this time he did not whisper a peep about the investigation into far more serious crimes by Trump.  In my view, that double standard prompted the following.

A number of House Democrats left Friday’s confidential briefing on Russian hacking fuming over the actions of FBI Director James Comey and convinced he’s unfit to lead the agency.

"I was nonjudgmental until the last 15 minutes. I no longer have that confidence in him," Rep. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), ranking member of the Veterans Affairs Committee, said as he left the meeting in the Capitol.

"Some of the things that were revealed in this classified briefing — my confidence has been shook."

Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), senior Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, delivered a similar condemnation.

"I’m extremely concerned — extremely," he said.

"I’ll just — I’m very angry," echoed Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.).

The intelligence community believes Russia hacked Democratic groups in an effort to help elect President-elect Donald Trump, claims Trump had publicly cast doubt on before this week.

Comey has been under fire since several weeks before the Nov. 8 elections, when he announced a new leg in an FBI investigation into the use of a private email server by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton — a probe that, as with the first round, resulted in no criminal charges. In response, many Democrats have accused Comey of altering the course of the presidential race in favor of Trump.

Friday’s briefing, featuring Comey and the heads of the other top intelligence agencies, was classified, restricting the freedom of lawmakers to reveal details… [emphasis added]

I suspected the reason behind it, but Rachel Maddow unraveled it.  I speculated that Steele, the former MI6 agent that compiled the dossier, was hiding out of fear of fatal retribution by Putin.  I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Rachel isn’t done. In the next segment she documents what the FBI knew and when they knew it.

Rachel makes an excellent point that if the intelligence community had found these claims against Trump to be baseless, there is nothing to prevent them from saying so and putting the matter to rest.  That they have not done so, is a strong indication that at least some of thge allegations have merit.

Christopher Steele may also be the one who leaked the memo to the press.  He was frustrated and thought there was a cabal in the FBI to harm Clinton and cover-up for Trump.

No wonder House Democrats could not contain their outrage.  Can you contain yours?

  1. I'm so glad you are featuring this.  It needs to be heard round the world, and heard LOUDLY.  David Corn at Mother Jones spoke with (probably Christopher Steele but he is still not naming him) in October when he broke the story.  http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/01/spy-who-wrote-trump-russia-memos-it-was-hair-raising-stuff

Did Rachel mention that Steele was so appalled by what he was finding that he continued looking int this even when he ceased being paid to do so?  Now THERE's an honorable spy (they do exist.)

    • Thanks for this Joanne, it is rather nice to know that honourable people exist (our present company apart of course), I suppose he couldn't have spoken out had he still been employed by the government.

  2. Comey needs to be fired, this has gone on way too long.

  3. Screw these Russian/Repub traitors!!

    Not my president. ???

  4. Just got back from seeing a wonderful movie, and it's late, here, on the East coast, so I'm not going to watch, so I can get to slep!

Damned son of a bitch!  And the other one's, too!

  5. Drumpfenfarten is on the thinest of ice!  . . . and Comey has already fallen through the ice!  Comey aided and abetted Russian hackers and Putin himself.  He should have a long term lease on a budget room at the crowbar hotel!  And Drumpfenfarten's inauguration should not proceed.  I agree with Elijah Cummings — Drumpfenfarten is not the legitimate president elect.

    Resist!!!

  6. It sounds perhaps criminal – but will presumably be let alone till after Trump's term in office is over, so they will profit greatly from their lies.

  7. At this point in time I honestly don't know whether I should be outraged, appalled or LMAO. Or just sit back and watch this charade, this decoy, this orchestrated "entertainment", pass by and hear of Drumpf being inaugurated and the WHOLE of his cabinet sworn in without further ado. For these measured out revelations keeps everyone busy until the 20th and then will be forgotten completely until that time when the GOP/Pence will want to get rid of Drumpf and blame him for all that they did wrong. They even manage to blame Obama for Drumpf becoming president now, but they'll need a replacement soon…

  8. Thanks all.  Hugs!!

  9. Rachel makes a LOT of EXCELLENT points. Of there had been NO TRUTH to any of the allegations, they would have been ALL OVER telling that none of it was true!!! But since they are keeping mum about it, seems there is more to them than they would like!!! I am looking for a bomb shelter to get in when this @$$hole is sworn in! ? ?!

  10. The Hill: Aggravting, indeed!  Comey is, apparently, a snide, sniveling POS.  Is he trying to beat Hoover's record as worst FBI Director, ever, and get a building named for him too?  Name a Mausoleum for him, maybe!
