Wendy is about to leave.  She rubbed and scrubbed a very stinky TomCat, did some light housework, and cooked me a rotini casserole.  We had eggs over easy and O’Brien potatoes for brunch.  She rubbed my shoulder with Icy Hot.  I’m listening to the Chargers v. Texans meditation, and my Broncos meditate with the Chiefs this evening.  May the holy Ellipsoid Orb shine its blessed light on your team, unless they live under an arch.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:01 (average 4:52).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: President-elect Donald “I’m supported by fear and hatred and ignorance” Trump has a fantastic new tax plan. Well, it’s not “new.” It’s basically the same shitty Republican tax plan that destroys the poor and working classes every time it gets enacted. Trump says the largest tax reductions are for the middle class. He also has a bridge in New York to sell you if you believe that. If you are wealthy, guess what? You will get to pretend that you are going to “create jobs” with your new found wealth—on top of the wealth you already have. If you are in the middle class? Sorry, Charlie!

Most married couples with three or more children would also pay higher taxes, an analysis by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found. And while middle-class families as a whole would receive tax cuts of about 2 percent, they’d be dwarfed by the windfalls averaging 13.5 percent for America’s richest 1 percent.

How about single-parent households that make decent money?

“If you’re a low- or moderate-income single parent, you’re going to get hurt,” said Bob Williams, a fellow at the Tax Policy Center.

[…]

But Lily Batchelder, a visiting fellow at the Tax Policy Center and former deputy director of President Barack Obama’s National Economic Council, estimates that roughly 7.9 million families with children would pay higher taxes under his proposals. About 5.8 million are led by single parents. An additional 2.1 million are married couples.

This has always been Republican tax policy. It’s raise YOUR taxes to give massive tax cuts to billionaires, aka No Billionaire Left Behind.

From NY Times: Nearly three weeks after Election Day, Hillary Clinton’s campaign said on Saturday that it would participate in a recount process in Wisconsin incited by a third-party candidate and would join any potential recounts in two other closely contested states, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

It’s about time!!

From YouTube (TYT Channel): It’s Time to Stand with Standing Rock

Amen!!

  1. 3:59 Very attractive.

I'm glad you got a chance to get the shoulder rubbed with something.  I swear by Badger Balm myself, but whatever works best for you.  May your meditation be calming and productive.

DKos – I'm appalled myself that my bare Social Securoty places me into the "middle class" in my county.  I certainly think of myself as "low income."  IMO low income people, including lower middle class and maybe even middle middle class, pay enough taxes for food, clothing, other commodities, property, and everything we are hit with that our federal income tax should be much more manageable, and many shouldn't have to pay any at all.  Oh, well.

NY Times – I am very glad she did not initiate the recount, as that would have made it so much easier for Rethugs to paint her as a power hungry b***h (not that they won't, but this way it will be harder.)  But now that it is being done, she and her campaign are absolutely right to be helping.

YT/TYT – It is way, WAY past time to stand with Standing Rock if one hasn't already been doing so.  And the same is true of indigenous peoples in Central and South America, who have already lost so much, including so many murdered activists.  I am glad that a bunch of veterans are on the way there – because the proteCtors (they don't call themselves proteSters and I won't either) have been handed an eviction order for December 5th.  That is likely to be even uglier than what we have already seen.  Yes, I am very angry, very disturbed, and very afraid about this.

Cartoon – Right on the money.

  2. DK: This makes me ill. Since I've retired, (we are both on a limited budget), we save and scrimp like there's no tomorrow. There will be a tomorrow, right?

    NYT: PTL !!!

YT: So very scary, and sad. Don't back down, water is indeed…LIFE! Glad to see our Vets getting involved too.

    Cartoon: Yep.

My guys lost, geesh. Two in a row. I feel bad for them. Hope that your guys can get a win tonight. That Icy Hot works, it did for my knees when I used to run. They make pads/patches too. Hope that you have a most relaxing evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. tc so glad to get to read this. please check your email.

  4. tc please read your email. thank you

  5. lidoderm pain patches are the best but you need a script and they can be expensive. talk to a dr.

  6. DK: Did that jackass really say that?  Somewhere, some day, in the deep dark recesses of some Trumpophile's alligator brain, a little light will be kindled, and the owner of that long ignored phenomenal instrument will start to scratch his, or her, ass, and wonder where his, or her, Trump promised job, or break, went…"Because it sure as hell did not come here, to me!"  And, if that person's brain is capable of transmitting messages within its tiny, dessicated world, she, or he, might just wake up to the fact that she/he has been had.  THAT could start a revolution!

NY T: It sure is about time!  It has been suggested to me that once Stein started the action, Hillary had to join, or look like a fake, herself.

I've signed a petition to Pres.Obama, about getting into the pipeline issue, to protect the protestors!  This is reminiscent of the police, and private armies of the corporations battling with union people, last century.

  7. Hang on to Wendy, she sounds perfect.  Wonder if she would want to relocate?

Daily Kos:  Any time a Republican says he or she is going to cut taxes, I know it will be for the wealthy.

NY Times:  Glad Clinton is going with the recount.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if the recount gave all the electoral votes to her!

Youtube:  I have signed numerous petitions and sent letters to different government agencis in support of Standing Rock.  I hope Pres. Obama puts an end to the contract while he is still in office, because we know if he doesn't, the "new" administration will fully support it.  Shared the video.

Cartoon:  This has to be true!

  8. The tale of how you've spend your day, reminded me very much of my early youth, TomCat. Whenever I visited my grandparents, who didn't have a shower in their little worker's cottage,  for the weekend, I was the first to get scrubbed clean in the large tub the filled with hot water in the kitchen, then I was fed my favorite meal and then I got to sit in frond of the stove and listen to the children's radio play. After that I was put to bed. Happy childhood memories. I hope you felt as pampered and cozy now as I did then.

DK: First of all, not-the-popular-vote president-elect Drumpf never had an original thought of his own, so it is hardly surprising that his fantastic, the best ever tax plan turns out to be a hand-me-down from the GOP. So then it's a given that the poor and what's left of the middle class end up even poorer because they have to support the welfare of the 1%. What reason was there for Drumpf voters to expect anything else? Drumpf is the Republican candidate, supported by the GOP, isn't he? If they had wanted something different they should have written in/voted for Bernie Sanders.

NYT: Good. Politically played shrewdly too.

YouTube(TYTC): The time is definitely now to stand with the people at Standing Rock. Wait and you're too late.

Cartoon: Yup, always helping themselves to what's not theirs. The shamelessness with which to do that is the most difficult part to learn, all the rest comes naturally, entitlement is inbred.

  9. Puzzle — 3:44  My sneezing slowed me down . . . I'm allergic to geraniums.

Daily Kos — "No Billionaire Left Behind" — Indeed!

NY Times — It is good that the Clinton Campaign is weighing in on the recount.  Drumpf of course is tweeting up a storm and trying to distract from the recount with accusations.  The recount is unlikely to change the outcome but we can hope.

"He suggested that most of the money raised would not be spent on the recount. “The results of this election should be respected instead of being challenged and abused, which is exactly what Jill Stein is doing,” Mr. Trump said."

Youtube — AMEN!  I have signed a number of petitions for the pipeline protest.  Pipelines crossing rivers and aquafers endanger people and the planet.  Companies like Nestlé are taking water from the ground for free or very low rates like $3.70 per 1 million litres and selling it for ~$5.00 per 17.5 litres.  These corporate criminals are only interested  in money.

Cartoon — Republican in training indeed!

Well I imagine you were not pleased with your Broncos this evening, falling 27 – 30 to the Chiefs.  I was rooting for the Chiefs because I have 1 or 2 on my FF team.  It was a Chiefs player that made the difference as I beat Viv 128.30 – 124.46.  I hope the massage helped the shoulder.  Wendy is indeed a wonder!

  10. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
