Almost every week, Republicans join a competition to see who can say the most outlandish things, and in the process, they push the envelope on just how lunatic InsaniTEA can become.  I trust that you will believe it, when I tell you that last week was no exception.

4. Religious right leaders are glad that the whole idea of punishing women for having abortions is now out in the open.

0403WoWAlthough Donald Trump has completed his 180 on the topic of making abortion illegal and making women who have one criminals, he sure got the religious right all hopped up about that possibility.

Pat Robertson seemed to struggle a bit with the issue. While he acknowledged that it seems “a bit draconian” to punish women, the fact is, “if somebody says abortion is murder, then what do you do to somebody who commits murder?”

Uncle Pat’s just asking. Just wondering. Just a little idle chitchatting.

Another right-wing charmer seemed much less perplexed about it. Jay Sekulow of the misleadingly named American Center for Law and Justice, a legal group Robertson founded, said if Roe v. Wade is overturned, states can just start making laws on how women can be punished! Yeehah!

RightWingWatch reported extensively on Sekulow’s comments if you’re game to get even more terrified…

  1. Alternet: Sounds like someone pickled their salad with kool-aid and now they are all speaking “this  tossed salad of gibberish…”

This cartoon says everything about the GOP’s current stance and position on its abortion issue which I found disgustingly true.

    .

  2. Disgustingly despicable discriminatory dehumanization.

  3. Palin — A very fitting reception for a Teabagger fool!  Bored, no applause . . . that must have really bummed her out!  SNAFU!!!!!  Drumpf and Palin deserve eachother.

Pierson (eck!) — "Pierson later suggested that we shouldn’t even be talking about what Trump thinks about abortion because terrorism exists." — Now that's a non sequitur if ever there was one.  Palin isn't the only Drumpfite that tries to make incompetency into a virtue!  And no Katrina, yelling doesn't change the meaning, nor our perception of you and Drumpf as idiots!

Stone — If you want to improve your tennis game, play against someone that is a bit better than you.  Drumpf seems to have missed that life lesson if Stone is an adviser to him.

Religious right on abortion — As I understand, Drumpf has taken his 4th stand and said just leave things as they are.  He sure got his tightie whities in a twist with his multiple pronouncements.  And the old fossil, Robertson, is just as coherent as ever.

Conservative media — Put a sock in it you schmucks!

  4. Palin: I watched her talk, and got absolutely nothing out of what she was saying. She was definitely incoherent, I was thinking…W.T.H.??  What an ID.

Pat Robertson needs to retire. Like 10 years ago.

Cartoon: Absolutely. If they have their way!

    Thanks, Tom.

  5. What are the conservative holier-than-thou Christians gonna do when dear OLD Pat dies? They won't have anyone to spout off about things that are better left unsaid!!!

Drumpf has a 360 comin soon! He will say ANYTHING to please what ever state he's in!!! He will tell them ANYTHING to get the vote and will do just about, no all of the dirtiest tricks that are in the book and in his empty head!!!  And Palin is right up his alley!

  6. 1.  Well.  Eight minutes of no applause.  Did she notice?

    2.  Oh, yeah.  We shouldn't be talking about abortion because terrorism exists.  False equivalency.  One of their very best.

    3.  Well, this makes sense.  If they had any knowledge of, let alone understanding of, history – they probably wouldn't be Republicans.

    4.  "What do you do to somebody who commits murder?"  Well, if they are a white rich teenager, you give them a suspended sentence.  And they leave the country.

    5.  Well, now they are really, really reaching.  Maybe they should have stuck with being outraged that the President had a photo taken "in front of a famous Communist.

  7. The cartoon is so true!  Reading the article on Alternet was unsettling.  More proof of how crazy our country is becoming.  How hard can it be for them to understand the separation of church and state?  And when, probably never, will they quit slandering our President?

  8. Roe v Wade has been the law of the land for decades and the MAJORITY of people are in favor of it as far as I know, religious people among them, and the Republicans never had anti-abortion on their agenda until they started catering to the fringe pseudo Christians. If Republican candidates want to turn the clock back against the will of the majority of the people, and go even want to punish women who seek an "illegitimate"abortion, they will lose even more of their voters, especially women. Both Drumpf and Cruz seem to cater only to the angry white males in American society, thank goodness they are a minority. A woman with any sense at all wil lby now have noticed notice that Republicans have not only declared their reproductive system as a Republican legislation target, but also their whole body and soul with their misogynist interpretation of their beloved bible.
