Yesterday I learned that I’m making such good progress that I will no longer qualify for home health care after February 12th. I can go out for PT and OT, but I’ll have to do it much less frequently, because of the copay and having to pay for transit, The big hurt is that I’ll lose my shower-aide. Medicare does not pay for long term personal care, and I make just little too much too much to qualify for Medicaid. I’m searching for a solution. The dreaded task did not get done, because the building’s elevator has been out since Sunday night. It was supposed to be fixed yesterday afternoon, but it was not. We’ve actually had three day’s of relatively nice weather, and I’ve been trapped here. ARGH!!

Describing the damage that the 31 current Republican governors have done to the United States (and to their own states) would likely take a tome the length of War and Peace. You don’t have the time to read that, and as these men and women are still in office it would be impossible to keep up with the garbage legislation they keep unleashing on their citizens. So let’s just keep it to the top (er, bottom) four:
4. — Maine Gov. Paul LePage. This is a man who does not have the qualifications to be the county dog catcher. Yet inexplicably, he’s the governor of Maine. He is so petty that shortly after he took office he ordered murals representing working men and women taken down, as they were “pro-union.”
Now, if that was all he did he would not have made this list. But Gov. LePage is the gift that just keeps on giving. He has no filter when talking about his opponents—think Donald Trump, but worse. In short, he is a bully. Oh, and a racist too.
But no, we aren’t done yet: He used his political power to have an opponent fired from a job at a charter school. This brief write-up only scratches the surface of Gov. LePage. He is an awful human being, on top of being a lousy governor.

In my part of CA, our Area Board on Aging (which is combine with Disability in OR) has contractors providing many needed services not covered by insurance/health coverage. I would recommend contacting them for shower aide options.
There are elements of the Le Page saga that undoubtedly are under investigation by federal agencies for federal violations so hopefully justice will eventually be served.
No woman is safe from the GOP–especially if they have talent or power.
My current climate change is overlap of fall and spring yard duties.
I'm in touch with them. They say there is probably nothing they can do, but they're checking.

DK: Walker: A family member of mine lives in WI, and they can't stand the man. We don't even address his name when visiting time comes. #1 is a good choice though. I voted Snyder, though the others qualify as well. Snyder comes in at 39% as of right now.

DKos – Yes, and they keep doing things that bounces them up and down in the stats. It really is darned near impossible to say at any moment who is the worst, because the second you do, another one comes along and does something even eviller (and, yes, I know that's not a word. But it sounds so right.) LePage was talking (incoherently) about guillotines today. And public executions. Right.
Upworthy – Boycott? I thought what they did with music by people who hate them is use it at their campaign rallies without permission or credit. I must be confused. Or someone must.

On the governor search for the bottom, I have to put Mary Failin Fallen-(R-OK) in for one of those slots!!! Her two-term failure of a governorship has left OK with (I hope) a sour taste in their mouth for Repukkklicans. She has turned EVERYTHING upside down in this state! You can't get pain meds for REAL problems. That is the one thing that I will never forget or forgive her for this. They don't care if someone is in profound pain. Or that it is long-lasting or life-long pain!!! They just want to change the laws to where doctors that prescribe pain mangement prescriptions will be dogged and hunted till they lose their licenses or worse, go to jail! There will be deaths from this. Deaths from uncontrolled pain for patients that have High Blood Pressure. Patients that can't get relief from pain will see their BP skyrocket and the ONLY thing that will bring it down will be a stroke, heart attack or enough pain meds to relieve their pain!!! The first two can happen really quickly!!! The last one is long in coming and may not get there until it's too late!!! I hope she is happy with her campaign against the RIGHT to seek medical treatment AND take the medications that are RIGHTFULLY prescribed to you!!!

Sounds like you are being punished for being a good student and succeeding. Medicare really should pay for HOme Health care and personal care, too many people are in the same spot as you. If my sister and I could not help my mother with her bills she would have to go to a nursing home. She refuses to move in with either of us and she needs 24/7 care, it is nuts that they won't pay to keep someone home but will pay for a nursing home. Today was the first I had been out since last Thursday due to the 18 inches of snow we got. Curses on winter!

Daily Kos: They are not only bad governors, they are also miserable human beings. I am afraid my fellow Kentuckians have elected one of those for us. He just cut funding for universities in his budget. We don't need no education, we is smart enough.
Upworthy: Loretta Lynn was a woman ahead of her time. I live about three miles from her childhood home. The Dixie Chicks were courageous women who had their careers destroyed by Republicans because they spoke the truth.
Cartoon: The saddest part is that people think if we have a big snow storm that proves there is no global warming. The media has done a poor job of explaining it, and that is where most people get their news. TV.

Daily Kos — For me, it is a tie. Every Republican governor is vile, bilious flotsam. The commonality . . . they're Republican. I had enough of our "Republican" Stephen Harper, and he isn't as bad as your Republicans, for the most part.
Upworthy — I had to read up on both Loretta Lynn and the Dixie Chicks as I am not a country fan. Of course I knew of them both — Coal Miner's Daughter for Lynn, and some dustup for the DC. According to Wikipedia, Lynn is a Republican but doesn't like to talk politics. The DCs were sure right about Baby Bush! Strong women giving voice to women. I wonder how they feel about the current crop of Republicans?

You'll get things straightened out, but please be patient with yourself! Do you have a bath/shower stool to use? When I broke my ankle and was non weight bearing on my right leg, I used a stool for showers and it worked quite well. The only problem . . . I was exhausted pulling and pushing myself around, in and out of the shower. That's where patience comes in, and the reality that everything takes at least twice as long to do.
Because it's an external bathroom, such a shower satoll would leave water in the hallway, creating a hazzard for others.
I was living with friends so had to take the stool in and out. I dried it off first with a cloth (including the feet) before taking it into my room. No drips.
Other reasons are that there is no space my tiny apt. to store it, and they all have castor locks on the back wheels only. Transferring to and from it would be very hazardous for a person with one leg.
I was wondering when the home health care would be terminated as you seemed to make such good progress, TomCat. I'm sorry to hear that is so soon and so abruptly for all the care. I gather you would have liked to have some aide with showering for longer, as that obviously is impossible to replace by going out for it unless you can attend a Turkish bathhouse 😉 Perhaps you can convince Medicaid that personal hygiene is very important especially if you need to go out for PO and PT and you're not ready to take care of it on your own? They should know how long it takes to clean all that fur and how important hygiene is to all cats, no matter what age or what income bracket they are in.

Daily Kos: I'm familiar with all four of the worst governors and familiar with most of the other 27 Republican governors because a follow your Politics Plus and all its articles religiously (pun intended) and if the number of (vulnerable) people badly hurt by a governor's actions is a criteria for terrible governorship, then Snyder is the worst governor by far at this moment in time. Having said that, it can all have changed next months, because if there's one thing Republican governors can't stand is competition for this title. At this very moment a number are thinking up even more evil plans to unleash on their constituents who will thank them for it by voting for them again…and again…and again.
Upworthy: That Loretta was didn't incur the wrath of the GOP with her texts 40 years ago, but the Dixie Chicks now do, just shows how much the GOP has shifted to right in such a short period of time by catering to the extreme right evangelical fringe.
